You have a perfect lie when you use a tee. You never have a perfect lie when you don't. People have all sorts of rationale for not using a tee. But if you don't use that advantage, you're giving away strokes.

if using a tee wasn't an advantage the rules would let you use one on every shot.

sounds like me, the only club I use a tee for is my driver.

I know it's a mental thing but whenever I try to hit an iron off of a tee I always blade it off to the right. Instead of trying to figure out why, I just gave up trying the bizarre thing is that if my ball is teed up slightly in the rough, I hit the ball just fine.

I find it strange and funny how people delude themselves on the golf course. Played with a guy the other day, I was not keeping track of his score but he was topping balls off the tee, taking mulligans, shanking chip shots, etc. At the last hole he said, "Well, I need to par this last one for an 85, which is about my average". I did not say anything, and was not keeping track, but if he was below 100 I'd be shocked. I guess he just feels better thinking he shoots 85. No bother to me, but it's just interesting. Golf is an interesting insight into human psychology.

Dumb stuff like that costing me strokes is so frustrating. Same with trying to hit a shorter club that I'm likely less consistent with, like 3W or 5W off the tee instead of driver. I feel like if I can learn & play my patterns somewhat near properly, I'd be 10 times the player I am now.
I actually tee my iron shots up a little higher than most, not right down to the ground, maybe a half inch above. Just gives me more confidence and I find I get better height and contact.

The only clubs I use a tee are my driver and 3 wood. When using my hybrid or any iron off of the tee I just do the old Laura Davies move of bumping the ground with my club and creating a grass tee. I don't do it as extreme as she does. I just bump it with whatever club I'm teeing off with.

Member guest tourney coming up this weekend. Format is a three man scramble. Five 9 hole match play matches. Teams are handicapped and flighted using 50% A player index, 30% B player, 20% C player.

This leads to some interesting matches in the first and last flight, with up to three strokes being given over nine holes on some matches in both flights.

There is also some interesting spots like a scratch teamed with two 24+ handicappers in the 6th flight.

Not sure what to think. Contemplating which teams to go after in the Calcutta.

Easy, pick the member who always brings in the biggest sandbagger. Events like these are always about who cheats the most before a shot is struck.

Way too easy for a non-member to fudge his handicap.

Sandbagging has a smaller impact when it’s a 3 man scramble tho, no?

Does every team have an A, B and C player? Or does the team with the scratch and two 24's count as an A and 2 C players?

Is it one member and two guests? If so, that’s 67% of the team cheating before any golf is played. Compared to the typical member guest that’s 1 member 1 guest.

Look, just go out and have fun. But make no mistake, any event that involves guests and handicaps is won and lost before the tournament starts. Don’t over think how you’re going to pick a winner.

Every team has an ABC. Scratch plus two 24+ would be A - scratch, B 24.1, C 24.5

It can be 1+2 or 2+1. We do at require an official WHS handicap to play, even as a guest... but I hear what you’re saying.

I was looking at my par 5 scoring and it's pretty obvious where my good numbers are coming from. On the one course where all 4 par 5's are reachable for me my stats over the last few rounds are crazy good.

Hole 1 (502y): Last 14 rounds 7 birdies, 6 pars 1 bogey
Hole 9 (490y): Last 8 rounds 6 birdies, 2 pars
Hole 13 (504y): Last 10 rounds 7 birdies, 2 pars, 2 doubles
Hole 18 (514y): Last 13 rounds 7 birdies, 6 pars

Sometimes the 9th hole tee markers are pushed up to the next tee forward which would be 470y.

From the par 3 teeing it up discussion: Definitely my bad on that. Played a round today where I teed up from each par 3, even my 52*, and hit them great. I was definitely teeing things up way too high before, or not paying enough mind to how uneven some tee boxes are.

A while back, I think somebody asked about how to take a divot or how to hit the ball first and take a divot later. This article came across my feed today

Golfmagic.com: How to hit the golf ball first and then the turf with your irons.
https://www.golfmagic.com/best-tips-...urf-your-irons

I'm a little surprised about step three where he says to keep your weight on your front side with the driver. When my wife had a lesson last year, He told her to keep about 60% of her weight on her back foot.

Alright guys. I'm far from good but am hitting my irons consistently and keep duff's to a minimum which makes playing so much more fun. 56 sand wedge is my best club so short game is pretty good (except really really close or downhill/uphill but not that concerned). Putting has worsened but not concerned about that either

Need your best tips videos etc to keep drives straight. Don't even care about distance but I know if I can make my 2nd shot consistently be in the fairway I can break 100 this summer. 4 hybrid just arrived today. Cant wait to break it out.

But I like to set 1 goal at a time and now its hitting my driver consistently straight. Have gone down the YouTube rabbit hole with no real breakthroughs. Turning to the awesome dudes at 2p2 for guidance. You guys are the best!

Not sure what this means but it's a slice. Even when I connect what I feel like is dead clean the last 1/4 of the drive slices right (I'm a righty). If I dont connect clean it slices much more.

Leads to me aiming well left of the fairway to get a shot on the fairway which obviously isnt sustainable.

I'm open to anything from setup to grib to swing to stance etc....

I’m good, but not good enough to diagnose an issue without video. 🤔

Are you offering video lessons?

Do you grip your driver the same way you grip every other club? Some of the stuff I've seen on youtube suggests a different grip

No. But I can take a quick look at a swing and offer a thought or two to correct an issue.

Absolutely. However the driver is the only club that you want to swing up on slightly compared to all other clubs which you want to hit down on. Yes, this includes fairway woods and hybrids.
