I have watched some of the Barstool YouTube vids. I will say that they are not completely awful, so there is that.

i followed the story of that NCAA regional a bit. so there was some standing water in spots on the fairway, none on the greens. yes it rained several inches over the course of a couple of days but, duh, every player has to play the same course so why does it really matter? 'the course isn't in championship conditions, so we're just going to advance all of the top seeded teams to the next round'. such a load of bullshit and heartbreaking for the women that aren't on the top ranked teams.

So I had scheduled a tee time today with a guy I play with pretty regularly (we're not close friends but we play golf together now and then). When I got there I saw the other twosome checking in, and said hello since we'd be playing together. They seemed like nice guys.

Anyway about 5 minutes later my partner shows up and says, "My buddy Bill is gonna join us, he'll be here in about 15 minutes". I said, "well we're next up on the tee and already paired up with those 2 guys over there". He said, "I'll talk to the starter and have him send us out first as a twosome, then Bill will meet us on the 2nd or 3rd hole." I can't stand that stuff. Was perfect weather, course was booked solid. It's a public course. Make a tee time if you want to play golf. Anyway so then, all 4 of us were there on the first tee and my partner says to the other 2 guys, "we're gonna go out first since we have a 3rd coming, you guys can go after". Guys seemed confused but were about to let us tee off.

Finally I said hold up, if we are the ones waiting for a 3rd player (who didn't even have a tee time), then the least we can do is let these other guys go off first. Why should they have to tee off late because of us? My friend was like, they'll tee off in 5 minutes, who cares, and started to tee up his ball. Finally I said no, it's not fair to make these guys wait. This is their tee time. And I told the other guys to go first. My friend was then annoyed with me because they were kinda slow and he kept saying, "we could've gone out first, now we're stuck behind them."

Anyway it just seemed rude and obnoxious. As it was we ended up delaying everyone behind us since there were now 2 twosomes instead of a foursome in front of them. Bill did show up and met us on the 3rd tee, but the whole thing was aggravating and I just think it was horrible golf etiquette.

That guy was definitely rude and obnoxious. Golf courses aren't Nam, there are rules.

Good for revots for taking a stand against something he knew to be wrong. It’s not always easy to do that. Also a little surprised the starter let it happen.

It's absolutely infuriating. THe decision was dog **** even if it went by the letter of the rules. Rules need to be improved. Needs to be about what is best for the kids not arbitrary nonsense.

Can't imagine a kid not getting to play last spring, then making it to regionals, having it washed out because "the course is playable but not championship caliber playable" (whatever the **** that is) and then this slap dick comes down with his faux concern for their feels delivers the news, turns his back on them and just walks away without an ounce of ****ing empathy.

****ing seething.

Saw an interview with someone from the NCAA, they said course had tons of standing water, they would have had to make some of the par 5s par 4s, and some of the par 4s par 3s, by moving the tee area past the standing water in the fairways. So it would have been more like an executive course, par 64 or whatever. They felt that would impact the integrity of the tournament.

Still I'd think some creative thinking was in order here. Simply cancelling was a terrible decision. Also agree the guy just turning his back and walking away, as the girls were literally crying over their lost chance, was callous and terrible optics.

Agree 100% and was hoping that was what the starter would say. My buddy is a regular there so I guess the starter knew him and also his buddy who was on his way to the course.

Honestly in hindsight I wish I just told my buddy that I was just going off with the 2 guys I was scheduled to play with. It put me in an awkward spot, but like I said the guy is no close friend of mine so I probably should have just said eff you, see you later.

It was almost exactly a year ago today that I played my first 9 holes in over a decade. I'm looking back a year later at how golf changed my life mentally, physically, and even spiritually. I wont write a novel this morning but I can say that I have changed for the better in all three aspects.

After the first 9 holes my whole body hurt for 3 days. Now I'm exercising regularly and I can golf without any pain even on workout days. In the past 3 months I pulled some muscles in my upper back deadlifting and had a bad tooth issue holding me back. Last week I was back to 100%: over the past 7 days I only took a single rest day. I feel fantastic. The difference this year is that I'm now in an adaptive phase of life, where last year I was in a more sedentary phase.

