Super fun and pretty easy to ride and get used to. Did it a few years ago with my gf and her dad and after 1 hole we were all getting along great.

Also great to go over to someone's board while they're hitting and put it in reverse (no loud beep like a cart). Of course make sure there is room behind where they are.

I thought my round a few weeks ago with temps in the mid 30's and rain was annoying, it turns out there are worse golf experiences to be had in Colorado: https://www.tmz.com/2020/10/06/golfe...dney-shredded/

No Laying Up has kicked off their season 6 of Tourist Sauce and it's based in Oregon.
the first episode premiered just a few minutes ago and is a mish-mash of Portland courses...some really good, some pitch & putt (looking at you McMenamins) looking forward to future episodes to see what other courses they highlight.

Loved the commentary at Eastmoreland, with 90% of the shots from the trees, ha.

that's pretty much Emo in a nutshell.
the biggest love/hate relationship i have with any course on this planet is with Emo.

Loved seeing Wildwood; about 13 years ago I played a couple seasons of the Wednesday Night 9 hole league, two man best ball. I'm not surprised Ben went low, it's a pretty short course and pretty easy to score if you're making putts. Definitely made me want to get back there, it's probably been ten years since I've played it.

the funny thing about seeing that video yesterday evening is i played Wildwood yesterday morning for the second time ever. yes, it's short and has some really quirky holes, but to be -7 after 12 holes is bonkers.

Oh yeah, for sure.

Soooo quirky. Favorite quirky hole is the par 4 where you go 250~ straight down the fairway, then go 45 degrees and 20 yards to the right to the green (massive trees, so can’t drive it).

Getting tired of playing out of rock hard bunkers. It's generally a summer thing around here, but I go to places that don't have this issue. You get what looks like a halfway decent lie only to hit it and find out there is only 1" of sand followed by hard packed wet sand where the bounce of the club kicks the leading edge up and you thin it 50 feet past the hole.

I really, really need to get on the golf committee.

The other place I regularly play at got new bunker sands this year. They put quite a bit of sand in and early on was very soft. Think they started to be okay during late summer. But they got a lot of complaints about the bunkers, so they decided to renew the bunkers again. They have 3 courses and it costs 100k€ per course. Some secret sand mixture (lol), they changed some bunkers already and seems good and the white colour does look cool. But yea did not know that the mixtures can be a secret.

I have to give a hat tip to the marketing guy who took a commodity like freaking sand and came up with a way to charge more by claiming he had a proprietary sand blend.

not trying to be a dick, but how many beaches have you been to? sand has a wide range of variables based on the types and sizes of rocks, minerals, and other ingredients it's made of.

the situation scott mentions above is most likely a result of the particular sand mix not being a great fit in the florida environment he plays in. my guess is there are too many really fine grained particles that clump together when they get wet (think mud) in a climate that sees brief periods of rain almost every day. combine that with a poor drainage system in the bunkers and you get a situation where you're trying to play a bunker shot off an inch of feathers on top of a parking lot.

it's totally plausible somebody somewhere has found the optimal mix of rock and mineral particles, without the fine grained mud making stuff, that can result in decently consistent bunker play in that particular climate.

I’m a big big fan of course operators that go cheap on bunker sand and use lake/play sand that’s so heavy you might break a wrist if you try to blast out, and also those that drop a half inch of sand on top of black dirt.

I was looking forward to seeing Shadow Creek, but this coverage sucks. Can't they get any cameras behind the tees other than number 10?

Thought I would share a story about my Saturday group. The detail of the email I received yesterday pretty much sums it all up. Names have been removed.

Gentlemen,

Both xxx and I want to reach out to everyone in our xxx xxx group with xxx contracting the Covid 19 virus three weeks ago and where we are with this. As of right now, we have chosen to protect our group to any exposure by informing xxx that he must have at least one negative test before he can rejoin our group for golf. He has declined and instead has quoted some CDC guideline for the virus and doesn’t feel he has to be tested. He has also informed us that he is immediately withdrawing from our group, will not participate in the xxx xxx Ryder Cup tournament and has backed out of hosting the after party.

As you are all aware, xxx, xxx and I have been very close friends for over twenty years and we feel badly that xxx is reacting this way. Three weeks ago xxx exposed xxx, xxx and me by showing up to golf feeling very sick and then after golf tested positive for the virus. Since then, xxx, xxx and I have all been tested and our results were all negative, thank God. With that being said xxx and I will leave the decision up to all of you individually as to whether you would golf with xxx in your foursome or not. Each week I would split the foursomes accordingly.

Please reply back to me with a cc to xxx and keep your reply confidential or if you want to “reply all” that will be up to each one of you:

Yes – I will golf with xxx in my foursome
No – I would prefer not to play with xxx in my foursome

Would you please let us know as soon as possible and by Wednesday at the latest. Thank you.

A little bit of added color to this group. The guy who runs it is known as The Godfather. He runs a tight ship and you generally don't want to be on his bad side otherwise he will let you know it. A few months ago someone cancelled out Saturday morning because he forgot he was out of state and the guy who runs it sent an email to everyone letting it be known this is "unacceptable".

He def can be a dick that way, but I have filled in for running my Sunday group on occasion, I know it's like herding cats and if you don't lay down the lay you will go crazy.

I'm torn on how to respond back. I think requiring a negative test is crazy, but I think 3 weeks is too short of a time for him to come back. I don't mind playing with him but I also prefer to play with the usual group of 3 he always puts me in, and if I say yes then I might not get to play with my usual fun group of players.

So much drama...

wonder if the godfather's attitude about attendance had something to do with the guy showing up even though he was really sick.

I would think the ONE TIME he would give a pass is if he says, I have covid bro.

to be honest, if someone in my 30+ person group showed up with obvious symptoms and still decided to play he would likely be perma-banned from ever joining the group again.
a majority of that group is in the high risk population and why would you even risk the health of your friends in that situation?

If I get COVID I would want to have a negative test before hanging out with people. It seems like a reasonable thing to ask for. Even if the godfather is a dick I don't blame him for being salty after the dude exposed him.

But to answer your question since you have a foursome you already like and don't want it broken up I would just go with no.

Right!?!

I'm gonna just say that I have no problem playing with him once plenty of time has passed.
