go to a practice green, toss down a half dozen balls surrounding the hole within three feet, and get a 1-2-3 beat in your head and putt the balls at a brisk pace.
beat 1: put your putter behind the ball
beat 2: draw the putter back
beat 3: make the stroke
don't try to align the line on your ball with the hole, don't get too concerned with the break of the green that close, don't even feel like you need to have your weight balanced (i like to put all my weight on my right foot. just instinctively hit the putt with enough pace towards the hole to go in. you don't have to think about that putt, just stroke it in with purpose.
you can make the same distance putt if you happen to run it past, no need to worry about delicately dropping it into the cup.
