Oddly I can't find any articles confirming, but according to Twitter the Guinness record for number of holes played in one week, 2000, has just been broken. Here are the "pre" stories:

I've got a slight personal interest in this since the previous record was held by Geno Bonnalie, Joel Dahmen's caddie, who did it in 2011 at the course that I grew up on, Lewiston Golf & Country Club in Idaho. It's mostly fun to watch since I knew the course so well, but here's video of Geno's feat:

I didn't have too much interaction with Geno since he was 4-5 years behind me (and I didn't play high school golf my senior year). Joel was 6 years behind me so I didn't see him play at all. If you follow Geno on twitter (which you should) you know he's quite the character, and a good golfer. He holds the course record at LGCC (I think a 61?), and his best round during the marathon was a 64. Dahmen's played that course a ton and still goes back, but Geno has the record.
5-6 years ago I was playing in a two-man tournament with my dad, and Geno was playing with a friend of mine. Naturally they made the sole survivor, but unfortunately it wasn't for a few hours after Geno and my friend got done playing, i.e., there was plenty of time for drinks. Geno somehow misplaced his clubs, and had to use my friend's. The punchline: my friend has dwarfism (and he's good, 3 handicap I believe). It was a chapman, and they were eliminated on the first hole. I don't think Geno even made it to the green.
