Even if you make it 'rounds', virtual golf isn't real you know!

Adding 1 top 100 course to my played list this coming year. Taking the sticks and going to play Spyglass Hill in June.

assuming you're going to walk on at Cypress Point after the round?

have you played Pasatiempo in Santa Cruz yet? you'll be so close you might as well go.

Had the pleasure of playing CP wow what a course was at a Scotia Bank sponsored event maybe 8yrs ago with Clint playing host after for the drinks and appys was super nice day/night. If you ever have a chance to play...DO IT!

I wish! Maybe I need to hang around the bars near the course and chat up a member.

Haven't played Pasatiempo as of yet. This will be a family vacation and I will only get a chance to play once when I'm there.

Spieth had a hole-in-one on his simulator the other day.

I had 107 rounds I turned in scores probably 120 total.

Currently -15* with windchill and the cold front hasn't hit yet.

Not looking like a mild winter where I can get a round or 3 in each month.

**** off warm states, at least I rarely pay more than like $25 a round and those are actually pretty decent courses.

**** winter

Sims are actually decent practice if accurate. Not so much inside 30 yards and putting but good way to get a nice sample size on your distances. They are pretty pricey though for a "round". My friends work actually has 2 full sized high end ones about 45 minutes away so we get them 2 or 3 times a winter for 4+ hours, free is well worth the drive.

I have an opportunity to play one of the Kapalua courses in a few weeks. Anybody played both? I obv wanted to play plantation initially but after doing some research turns out it's pretty miserable unless you're an excellent golfer and the views at the Bay course combined with $100 cheaper and I'm torn.

I'm also concerned about the rental club situation as if I get regular flex shafts I'm going to have a miserable day, should be able to call and figure that out though.

Thoughts?

Plantation is awesome.

Yea, the greens are really hard in the wind, but the fairways are super generous, don't think it's that miserable, and if you're a 15+ it's not like the other course is gonna be easy, just tee it forward if need be.

They have high end stiff rentals there as well.

Thanks for the info, makes the decision easier. I'll try to post some pics after.

Yeah I would say play it. I didn't think it was a terribly difficult course tbh. Wind is everything though there. Plus how often do you ever get great views AND a great course?

+1 to playing the Plantation course. Fortunately it wasn't overly windy the day I played it. Fairways are pretty wide for the most part anyway. There are some tee shots where it pays to have some advanced knowledge. For example on #1 I hit it too far and went through the fairway and ended up with a downhill lie in the rough to an uphill green. Did manage to get it on the fringe in 2 on 18. Haven't played the Bay course so I can't compare.

gc2 + perfect golf is extremely accurate on short game and putting. there are a couple of physics issues with bunkers & uphill lies that are checking up more then they should, but overall, it is excellent.

10 stimp on jnpg very similar to my synlawn green midday

One of my best buddies brother played with DJ today during the Pro Am in Hawaii...needless to say I'm 1000000000% jealous. He said it was like watching a person who wasn't from earth play golf the distances and ball flights he hits. Must be nice!!!

Caddied in nelson pro-am a few times, had koepka last year. It really is unbelievable how they crush the ball.

Yeah I have watched koepka smoke some drivers up close at waste management open here in Scottsdale and I told my buddies we might as well retire from playing golf. Just a different stratosphere that some of these guys play in.

Planning on doing a fall trip to Palm Springs area -- never been. Should be six of us going with some golfing involved.

Starting to scope out spots as it will likely be near US Thanksgiving, early Novemberish.

Any recommendations for good courses, best bang for your buck? Easy to get around there? It doesn't seem very hard to get to a bunch of course quickly.

Best location to stay? Looking at a place in Desert Highland Gateway area.

Any and all suggestions welcome.

A lot of the hotels have room and unlimited golf packages. Only course I have played is Mission Hills CC which is private. I will be playing Westin Mission Hills in March which has 2 courses so I can report back on those.