Just keep making your way through the course. Just like life.

Does Callaway have a patent on the 3 lines they have on the ball? I do love that for putting, but I have a high spin rate off the tee and hit the PROV1 much better. I guess I don't see Titleist ever adding that, but I'm just curious.

Awesome! Thank you. I was already happy after Phil's win, but this made my day.

The chromesoft LS this year is pretty awesome if you're a high spin player. I've never liked a callaway ball before, but have been playing it a bit. Definitely the least spinny ball I've played this year aside from the pro v1 left dash, but feels a bit grippier on wedge shots than the left dash.

I bought a dozen of the LS but have not brought them out as of yet. Left dash are getting hard to find around my area. I have hit the left dash before and they were very nice.

So I found one of those Callaway's the other day and played several holes with it and really liked it. You guys convinced to order some, went with 3 dozen to go >$100 and get the free shipping. Doing the triple track and yellow because my eyes are garbage and hopefully I won't lose quite as many.

They're easy to order directly from Titleist too if you like them... I bought 4 dozen early in the year, and another 4 dozen from my shop's 4 for 3 deal.

It seems like they're promoting them more than ever because it seems like this year's proV1, proV1x are both quite spinny and similar honestly, and the left dash is markedly different. Left dash comes off the driver like a cannon... really love it down in like south florida with heavy wind, but in Colorado sometimes want a little more spin with the wedges.

I was kind of sad because this year's TP5x spins a LOT more than last years, which I think was because most of the tour guys thought they spun too little and were playing the TP5, which just feels like a whiffle ball to me.

I've been playing the standard Chrome soft, love the feel around the green but they definitely balloon high off the driver and spin like crazy, may try the LS to compare. Tough for me to spend $4 per ball though, I get the original CS balls used online for about half that.

Could be TLDR for some, but...

Does anyone agree that controlling the bottoming out of the clubhead around contact with the ball is one of the most fundamentally important skills of the golf swing? Sometimes when I practice dry swings in my living room (which I do quite a bit), I get it down really well and that is when it feels that everything comes together. The swing plain and clubhead speed seem to be vastly superior when I have it down. The element of timing during the swing, particularly around transition at the top suddenly becomes of paramount importance, and I get the feeling that I would stripe the ball with consistency and power with the same swing on the course.

An interesting element of when I'm in this zone is that my takeaway is quicker and has more tempo. When I'm on the course I tend to have a considerably slow takeaway when hitting balls. People tend to complement it and some people even draw comparisons to tour players with a slow takeaway. Even one of the local pros likes it. But my take on it is that it isn't necessarily natural, but that I have learned to use it to get the club and my body in good positions that work.

Earlier I posted a video in this or another thread of a dry full swing that I claimed to have liked, but it was something of an anomaly in that it had the slow takeaway but also the controlled bottoming out. On other occasions though, when the bottoming out of the clubhead is really dialed in the takeaway is quicker and has more tempo as I stated above (although it might be slower than average), and I'm employing my innate athleticism to its fullest. But I have to say that I'm usually shocked and dismayed that if I come back to my living room even just five minutes later I find that I have lost this desired control and feel for the swing that I just had and could employ over and over again. Timing in the transition seems to be key and being off with it even a smidgen has significant consequences.

Whenever I've watched a PGA tour event live in person at the course I've noticed the players would always seem to have a release of the clubhead on the bottom of their swings with their iron shots that seemed so conspicuous but even funny in a cartoonish way. It was like the club wasn't going that fast but then there was this really quick mini-circle that was always there at the bottom and the ball would subsequently fly on the most beautifully consistent lines. Of note is that I never observe this when watching their swings on TV; it just seems different in person. Anyway, I've concluded that control over the bottoming out of the clubhead is fundamentally related to this funny-looking release that I've consistently seen on their iron swings in person. It just allows for the massive generation of clubhead speed IMO.

I believe this concept of controlling the bottoming out of the clubhead is so important for my own game, but I must admit it is a bit funny that I didn't actually go into any specific detail about how I achieve it in a dry swing in spite of so many words, but thanks to anyone who bothered to read this.
