several guys in my group that play twice a week have said they will walk on even if shelter in place is implemented.

played a local muni today and they are cutting the holes a little deeper and inverting the sleeve in the hole. flag stays in obv. no rakes in the bunkers and they told us to lift clean & place if in the sand.

Does anyone have the link to a game that was posted on this forum once before called Sevens or something like that?

It's a practice game where you try to score 7 points I believe.
Drive two. If both go in fairway its 2 points.

Then walk to 100 yards and in and hit 1.

Then walk up to the green and chip 2 from two difficult lies and then putt them all in?

Best possible score is 7 I believe.. Anyone have the link?

For that matter I wonder if people might just start wandering onto the course on their own to play. If you are not paired up with anyone, it's probably safer than going for a walk down the street, where you're likely to encounter a lot of other people out walking.
A course near me has a very big putting green and chipping/bunker area. We will be there when it gets warmer. I have a feeling that we won't be the only ones and I guess we should try not to sink the putt 🤷*♂️🤔

My golf course has been one of the few still open in the area. The weather has been good the last few days and its been super packed, so I've just been hitting balls and working on my short game. The shelter in place order came out tonight so now I'm just going to be doing drills in my basement and working the speed sticks.

Spoiler:
womp womp

My state just enacted shelter in place order and all courses are closed for the next 2 weeks.

Apparently we are allowed to run, bike, walk ect for exercise.

What do you guys think about playing solo on closed courses?

Probably will regardless but it would be nice to get some encouragement. Thanks!

Do you have kids? If so, is that the kind of example you'd like to set?

That's a tough one. I'm torn right now on whether I should be playing or not (I am currently playing) and our course is open. I think if it's closed then it's a no go, sorry.

Seems like its worse for the spread of corona to play on course that is open especially if you are playing with others or taking a loaned cart.

^^^that is how you can manage things and still be safe. our local munis and other courses are doing the same thing and still open even though the Gov. has issued a shelter in place. they also have a 8.5 x 11 laminated card ziptied to each flag reminding you to leave it in place. stay apart from each other and i honestly can't see why this wouldn't work.

Our local muni's have the clubhouse closed now and it's walking only. Honor box on the 1st tee and they want you to drop $20 in. Someone I know went today and said they were about the only people there.

On a side note one of the muni's is in a horrible part of town. Likelihood of that box being stolen is around 80%.

Wish they could do that here. Governor has gone back and forth but ultimately decided no golf allowed.

These are the current Coronavirus rules at the most or 2nd most crowded LV muni Angel Park:

Quote:
At Angel Park, the safety of our guests and employees is always our main objective. Due to the current COVID-19 concerns, we taken the following precautions:

Online reservations and payments will be encouraged.
Tee times will occur in 12-minute intervals from 8am to 3pm.
Staff will not be assisting guests with their clubs or personal items.
On course grab-and-go items and beverages will be available, based on activity.
The Cloud 9 Course will be Walking Only (Pull carts available).
Individual carts, if requested, will be permitted based on availability.
Staff will clean and sanitize carts before and after each use.
Guests can elect to use GolfBoards. Based on availability and registration.
Rakes and ball washers have been removed from the course.
We have inverted our putting cups and flags are always to remain in the hole.
my guess is it was a total free-for-all bum rush given how crowded that course is on a March weekend; these rules don't seem terribly restrictive.

Courses in Denver area all closed earlier this week, but a bunch are starting to get exemptions to reopen. Mine is opening back up this weekend, with no carts, no range, and spaced out tee times. They're pushing up the aeration to this week instead of mid-late April, which is good.

I bought the new SIM 9 degree head to replace my M5 Tour 9 degree, and got to hit a whopping 5 balls with it on Wednesday. Also got a 50/54 degree Vokey SM8. Eager to get back out and mess around with them.

I need an explanation why walking a couple miles on grass chasing a stupid white (or yellow) ball around sounds like fun and I want to do it while just going outside for a walk is ALL HELL NAW I’m going to stay here on the couch.

Sigh.

Stay at home order starts here in Florida at Midnight tonight. Somehow they decided that golf is an allowable leisure activity. I mean, I guess if they are allowing church services and gun stores as essential businesses, then I should be allowed to golf, right?

Hopefully they aren't putting 2 people in carts. They were doing that here until a few days ago. Seems ******ed to me that anyone would do that.

No, they haven't been doing that for 2 weeks now. We are operating at half of the tee time availability now too. Every 15 minutes instead of 7/8.

I'd be a lot more unhappy about being in a red dot state if the weather forecast didn't completely suck for the next 15 days.

i still believe more than appropriate safety measures can be taken and still play a round of golf, provided the course has taken all precautions.

my group still gets out a couple of times a week. the betting games are still being played but nobody is posting scores because the rules are lax for gimmie distance to reduce the number of times someone has to get their ball out of an inverted cup.
hey, i don't make the rules...i just bet by them.
