I didn't realize he was such a big deal, lol.

Red Sky was amazing. Didn't see any eagles but I saw a lot of deer. We were a foursome and let a couple twosomes play through, other than that didn't see anyone else on the course, it was glorious. I thought the course was super tough. It was tight off the tee and I hit a lot of irons and hybrids to take the crap out of play. Missed some greens in the wrong spot and was totally dead based on where the flag was. Ended up with 77 but I felt like I was playing good enough to shoot 72. It was just tough to get the ball in the hole.

First time I called and asked them (him) to call course X. When I went in to play next day I ask how he made out. He replies "what was I supposed to do again?" Sigh. He did make arrangements during our round. Yay.

Next time I called and asked to set up course Y. When I go to course next day I ask if he had a chance to call. "No." No follow up. No "I'll call today." Nothing. I think I checked the next day and he still hadn't and I told him to just give me a tee time at home course instead.

Past Sunday, I get to course at noon. Ask him to set up course Z for this Sunday. Check after round. He hadn't called. Check yesterday. He called and no answer. Check today. Hasn't called, been busy. Again I say just give a tee time at home course.

I know he's a busy guy but seriously, WTF.

And the kicker is he'll never call me, I have to call him every time.

I know, what a thing to complain about. But I'm paying for this stuff and it's god damn impossible.
Ok, here's a stupid question. Why can't you call the course and setup the tee time yourself? Hi, I'm Nateditty, member at such and such and would like to setup a tee time. Have them call your club to confirm.

I get that's not what you're paying for, but if you aren't getting the kind of service you expect you maybe could talk to this guy and see what's up. If that doesn't help matters then you should talk to his boss. Maybe they have received other complaints about him, but either way if it continues I think the higher ups would like to know.

1) I've asked myself the same question....why can't I just call the course myself? On Monday I actually played a scramble at a reciprocal. I went into the pro shop to grab some tees and decided to feel the pro out about this very idea. He said all arrangements must be made thru my home course just because then he'll know I'm a verified member (he said he'd just have way too many people calling direct claiming to be members elsewhere and lying). He said "Just have "Billy" call (they all know each other) and we'll be happy to set it up. Yeah, if only it were that easy.

2) I'm golfing my home course this Sat/Sun. I'm just going to ask the pro if there's anything I should be doing to make the process easier. Like, am I not following the policy? How do others do it? We'll see what he says.

How often are you seeking reciprocity? Generally in my area is limited to times when our course is unavailable or I am out of town and the club gets me a time in the place I’m visiting.

Maybe your arrangement is different

I've been in those types of pro shops before from working in bag rooms. The guy is not too busy to call.

I've tried 3 times this season with success one time. I do know availability is limited. But the pro isn't even calling.

The visiting pro likely gives your pro a hard time every time he calls. Seems like both pros need to be better.

Are you able to change your home course? Maybe some of the other pros at the reciprocal courses are better about it.

Got a TPI screening last week. If anyone is interested posted the salient points over in my H&F thread. Tight hips man...sitting all day sure can't help.

Would recommend if you are trying to get better. I work out pretty hard and pretty heavy. Also have been fairly religious about mobility work for the past 6 months (intermittentaly before). To see the "Fitness Handicap" was pretty eye opening (although 'fitness" in this case is only mobility/flexibility). Suspect I'm much lwer handicap if strength and cardio were factored in.

I don't see changing courses as being an option. My course it's relatively inexpensive and my golf partner is also a member. And I really enjoy playing my course.

Yes. I want to play myself, not watch 4 other people golf.

Take up the issue with as many board members as possible. You're right, you're paying for it, and it shouldn't be that difficult. My course is doing well membership-wise, but most aren't; the board, at least, should be cognizant of keeping members.

It's that time of year again, the week when you get your email from Augusta National informing you that you were not selected for practice round tickets again this year.

A tradition unlike any other.

Soldier Hollow - Play the course that is up in the mountains. I have played both but like that one better (I believe they call that the gold course now). When I was there I played the tips at 7700y, only 1 par 4 was under 400 yards. Loved it, you are at altitude. It's relatively cheap too since it's run by the park service.

Also kinda cool, they had the cross country ski races there for the olympics.

Looks interesting but required to ride which I hate...may need to look at private clubs

Yeah not even going to bother clicking that, prices on the secondary market are insane even during normal years.

I randomly decided to enter the lottery for next year's Open Championship at St Andrews.

Let's see how that goes.
