That's a really small margin for the shot though - considering all the possible outcomes, leaving the pin in still seems like the logical choice.

And that's without considering looking like a doofus when his shot didn't hit anywhere near the pin after making Bones walk up and having everyone wait for it like removing the pin was going to make an actual difference.

Getting on Trackman tomorrow for a fitting for the Rogue. Will be interesting to compare numbers between my Epic and the Rogue. Also want to feel the new shaft offerings. Apples to apples with my current shaft will be good though.

Check out the synergy, pretty sure it is no up charge. Post the numbers, I am also curious.

Oh and **** winter

Tested Callaway Rogue today. First the numbers.

Club Speed: 113.6
AoA: +3.4
Club Path: +9.8
Face to Path: -3.8
Ball Speed: 166.3
Launch Angle: 13.4
Spin: 2607
Spin Axis -11.5
Carry: 284.0
Total 303.1
Low Point 4.1B
Smash: 1.46

These were all in the normal range of all of my shots. Lowest carry was about 268, highest about 286. The shaft I am currently using is still the best one for me. SubZero is still the head for me as well.

I also tried the EvenFlow and it just spun way too much. Was gonna try the Aldila Synergy but the didn't have the weight or flex for me.

I really wanted to try the 3w but they didn't have a left-handed one there. Hope to see one at Golffest here in a little over 2 weeks.

Overall the head is a little bit more forgiving when compared to the Epic, and I could definitely tell. My mis-hits were still going in the 300 range with roll. Is it enough to upgrade for most? Probably not. For me, yes. I ordered it with an EvenFlow 65g in stiff so I can add it to my Epic and sell that.

One other note on the numbers above. I had about a 5-10 mph tailwind so they were able to tweak the numbers down to account for that (never knew trackman could do that). I would certainly be more skeptical if I were hitting into the wind and they would juice the numbers.

Also tried a Rogue Pro iron. Had way too light of a shaft and the wrong flex but I tried it anyways. Not for me. Top line is way too thick for my liking.

Solid numbers. What shaft are you using now. Probably could drop your spin a good chunk more, especially playing in Florida where carry is king.

The EvenFlow feels amazing but it just isn't all that playable once you get into the 105 and up swing speed.

Just picked up the new Maltby PTM forged from golf works. Got the 7 iron only to make sure I like it. Pairing it with FST 125 for a total budget build. Sub $50 per club.

Fijikura Pro Green 72 X-flex.

Best combo for me has always been a soft butt and firm tip.

Was sitting around the house yesterday and had a swing thought creep into my head. I have been way too technical lately and needed to make it a lot more simple. Hopped in the car at lunch and hit the range for 45 minutes. What do you know, it worked.

I was hitting a largely straight shot with the driver. The biggest variance was a 5 yard cut or a gentle draw. Switch to the 3-wood and the thing as straight as an arrow. I could even work it left or right if I needed to.

Fast forward to today when I had a lesson planned and I had no idea what to expect. After about a 5 minute warm-up I was able to start repeating my results of yesterday. By the time our assistant pro got out there he watched me hit for about 10 minutes and said "you got it".

Now the REAL REAL test will be can I repeat it on the course, and more importantly, in competition.

Also added in the swing with the 2-iron and was producing the same results as the 3-wood.

Now, wait for Sunday and I will be posting in here how I completely fell apart.

Sounds great Scott. Biggest variance a 5y cut or a slight draw with D does not compute

Got in 10 rounds in a trip to Miami. Toward the end the courses were great, happy that could play and brought the clubs. We booked most rounds through Golfnow, and it worked fine. Mostly the offers were from the same courses though. But some good values for sure.

First round, just booked some with 4 stars, close and affordable, around 40$. Did not realize it could be a par 62. At least we found out quick what an "executive course" means. Seven bridges at Springtree. Was okay considering. Used driver 3 times and varianced all to fairway, made an eagle on a 400y par-5 lol, but since it´s my second I might have to take it haha. Shot 67 with a double on first hole. All downhill from there when got to a real course.

The Senator course at Don Shula. Was under 40$ and good value, nice course. Shot 88.

Normandy Shores. Close to 100$, was a nice course but after great reviews did not feel that special. 20mph winds and most holes with or against the wind. Driver I could not hit the ball at all, short game awful and yea did give up toward the end. One par lolol. 105 strokes, niiice

Key West gc, 75$. Decent course, bunch of mangrovetrees. After 5hour drive and racing to beat the twilight at least made 6 pars, 94 shots still.

Palmetto golf. Twilight fee of 25$. Some not great conditions on fairways but good value still. Beat the 6pm deadline by 2mins. Hit one approach to wrong green by mistake lolol so took a dq, 6 pars and 1 birdie.

