I know You probably don't care, but this is a first season ever that Poland got a player on European Tour, and right now he is a leader after 3 rounds (was a leader after 1st and 2nd round as well) of Alfred Dunhill Championship.

Could be huge for a golf in Poland where it's still being recognized as a sport for elites, richs or old people

Go Meronk !!

That's awesome!

Hope it's the first of many to come

Having a 'local' make it big is so important to grow the interest of any sport nationally - as a Norwegian we've obviously not been a huge golf-nation, but we've had a few good players (Suzann Pettersen on the womens side, some ET and LET players and Bjřrnstad on the PGA previously), but it's only with Hovland and (hopefully soon) Ventura that Norway is close to really playing in the big leagues on the mens side.

Hovland has definitely raised the focus on golf even among those who do not play (yet) here.

I had a golf-trip to Poland a few years back actually - played some courses around Gdansk and played my first, and so far only, par 6 hole there - Hole 7 in Tokary Golf Club

We were really lucky with the weather and had a fantastic time there - both for the golf and other stuff. Definitely want to go back there to play some more some day, so I'm a big fan of anything that increases the interest in golf in Poland.

Not this time.
Shared 2nd, 4 behind
Questionable play on 18th, after two players hit water and one OB. Par was enough for solo 2nd. After massive driver on this par5 he decided to attack green with 2nd shot (already knew that par is enough) and put it in the water as well..

I don't know what the 18th looks like, but it wasn't necessarily a bad play. It's possible things get weird if you have a shot where you would normally just hit into the green, lay up, and then have a short wedge shot. Depending on how much trouble is around the green it can be better to play away from the trouble, chip on and 2 putt for par.

Dont know.

I understand that with short shots backspin comes into play and its sometimes harder, but on this hole more players laid up than didnt. Plus stronger wind

I don't know. It showed up randomly on Twitter. I assume that's Harbour Town. I'm guessing he nailed a tree straight off the tee and ended up in a weird spot?

Read that Peter Alliss passed away. Didn't really know him as a player but he was my favorite golf announcer of all time. RIP.

Since it's looking more and more line my golfing year is done, some stats!

Total # of rounds posted to GHIN: 194
Low score: 70
High Score: 94
Average Score: 78.2
Handicap 1/1: 5.7
Handicap 12/13: 2.3
Low Handicap: 1.1 (on 9/25)
High Handicap: 6.8 (on 2/23)
Total Eagles: 11
Total Albatross: 1

Not a shock that no travel for covid was good for one thing. I was a 6/0 on 3/1 when I basically stopped traveling for the year. I started playing every Tuesday and Thursday am along with my usual Saturday and Sunday games. I also had a regular range session at lunch on Wednesdays.

Although the year came to an unfortunate end, I am looking forward to 2021.

Really good question. It was on a Saturday back in the very beginning of the year. I totally don't even remember the round at all. At first I thought it was going to be a tournament round. I remembered playing an event with 25 mph winds on the tightest course ever with water or OB on each side of the fairway, but nope. Was actually at my home course.

lol, yes, on the course!

I probably even spend half the amount of time there than others who play half that number of rounds. And no, they are not employees!!!!

Although nearly everyone does know my name there with the exception of some of the waitresses.

Was able to chip and putt today with no pain. Progress!!! I think the furthest shot I attempted was 30-40 yards. Going to hold off one more week before I start to take bigger swings.

Am I the only one here that has a golf course behind his thought palace?

Dammit now I gotta shovel the thought palace driveway too.

Sometimes laying in bed I imagine playing golf. The more thoroughly I cover the details of the experience, the easier I fall asleep.

some people count sheep to fall asleep, i play golf courses hole by hole, especially if i'm playing them the next day.
i've lost count of the number of times i've been dreaming about swinging a club and startled myself awake. i'm sure spouse hasn't.

For anyone who has mastered Peacock, is there any way to tell short of opening the app if the coverage is going to require the premium subscription? I duly switched over to Peacock while watching something the other day (I forget whether it was the PNC, the ladies at the CME or something else) and it required premium. Of course the TV people said nothing about that, just that coverage continued on Peacock.

I'm not interested in paying $5/mo for it, since there isn't a single other thing outside golf that I'd watch. I'd just like to not get Peacock-blocked when I'm told to go there to watch.

If you’re playing in Scotland you can do both at the same time.

It was the PNC event. I did hear them during some broadcast saying the event was gonna start on Peacock premium. I still checked anyways and saw it was blocked.

Oh and they do have a 7 day free trial you can do. I grabbed it to watch the new Saved by the Bell. Actually was good.
