Very curious to see how the M3/M4 with twist face stacks up to the epic.

Any recommendations for good courses, best bang for your buck? Easy to get around there? It doesn't seem very hard to get to a bunch of course quickly.

Best location to stay? Looking at a place in Desert Highland Gateway area.

Any and all suggestions welcome.
Make sure you find out the dates the course you pick(s) overseeds

Not sure if any of you guys also read the hackers paradise but someone is currently planning a massive outing at Grand Cypress in Orlando for August 3rd to 5th. Going to cost $478 which includes 1 round Friday afternoon, 2 rounds Saturday and 1 am round Sunday plus 2 nights stay in the villas.

Close to 50 guys confirmed and 30 more interested, I am not 100% yet but I will make it work.

The New Course is a ton of fun. Widest fairways you will ever find. Greens were really tough.

Yeah looking forward to it, I guess we also get a $30 replay rate for Sunday so going to try and find cheap red eye home

Going to be tough getting in a second round done in a day that time of year. You will be battling afternoon thunderstorms. As long as you don't mind a little rain delay at some point it can be done.

Wide fairways I like though as a person who has found out game golf stops at 99 yards left and right of fairway

I'm also concerned about the rental club situation as if I get regular flex shafts I'm going to have a miserable day, should be able to call and figure that out though.

Thoughts?
I was a 10-12 when I played Kapalua and didn't find it miserable at all, course looks very long and intimidating on paper bit eith the wind and elevation changes it doesn't play as long as you'd think. I really enjoyed my round there but I can't compare it to the other course. For pure scenery I would put it 3rd out of 5 courses I played in Hawaii, the top 2 were both on Oahu (Ko'olau and Royal Hawaiian)

Thanks for the review, I'm about a 12-13 myself right now, haven't hit a ball in 6 weeks though so should be interesting. Booked it for the 19th.

Anyone have any experience with having a simulator inside your house? What are the perfect accommodations, or is it easier to just build a shed and put it out there? I'm currently looking at the TruGolf models.

avoid trugolf. for simulator use, the decision is between skytrak on the low-end and GC2, which is the standard. I started with a Skytrak and fairly quickly upgraded to a GC2. Don't fall for the ES16, it is garbage and the radar units (TM and Flightscope) work best at the range, not in a simulator.

Here is my cage

software: Perfect Golf all the way. Stay away from TheGolfClub. It is garbage and the tour is garbage. For instance, you cannot even save a guest player profile and the multiplayer options are a joke.

JNPG has everything you would expect from a simulator and the online community is top notch (http://simulation.onlinegolftour.net/index.html).

I was wondering who was going to play in the swampy muds of Ohio. Not me, that's for sure. You couldn't pay me to go out there in that mess right now lol.

Only played 9, lost 4 tee balls that plugged. Was just using the random balls I pick up during the year pocket. Was mid 50's though and after last week where every day was well into the negatives it was good to get out. Back to 17 and snowing this weekend.

i have a "what would you do?".. not sure if it's an ethical question or not. think maybe it's just personal choice

say you're son is 16 and playing your state amateur.

tied for the lead on a late hole on the final day.

you have been going out 250 yards and forecaddying for your son and perhaps keeping an "eye" his compeitors' ball too

his competitor hits a bad drive on 17th.... can't find the ball. no one knows where it is except you....

would you tell the competitor where the ball is?.. this could be the difference between your son on USC/UCLA golf team vs. San Jose State or Nevada.

does it matter if...... ? you are inside/outside ropes (assuming roped), you have been helping earlier finding any of the competitors' balls? etc. etc.

i think i would help but not sure i should.. and of course my behaviour should be consistent the whole way. if i helped on an earlier hole for a competitor i should help later on

fyi, i got grief at a good friend's club championship tennis match for cheering for a very nice shot by his opponent... really surprised me... grief from other friends/relatives, not the player himself.

if it were me and i've been spotting balls for a competitor the entire way, i'd likely speak up about that particular ball. if the son going to USC/UCLA was such a huge deal then i wouldn't have said anything at all about a competitor's ball at any time during the round. if the spectators outside the ropes have helped spot balls for everyone (including the son) throughout the course of the round i would also be inclined to pipe up about the location.

Of course I would say something. That is what separates golf from other sports imo.

If I weren't willing to do that, I would have stayed home and let son tell me how the match went when he got home.

answering my own question, but i would tell all 3 players that i will spot/"forecaddy" their shots the whole round and then there's no ethical dilemna.

i don't think it's incredibly clear-cut as to parent behaviour.....

i've heard the "parental foot wedge" is not uncommon at junior tourneys. not sure if finding the ball mysteriously is an issue but then that's on the player him/herself and outright cheating.

i wouldn't do it but i think it's ok if you only forecaddy your own kid but that should be made obvious and i think if you look for competitor's ball on hole #1 then you should help him on hole #18 too.

it's like in tennis when players tell the ump to give the point to their opponent (days before hawkeye).. i think the general consensus is that if you wouldn't do it down match point then it's a much less powerful action.

I would let them know for sure where it's at. I'm kind of a fan of not having parents out on the course. If they are they should be with the group and not in an advanced position to do anything nefarious.

I played an Am Tour event in December and one of the competitors had his "coach" (read: lol) walking along and waiting in the landing area for several holes. There is no way to tell if he would just kick a ball out for a clean shot or not. I know I didn't like it.