Pembroke Lakes. Around 50$ I think, was really good. Lotts of water but it did not come into play thaat much always. 6 pars, 1 birdie and another 94 lol. Did give balls to the waters.

Yacaranda East, another really good course for around 50$. 7pars, 1 birdie but dnf one hole. Started to get some idea how to hit.

Biltmore Golf, again a strong course for 50$. Florida women college team play there I think. Quite a clubhouse too. Shot 90 ugh.

Then off to Trump-Land. Still might put last summers Pärnu Bay as a more wow -experience, but Doral was flawless. Red Tiger a great course, and as the day was sunnier it might have been more memorable and at least took better pics. Paid 165$ and 135$, worth every penny. Without golfnow maybe woulda passed, but really happy we went. Planned to play only the Tiger but had to go back. Silver Fox 88 and Red Tiger front9 was 42, back9 55 lol, though there was some knee-trouble in that.

If you go golfing in that area would rec any course of the last 5 and Don Shula too for value. Normandy good but not huge value. Sadly missed the Crandon Golf, but did not fit great into travel plan and normal fee was 170.

some pics

$170 for Crandon, ouch! They sure gouge you tourists good.

I got my first 9 in with swing change. Worked immediately with the 3-wood. Took a couple holes with the driver to kick in.

9 plays 470ish and was into a light breeze. Soaked fairways and I was inside of 200 so I was more than happy.

FSGA event tomorrow for me, aka a REAL test.

Bill Haas was involved in a serious car accident. Person was killed whose house he was staying at during the LA Open. He left the hospital but withdrew from the tournament.

Ordered a demo shaft from Shaft Shack. They don't use the actual adapters from the manufacturer, they have a generic one attached to the shaft and then another adapter to go with the clubhead. It's kinda confusing but they did put instructions in the mailing.

One slight problem for me being left-handed though, no clear instructions for that. I just put what I needed on the opposite side and hope it was right.

So shaft I tried was a Tour AD BB 8x in my 3-woood. Based on the bend profile this one should have been perfect for me. Nope. Felt horrible. Guess I will stick to current gamer when I upgrade to the Rogue shaft.

One question I am left with is their generic adapter. It for sure limits what you can do with settings. Not sure if that causes anything else to change in the tip of the shaft. Maybe making it a bit more stiff because of the added hardware.

Anyways probably not worth renting from them again. I would just go get fitted or buy used online and flip it if I didn't like it.

I just put a BB 5S in my Rogue, between that and the extremely low spin head it tumbles nicely.

Keep in mind several things...

You may or may not have been sent a watered down version of that shaft.

The shaft almost certainly hasn't been SST Pured, rendering your testing mostly useless.

Tips and adapters are big now, unfortunately most out there are crap. There are a small handful of top notch manufactures though around the world.

The BB shaft works best in a higher lofted head.

Yeah I was trying it in a 3w just because since I changed my swing I am just launching into the stratosphere. I had hoped with that shaft and a 13.5* 3w head that would get me near as much distance as my driver.

I have only seen one player with a AD BB shaft in the driver and that was MJ Hur. She hit some absolute low bullets with that thing.

First time I have even heard of shaft shack. I blame winter. Do the shafts come in shorter playing length? I just can't hit 45.5" drivers.

Not that I am aware of. I never really looked but I'm guessing they are all standard length.

Okay, I'm getting antsy, c'mon weather let's do this.

Emptied out the bag, cleaned the clubs, put it all back together and it's ready to go. Going to order a new pair of True Linkswear shoes. All the extraneous gear - towels, cold weather layers, rain gear, etc is in a pile to be washed and folded.

There are some courses that are opening this week if it isn't too soggy and it would be great to get in some warmup before some upcoming trips.

Getting really close to the start of the season here too - haven't played golf since November, so the withdrawal is getting pretty bad.

Bought an orange whip a few months back (after several people ITT praised it) so wondering how/if that'll work out once I get to swing an actual club. One thing I noticed swinging the orange whip is how naturally it stopped me from extending my backswing (and bending my left arm) too far, so it'll be intersting to see if that carries over to my actual swing.

I went to Dick's today and they had a couple Orange Whips stuck in a golf bag so I grabbed one for a waggle or two - first time I've seen one. Seems like one of those things where I'd need to mess around with one before dropping the cash (never the early adopter) but I'm intrigued.

Super pleased that Dicks had my preferred hat in stock and I could load up for the season. Also went to local place and had them regrip a wedge.

Well, yes. Here too. But that counts as "really close" in my book

Courses here stay open all year as long as there's no snow, but only the hardcore play the winter tees and winter greens during the coldest months.

Golf is a warm(ish) weather activity imo.
