No. They used to give you a 10% bonus when you loaded a range card, but they recently renovated the range, and ever since they no longer do that. They also raised the price by a dollar. If I bought a large bucket every day it would approach ~$4,750 by year's end! My twilight membership for the course is a fantastic deal at $1,070 for the entire year by comparison, and it is unlimited rounds from either one or two hours prior to regular twilight time.
A year or so back I checked out a place about 12 miles from me that offered for a year unlimited use of a grass range and a somewhat restricted short game practice area that I assume is in nice condition for around $2,500. Now I'm thinking it isn't necessarily so expensive after all. But I feel like the 12 mile commute is a big minus not just because my home course is a mere 4 miles away, but also because traffic could come into play more significantly. If the other place was the same commute, I might snap take the deal.
I also checked out the website of a spot that is quite popular in my larger vicinity that actually has two courses, one having been designed by Jack Nicklaus. They had membership deals for the courses that included unlimited range use for like just under $3,000 IIRC! But it is 30 miles away, which seems prohibitive. The 4 mile drive to my local course is huge plus really.
There is a funny tidbit about my range card at the local course that goes several years back, which is that one time they accidentally loaded $1,000 when I paid for just $100. But I got to thinking that it might have been a friendly gesture as they could have been well aware that I was frequenting it quite a bit, but I didn't want to seek clarity lest they end up correcting the "mistake." In hindsight though, that is still just peanuts compared to eventual expenditures. I wish I had started playing the course way back then rather than only using the range and practice greens, rather than waiting all the way to last November to finally get a membership. I had only played the course about two times with my brother many years ago around the time that he was on the high school golf team.
