Hmm, maybe I go with the top 100 since 9 of them are Ross courses. Overlap FTW!

I found a third I played, Woodhill CC in Wayzata, MN. Played with an employee in a match play event I set up a couple decades ago. I was around a 9 at that time and I remember not breaking 90.

The greens were fast AF. I took a ball and dropped it at the top of a green and it rolled off the front. That's just unfair.

There is a lot of variance in Donald Ross courses. Some may have originally been great designs, but have fallen into disrepair. The well maintained ones are awesome. I think playing all 300+ would have way too many dog tracks in it. Would much prefer to play the top 100.

My favorite course around here is like that. Not a Ross but Stanley Thompson so similar style. It isn't even table top greens so much as massive tilt to them. If you are above the hole then you are dead. If you have good distance control on approaches you can manage. It isn't very comfortable standing over a side hill 7 footer that breaks 4 feet + though

I am weird and enjoy the comedy of first time players watching them 4-5 putt or worse on several holes.

The USGA did make them rebuild 2 greens as it used to be a pub links qualifier course. They determined there was not a single usable hole location on those 2 greens

Pretty sure a bunch of courses Ross has his name attached he didn't even tour the site or only was there once. He just gave the designs and people built them.

That’s a maintenance issue more than a design issue. Pretty confident greens weren’t 12+ on the stimp in 1930.

I’ve played a couple relative dog tracks (Asheboro muni and the one in Sanford NC). Liked them more than a lot of nicely maintained modern courses.

But yeah I’m sure I’m in a small minority on this.

That was the care for Belleair around here. He designed it way before air travel and only visited the site once. I need to try and find the original photo for one of the greens. To get to it you had to climb a ladder to get to it. It was a par 3.

Edit: couldn't find it but found where they talked about it. http://www.belleaircc.com/about/history

Here is a video from my lesson today. Going back to work on getting rid of the big cut.

Two swing thoughts I am working on to begin with:

1. Closing the shoulders so I am pointing down the target line. My tendency is to start way open. I am closing them down so much that if can feel the shoulder tighten a bit.

2. Getting rid of the casting of my hands. My swing thought is to fire the hands out at about a 45* angle to the left of the target line. Having this thought in my head helps to get rid of the casting. As you can see at the top of the swing I have a little ways to go there.

I can already see the difference in the results. It's going to take a long time and a lot of practice for it to become natural.

That's like a Moe Norman setup, arms and shaft inline.

Sleepy Hollow in Brecksville Ohio. Was a Country Club till the 1950's and now one of the best public's in Ohio. Most of the Thompson courses are in Canada. Very similar land judging by pictures.

Played a bunch of Thompson courses around here, difficult for me to say the least. Definitely have to be below the pin.

Very cool courses though and looking forward to playing more of them.

Need to get those hips clearing more at impact. Good luck with the casting, I fight that as well.

I had to search YouTube for that one. Interesting during the lesson we were talking single plane vs a two plane swing. We ended up figuring out that I needed to have a two plane swing.

i'll set the line now, -350 Spieth pulls a Tiger Woods within the next 10 years and gets a 5 iron through the rear windshield

Agreed. Spieth seems like he really wants to be a good person, and be seen as a good person. At the end of the day, he's probably got his flaws/demons. When he's 40 years old, and hot 24 year olds are trying to polish off his piece, he'll get tired of saying no.

Anyone who goes out of their way to project a goody two shoes image is always hiding something. Examples: Penn State, Charlie Rose, Jim and Tammy Baker

I bet he's railing hot 19 year olds by the sleeve right now.

Re-upped my PGA Live subscription and they sent me a code for a $40 tee off.com "deal" time - expires 12/31/17 lol

Currently no courses around here open - so if anyone in an area that has a course on tee off.com and wants to use the code tomorrow PM me and I'll send you the code

I looked at my GHIN yesterday and I saw that I posted 118 rounds in 2017. Geebus, I play a lot of golf. If I include random club tournaments and par 3 courses I guess I would be around 125. Time to start thinking about goals for 2018...
