Yellow ProVs coming next season. I'm sure I'll be testing them (and the AVX) since at some point I'm going to exhaust my stash of Bridgestones and NXT Tour S.

Dunno exactly how I got used to playing yellow balls, laziness probably had something to do with it.

Hot take: I have never consciously noticed a difference in any golf ball I have played, ever.

Heading to Fort Myers next week and want to get a few rounds in. Off season prices hella cheap, anyone have any course recommendations?

If you want to go a bit further south go play Old Corkscrew in Naples if you want your teeth kicked in, or so I have heard.

If you want really cheap golf come to Tampa and you can play at my home course. Our guest rates are great.

We were looking at old corkscrew, definitely going to be playing it and looking forward to some big scores (for my buddies)!

If we make a side trip to Tampa I'll let you know, thanks.

Its hella cheap but also hella hot and humid in August. Try to get out as early in the day as possible.

Tee up a Top Flight and then a Callaway SuperSoft back to back once.

8:24a off of #10 at Disney Palm next Friday for the Mid-Senior Championship.

154 players, low 60 and ties make the cut after the second round. My goal is to make the cut. Round 2 is at Reunion Watson and a much better fit of a course for me. As long as I can be around the cut line after round 1 I will like my chances.

Just watched some europro blade one out of a bunker into a grandstand.

Always nice to get a reminder (see also Rory hoseling wedges, pros missing 1 footers) that golf is hard.

+1.

I'm admittedly not a good golfer (around 18 hcp) but there has never been any shot in my life where I've thought "that'd be alright/better if I'd just had a different ball".

I can see practice, time, knowledge, lessons and clubs improving my game, but playing ball X vs Y is pretty far down my list.

I am very particular as to what ball I use, in competition at least. I have stuck to the same ball now ever since the TP5X came out. I will play Chrome Soft X when I am just messing around though.

I am a bit of an equipment freak though. I can even tell if the lofts of my irons are off 1*. I really should invest in a machine to adjust them myself.

i mostly agree with 2 proviso (probably just one that i describe 2 different ways):

1) i pretty much see that as true for any ball i paid for, new/used and soft/hard, cheap or expensive. it doesn't seem to matter that much to me ... crapppy balls i find on course and old balls that are somehow in your bag are completely different.

2) i do think the one place it makes a difference is putting. so much better to putt with just one type of ball all the time. but again like #1 it usually manifests itself strongly with old rock hard balls i play with sometimes.

Been playin so ****ty that havent been posting scores here, especially irons just brutal ugh.

Anywhoo, friend texted on saturday that he played in the clubs championships and one dude in group played quite a round. First 5 holes he was -1 after two bogies, an eagle and a birdie. Last 13 holes were -12. Back-nine all birdies. Normally it is a 6000y par 70, but now one par 4 is shorter and par 3. Pretty easy course, but yeah. Friend was on second place, 16 strokes behind after 36 holes haha. Was best competitive round here in Finland all time.

I could be wrong, but isn't putting the last place where ball matters beyond not having defects in it. The only real difference is just the sound it makes? I mean, I can certainly see the mental psychology of playing different balls etc. I'd imagine most players that don't normally break out the ProVs will inherently focus better in an important round, like grinding out their club championship B flight or something. Obviously, no guarantee of better results, but yeah.

Golfer bites another golfer's finger off in slow play dispute

Quote:
Menton stated that the sound of his finger being bitten off was akin “to the sound made when someone chews on a Dorito.”
Yikes...

How do you let your finger get that close to someone else's mouth?

+1 As far as I know neither is putting up their own money.

Like I am going to pay $$ to watch Phil on TV.... And if Tiger is not near the top of a big tourney, then I really don't care to watch him either.

I mean they don't even have an on-course history/rivalry.

This is going to be a flop..

Only way I would watch would be if they played it on one of Trump's courses and demanded that the anthem be played on the first tee so they could both kneel prior to teeing off. The ensuing nationwide apoplexy would be worth whatever PPV charges.

Otherwise this thing is going to be a total snoozefest. I wouldn't watch it on network tv.
