Our winter sim league is restarting tonight, pretty much lost 2/3 of it from early December until now. But glad that we'll get a few weeks on the sims until April at least. It has been warm enough (i.e mid 40's) to melt a lot of snow so I'm hopeful we will be golfing in April and not May.

Good luck, whatever comes, Spotts. Sounds like you've got the right attitude to deal with good news or bad in any situation.

A few years back I bought my first new driver in about 20 years. The epic subzero. Now I've got a free fitting with Callaway on Friday to try out their new drivers. Has anyone tried them? I think there is a big bertha along with the Epic.

Hell yes Booker. The skis are leaving the car today and clubs are going in. Range tomorrow. I'm guessing actual golf next weekend.

Thanks. It felt good, but the difference wasn't great enough to buy it. He had me hit a 4 wood, but I liked the combo of my current setup, 3w, 5w.

Hit a small bucket of balls this afternoon after not touching a club since early December. One word:

LOLOLOLOL

Expectations were pretty low but JFC. Hit most of the irons fat. Very fat. Hit a couple so-so hybrids, one really good 3 wood and then striped five or six drivers to wrap it up.

Hoping to walk nine tomorrow, it could be fugly.

Last weekend I skied on Saturday and then played golf on Sunday.

Any great golf books you guys recommend? Not necessarily a "how to play golf" book just any great autobiographies or books on golf to read with a drink in hand on a warm spring/summer day?

I’m fond of Feinstein’s golf books. Good looks at the inner happenings of majors to Q school. Shows just how awesome and brutal things can be.

So what kind of doctor schedules a surgery for late afternoon? Answer: mine. I was able to have dry bread before 8am today and clear liquids til 10am. I don't check in until 3:45 so I'm guessing it doesn't happen til like 5:30p. I'm probably going to be so far out of it that I will forget to eat tonight. I could stand to miss a few meals though so...

The guy who took my gall bladder out scheduled it for a Friday @ 4pm IIRC, but it was only scheduled the day before. Turned out to be closer to 5pm. Nothing like knowing you're being operated on by a bunch of folks eager to leave for the weekend! Fortunately (?) the pain kept me awake most of Thursday night so I slept a lot of Friday while waiting.

It'll be fine!

Have any of you played Jacaranda near Fort Lauderdale? I am wondering if I should book the East course or the West. My friends and I are all around a 25 handicap.

Thanks for any advice.

I'm almost certain the East is the better course. I have heard good things about it.

Agreed, Feinstein's books are great. I've read A Good Walk Spoiled 3-4 times, and Tales from Q School is just as great, if not better.

I really like Dan Jenkins' stuff, too. Jenkins at the Majors is great.

For something a little drier but incredibly interesting (at least to me) is The Masters: Golf, Money, and Power in Augusta Georgia.

It's not for everyone, but I'm a fan of Golf in the Kingdom if you want something mystical and perhaps overly reverent to the game of golf. I've got a first edition in plastic I lugged around in my glove compartment for a while because a guy I played poker with is good friends with Michael Murphy and told me he'd get it signed for me. But I never ran into him again, ha (he did give me a Shivas Irons Society hat, so I've got that going for me).

For the podcast folks, Foreplay Pod's interview with Butch Harmon was definitely worth a listen.

I really liked, A Difficult Par, by Robert Trent Jones. He believed every hole should be a difficult par and an easy bogey.

Dan Jenkins, Unplayable lies was an easy read.

Finally starting to feel better. They called me and had me come in an hour early so I had to rush to get there. No time tp panic, although im not really that type anyways.

Good thing I have a high pain tolerance. Felt the IV go in although not that bad. Then I had a nerve blocker for my right hand. That was the biggest needle ever and it went in right around my armpit! Luckily I didn't really feel that one too much. I remember being wheeled into the operating room and that's it. Dont remember them saying here comes the knockout juice or anything.

Wake up in recovery. Apparently I don't sleep well on my back. They said to get checked for sleep apnea. They had to stick a tube in my throat to get me to breathe better.

The nerve blocker is no joke. I couldn't feel anything below my elbow until about 1am. When I hopped into bed my arm hit my face, had no control of it, lol.

So far I have taken just one of the oxycodone pills they prescribed and that was to go to sleep the first night. Have stuck to regular advil since. Yesterday the hand was really tight and sore. I have a wrap and a splint on it that will stay on for 2 weeks until I get the stitches out.

Today I feel great!
