Our south course is getting renovated over the summer. New greens and tee boxes. Right now they are in the process of killing off the greens. Sunday is the last day it is open. You should see these things. Probably running a 14 on the stimp meter. You have to watch out when you lean on the putter as it will slide right out from under you. They surprisingly hold shots coming into them though.

Are you excited about how the south course will be after the renovation?

The greens did need a redo. There were spots that were getting questionable, but it's gonna SUCK to not have one course until Labor Day. I need to start playing some other courses this summer.

Watching Rory “struggle” with his driver in a few spots today, I’m struck by these guys just continuing to let it fly. Don’t see him steering it out there.

Definitely something I struggle with is that steering wheel

Peeked at the tee sheet when I went off for today's round and almost the whole afternoon was completely blank. I need to remember that Mother's Day would be a great day to play 36.

Also: Forgot to restock my bag so I was playing whatever I had in the ball pocket and man the old Bridgestone e6 is still a great ball five years after they stopped making that kind.

From now until Labor Day you're not supposed to play in Florida. You're supposed to play 'at home' in NY, NJ, PA, OH, etc.

Fun site if u have 20 minutes to kill. Video preview for every hole on the supposedly incredible 27 hole layout. I feel like I already lost a dozen balls and I havent hit a shot yet.

I'm not sure this is even possible today with modern clubs.

There’s probably a million golfers that can affirm this is still possible with modern equipment.

I can never believe how close all the drooling spectators get to shots. Especially to the right of iron shots

Look for a couple of Gerald Ford golf videos for similar occurrences.

Fred Couples in that video might have the steepest backswing I've ever seen

This was awesome - made me a fan of Madelene and her caddie

New NLU video this week was pretty interesting. Would DJ Pie shoot better with the pins/flags removed from the greens and just playing yardages to the middle of the green. As a mid-handicap who sometimes tries too hard to hit a cut or draw to certain hole locations I love the exercise.

When I used to play my course as a single in the morning I would always pass the person cutting the holes by the 7th or so and play blind the rest of the way. I would know if it was front, middle, or back based on progression but that's it. One other advantage is my greens are small so if you hit it in the middle of the green you would never have more than about a 40 foot putt max.

OK place your bets!

First tournament back. I am playing in a 2-man scramble tomorrow, No mulligans, putt everything out, no BS. Guy playing with me has been as low as a 1 but is coming off of injury as well and it around a 5 currently.

Main goal is to not have to take a bogey. I think we can shoot around 9 under if all is going well. Birdie all of the par 5's, then find 5 more. Guessing winning score is -12.

Just had a career worst range session. Legitimately hozzle rocketed about 25-30% of my shots and couldn't figure it out. Something just felt off and there was a huge line for bays (city driving ranges are incredibly busy during the summer) so I didn't feel like I had the time to figure it out and just rushed through, putting in bad work.

It got me back to the basics, and I think these are two of the best videos I've ever seen for getting me into the right swing thoughts and swing path. When I'm swinging well, I almost have the feel of I'm "backing" my butt into the swing during transition, then once it's in position I can turn the hips and give the club the room to come through. When I'm swinging bad, I suck my butt towards the ball and the club has nowhere to go but over the top. I took a tooooon of really bad swings today.

I've done this too in fact I had a range session right before I teed off where I was shanking almost every shot. Almost didn't play it was so bad. Shanked a couple more on the first hole and then thankfully figured it out after that. Ended up having a pretty good round except for the double on the first.

For me, the #1 problem when I do this is bringing the club too straight back, so the club at the top is closer to 6 o'clock than 8 o'clock. Which means I'm not turning at all, although for me my body turns in reaction to my arms, not vice versa (see Monty Scheinblum's "no turn/cast" video for more explanation of this... probably the single best golf video on YouTube). If I try to reduce tension in my arms and focus on a circular swing and getting the club to that 8 o'clock-ish position, my hips usually take care of themselves.

My province (Ontario) is being run by the stupidest politician in history. He extended our stay at home order by 2 more weeks today including outdoor facilities and golf. A reporter asked him what his justification was for shutting down golf in the first place, he responded that "his golf buddies told him that they have a few beers in the parking lot after rounds" and he couldn't have that. Holy f*ck, I just can't.

Lol I thought Canadians were smarter than us in the US. Maybe I was wrong. Something like .1% of cases are spread outdoors, even less in a socially distant sport like golf.

Yah our premier is basically a Trump light. His justification is that they want to avoid excess excuses for people being out on the streets which I kind of get, but using his golf buddies to justify his decision making is such a joke.

The NCAA hosed a bunch of women's golf teams by cancelling the regional that was supposed to be held in Louisiana due to "course conditions". The highest seeded teams and individuals advanced without ever hitting a shot.

Barstool has been working on putting together an invitational for the teams that got screwed and it looks like it's a go. Say what you will about Barstool (in the politics forum of your choice, not in this thread) but it's pretty neat to see SOMEONE step up and give these women a chance to compete. Instead of ending their season with a DNS-NCAA decision they'll get to play an event in Arizona.
