Yes, I 'lock' my arms in a 'V' and do the classic pendulum swing, increasing the arc for longer putts.

Some of the worst long-putters I see at my club are those that take a short backswing and accelerate really quickly to try to get the required speed at impact - this causes erratic results in a majority of those players imo.

One of the guys does the same with his green-side chipping - he is going to be one of those who will gain most by the new rules as he double-hits on those shots more than anyone I have ever seen!

I'm not saying what's right or wrong, but adding moving parts to something that can be reduced to something simpler sounds like you're making it harder than it needs to be.

Assuming you're righty if I remember the clips you've posted correctly, if you grip way down on the club with your left hand, like almost to the metal, and then took your right hand and "clamped" the part of the grip that's sticking up against the inside of your left forearm, this should force you to take the hands out of the swing and you'll feel the shoulders doing all the work.

This image is close to what I'm talking about. What I mean with the right hand is actually wrapping your right fingers around the left forearm to kinda clamp the grip against the side of your arm.

Also, I know technically the club releases through a putt, but I think if you simplified the motion down to its base parts, you'd take a lot of the guess-work and variance out of your putts.

I'm a lefty, so yeah it's always natural to just assume the opposite

That's what I have been experimenting with. Something to lock it down so there are few moving parts. At least something I am comfortable with if it goes haywire during a round. I never start the day with a lost feeling on the greens, only some time during the round for some reason.

Thanks for the reply!

Note that what I'm suggesting is more of a drill or just something to get the feel of something. I'd hope it's obvious that I'm not suggesting to use this set up as a putting grip on the course. Just as a method to feeling your wrists and hands being quiet and "locked".

I was putting front-hand-low before that was a thing. I was hitting putts lefty with the back of my putter and noticed it was a lot easier for me to move the club straight back and through (I use face balanced putters), so I kept the same lefty-grip and tried putting right handed and started putting way better immediately. My teammates in high school used to make fun of me for putting with a lefty grip but I made a lot more putts than they did, so they stopped. Then a couple years later cross-handed putting started getting popular and I felt vindicated. I don't know if it's a product of the shoulders being a little more level or if it's the restriction to wrist break/twist, but I think everyone should try it at least.

Did some practice with it out on the course because I was waiting on the fivesome ahead of me for a couple of holes. Works pretty good to hold the line just needed some practice on the speed part of the putts.

Later in the round I was messing around with various putts and grips, and I noticed that I am really fixated on where the putter is taking it back and not looking at the ball. After that small adjustment I was hitting putts much better for both pace and line. See if that works again when I go out the next few days.

isnt it ryder cup tradition to set the golf course up in a way to give your side the biggest edge?

oh forgot to mention, Sim RyderCup has been going on for a little bit now. We are ahead of our (losing) pace from last year, hoping to pull off the overall win this time.

Dunno about the guys but Ryann O'Toole has had a decent career on the LPGA.

Spoiler:
Reading the Big Break wiki was illuminating. Easy to forget about Matt Every, Tommy Two Gloves, etc.

Blair O'Neal won a season of it. She turned that into a decent career away from the tour.

I'm a fan of the whole female golfer / instagram model trend. Women's golf has definitely come a long way since the days of Meg Mallon and Laura Davies.

GC Am Tour National Finals starts tomorrow. 4 rounds over 4 different courses. 105 players in my flight and they pay the top 27. Goal is to make the money. Overachieving goal is a top 10.

What kind of setups are people using for video swing analysis? I feel like some kind of camera that streams to my phone so I can replay stuff instantly would be useful. I'm guessing there's nothing golf specific out there that's good?

You can just use your phone. They sell a holder for your phone that attaches to an alignment stick. I thin it's called Golf Selfie if I remember correctly.
