Please note, I'm not suggesting either TM or Callaway is going away. TM is privately held for one although when it was sold 2+ years ago, it was mainly because it was not profitable at that time. TM has also not exhibited at the PGA merchandise show the last two years.

Callaway is a publicly traded company however. But even if it is declares, that doesn't mean it's going away. Just something perhaps to watch going forward with it's stock price.

golf spending is hard for many when the economy tightens.

New information. It's ok to golf as I think the link now states after it was clarified

i live in vancouver, bc, canada............... vancouver, burnaby, north vancouver muni's shut in the last day. not sure about all municipalities or the very few non-muni public courses. it'll be a complete "mad house" anywhere that is open

In Colorado the muni courses near me closed a few days ago. My course is still open and I'm going out every day as long as I can. I have a feeling they will have to close at some point. They are letting members check in online and grab a cart and go so you don't have to walk into the pro shop. Played 13 holes yesterday afternoon by myself playing 2 and 3 balls and it was blissful.

golf could be one of few 'physically separate' activities available in the foreseeable future that has potential to make enough money to break even. pay green fees via app, leave the pin in, don't rake the sand, use your own push cart, no shared flasks, etc.

i think we are headed for "don't leave your house without a work or 'essential to life' reason"......... i think if they make a few exceptions, like golf with its fresh air, that people will just disregard the entire directive........ edit: i should add i think they will always allow you to walk around your block for fresh air/exercise. but that's it.

I can't believe my club is still serving food. The only thing they did is reduce capacity and shut down bar seating. It's Club Corp so those greedy bastards are gonna bleed every dollar out of their membership til people die, literally. You would think that they would take a little more precaution since the average age at my club has to be in the mid 60's.

Callaway now down 75%, Titleist down roughly 33% in that time. Over the last couple of years Callaway has bought several other golf related companies.

I read that some courses were raising the cup above ground level so I the ball wouldn't go into the hole and people wouldn't need to reach down to retrieve their it. Good thinking.

I've been reading the GolfWRX travel forum to keep up on what courses are doing and boom today they start locking a bunch of threads. I haven't read them all but I guess you can't talk about golf travel without it devolving into a bunch of politarding.

LOL'd, will LOL again.

Bummed that I don't get to go to the Pinehurst area this year tho

Courses in NJ now closed due to shelter in place order. I am wondering if I just drove out to my local public course with a bag of my own shag balls, if they would mind me hitting on the range.

For that matter I wonder if people might just start wandering onto the course on their own to play. If you are not paired up with anyone, it's probably safer than going for a walk down the street, where you're likely to encounter a lot of other people out walking.
