You sure do come up on it at impact. Nothing to flame about. I don't have a slow motion option. It's all over so fast!

One of the major things I have changed is the ball height on the tee. It really makes me have a positive AOA at the ball.

I actually thought I saved it in slow motion, guess not.

No flaming, but since you teed it up...

You take it back quite a bit inside but it doesn't seem to be a big deal because you correct that coming back down so I wouldn't be concerned. The big problem I see is early extension. You're almost standing past straight up and down at impact, losing all of your spine angle. I'm guilty of this as well and I couldn't tell you how or if you should try to fix it. I think you just need to turn the hips more and get them more open at impact but there are probably a few other things causing you to do it that need to be addressed. That's where a lesson would come in. I'm guessing you hit the ball a long ways though huh? 280+?

Doing a Vegas golf/poker/gambool trip in a little over a week, Mon-Thurs. Course recommendations? Would prefer to mostly stay around $50 or under, but willing to go up if there's good quality to be had.

Guess I better go out and play as much as I can through Sunday before the big old hurricane blows through. The last one we had that made landfall in Naples we still had 100 trees down on my course and no play for almost 2 weeks.

magnitude 6.3 quake about 200 miles off the coast of Bandon this morning, happened around 8am.
tsunami didn't happen, but i can't help but wonder if anyone had it help or hurt a shot at the time, especially a putt.

god what a great risk/reward hole. drive depends so much on the wind direction and that second shot to an infinity green is nuts. twice i've landed on the green and rolled back into that devil's ******* bunker. had to pitch out backwards both times.

one of my favorite holes on the entire property

DAMNIT!!! Today was the first day of the year that everything clicked and I felt as good as when I got my new clubs last year. The ball left the club like it "should" and like I'm used to seeing. Prior to today my irons were a mess.... The driver is always a work in progress, but with my irons I was hitting the ball lower than ever and the flight just wasn't what I was used to . I've always hit it really, really high regardless of the club.

The distance isn't there, but I guess that happens when you get older. The accuracy was and the window that I'm used to seeing the ball in was back with all my irons.

I made sure to accelerate through the shot and throw my hips into it and there was a world of difference. I gave up on the one lesson I ever had this year and went back to just hitting the damn ball and stopped analyzing everything. Where's the ball in my stance? How fast do I bring it back? How far? Do I lift my left foot?

**** it. I just got up and didn't think of anything and just hit the damn ball. Felt good. And now there is less than a month left in the season I guess so I have to do it all again next year

Sounds like you need to reread Rotella.

Had such a fun day out yesterday. A good round for me is 110. My buddies shoot consistently in the high 90s/low 100s and a good score is in the high 80s/low 90s. My uncle took us out on a nice course and he consistently shoots in the low to mid 90s and a good round is low to mid 80s.

So we did group play me and my uncle vs my two buddies and I got 5 strokes each 9 and we played h2h like match play so you either win/lose or halve the hole and I got a stroke on the 10 hardest holes based on handicap.

I started out with two double par snowmen on the first two holes which we obv lost and it seemed like a long day. We halved the next hole thanks to my handicap stroke and hung around til like the 6th hole.

Then it just clicked. I went on the first real heater I've ever been on on a golf course for a sustained time. On 11 I had the first birdie of the day out of the group which felt amazing and there was only 1 other birdie the entire day from my uncle. I only hit a couple duffs and was making solid contact. Even if it didnt always go straight it just felt good. Then I **** the bed on the last 3 hole to finish with a 106 but between like 5 and 15 I only had 1 bad hole and avoided double par the entire time which is another huge win. I also didnt lose a ball after losing one on the first and one on the second hole so I was keeping the ball in play.

It was just fun to be able to hang and the handicap made it a competitive format. I still ended up posting the worst score of the group but not by much and we might have won even without my handicap strokes. No one played great and I was told over and over it was a tough course. I also didnt have to hit too many long irons in the fairway which is a weakness of mine and was able to hit my wood and hit it great. Cant wait to get out again

nice work LFC!
it's really fun when a run like that happens...and demonstrates why you shouldn't get in a shitty mood after a couple of bad holes and give up on a round.

This is the exact thing that I STILL haven't figured out.

Need to actually enjoy the good shots. Most good players I have ever played with are "meh" even when they stick it to 8 foot from 150. Got to enjoy that. That's significantly better than tour pro average and you are a 4 handicap dude. But they are disgusted when they don't hit it out of the sweetspot and are on the fringe. Recipe for terminal lack of enjoyment. Doesn't mean you have to be satisfied with your current level. Quote the opposite.

Anyone regrip their own clubs? Thinking of doing it myself if it's easy enough.

yep, did it a month or so ago for the first time. by the second club i was in a groove and it only takes a few minutes per club...the longest part was removing the old tape.

you can even buy regrip kits on amazon that have the solvent, hook knife, rubber vise clamp, and tape along with the grips. probably not the best value when compared to buying everything separately but easy one click shopping.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

here's one example of how to do it. a vise is really nice to have and i can imagine it being much harder without it.

When I was in high school ages ago I regripped my own clubs. These days I'm too lazy. Plus the local Edwin Watts I go to doesn't charge me labor. He does all of my club work. If he ever retires I am screwed.

Maybe that will be the time I invest in a loft/lie machine.

Most places only charge an extra $1 per club to regrip if you buy the grips from them. Totally worth it IMO. But then again, I regrip all my own clubs so what does that tell you?

I prefer not to use double sided tape. Instead I put 2 extra wraps of masking tape on and use an air compressor to blow them on and they are tight enough that they don't slip. I can also take them back off again with air without destroying them. Generally double sided tape means you have to cut them off and there is no saving them. Changing grips is super fast and easy this way because I don't have to get all the old sticky nasty tape off and redo it all. Also, don't have to buy mineral spirits. Just a little spit on the end of the grip to get it started. Blow the old one off and blow the new one on. No new tape is needed.

Regripping clubs IS easy, but it's still hassle enough that I just pay a place to do it. I don't change my own oil either. I think they're pretty on par with each other as far as hassle and money savings go.
