I've played Royal County Down and Portrush plus some smaller courses around Belfast. You HAVE to play RCD, it's a total bucket list course. Portrush was incredible too, but there are many other good courses in the country; it can be missed. There is a significant amount of amazing courses in the north of Ireland, i'd look into it. It only takes about 2 hours to drive/bus from Dublin to Belfast and you could use it as a home base to access to northern courses. I'm a little biased as my family is from the north.

If you settle on the North and need non-golf recommendations for things to do in Belfast, let me know.

RCD is GOAT. By far my #1 AINEC. For a fun afternoon Royal Belfast is a pretty good and easy walk. In Dublin, Portmarnock is #1, The Island Club is good track.

In SW Ireland you really can't go wrong. Lahinch was my fave but Waterville is very good

I would decide if you want to do Dublin/Belfast or SW Ireland and plan accordingly.

Can't overstate how good RCD is

Yeah, that'll be the hard part. I'm pretty sure that if this comes off we'll do 2 regions, spending 3-4 nights at each. Looking at the green fees I can tell already that I'm going to have to do some homework and find twilight rates, lesser known courses, etc for a few of the days -- seems like 180-250 pounds/euros are the going rack rate for the top shelf links.

Yeah I like Dublin and Belfast a lot for non golf stuff if that factors in. I would probably do that part of the country. You simply have to play RCD if you are going over there.

You could conceivably do both areas in 8 days but if you do the Ring of Kerry getting to RCD is going to be pretty LOL.

No chance. The lack of length is too much to overcome.

Plus women can't chip or putt....

(I kid, I kid, sorta)

Not to be sincerely misogynistic, but has anyone ever been impressed by a short game shot when watching the ladies?

Getting ready for a good run of golf:

Normal round Friday (maybe 36)
Shamble Saturday (low 2 of 4 net)
Pinehurst #7 Monday
Lochmere (Cary, NC) Thursday
7/20 Mission Hills Tournament Course
7/21 Coto de Caza North
8/3-4 Bears Best LV and Canyon Gate

Work is hard.

Sounds like fun. I've played one of the Coto courses before can't remember which but it was really cool.

there is a guy local to Portland that has been doing this for the past 5 years or so to raise money for the Children's Cancer Association. He was one of the initial investors in Pumpkin Ridge, and this year for his 70th birthday he's going to try to play 70 holes in the morning and 70 more in the afternoon.

Witnessed my first ace today... buddy got it, 166 yards. Took a friendly bounce just over a bunker towards the pin so we knew it was potentially very good, but we did not see it roll in the hole unfortunately.

I don't think it is misogynistic to state this. Women's short games seem, on average, much weaker than men's at the top pro level.

But, women pros at the 17-20 year-old range can compete against established LPGA players in numbers that will never ever be seen on the PGA tour.

And, these two things may not be unrelated.....

Has there ever been such a close collection of great golfers in one era? Would you be surprised if any one of the these guys wins the next major?

Day
Rory
Speef
DJ
Scott
Stenson
Reed
Phil
Bubba
Fowler

You could add ten more, too...

Willett
Grace
Garcia
Rose

And so on...

Such great talent right now...so much fun to watch

I'd be surprised if Reed won, yeah. I'd also be surprised if Bubba won since the next major isn't the Masters. Also, I would be surprised if Rickie won because I don't think he has enough time for golf between snapchats. And yea, I'd be surprised if Stenson, Willett, or Rose won the PGA as well.

Anyone else watching Trump on Feherty? Scary as ****. He looks like an orange, melting Oompa Loompa.

Trump, not Feherty.
