Super annoyed by this guy I paid for an online lesson with.

Mar 7 - Sent $ for lesson
Mar 9 - Sent videos for lesson
Him, Mar 12 (Saturday) - Thanks for the videos I have downloaded them and will get a lesson back with you by Monday at the very latest.

Me, Mar 16 - Hello, I haven't received the lesson videos yet. Did you mean next Monday?

Him, Mar 17 - Sorry for the delay I have had a few issues this week., The video will be back with you tomorrow, sorry for the delay and thanks for your patience.

Me, Mar 23 - When can I expect the video? It's been two weeks since I originally sent and you said last Monday, then last Friday but I haven't heard anything since.

Him, Mar 23 - I can only apologise on the delay in getting this lesson back to you, I wasn't well from Friday and then over the weekend but I am back in work now and will get the lesson done for you today.

Still no lesson! Really enjoy the guy's YouTube videos and style of instruction and he's very popular on wrx but jeez, this is getting silly. At this point, no matter how helpful he is I probably won't continue working with him.

dan whit*aker. like i said, i really like his youtube channel and style of instruction so this is unfortunate! i sent off 2 vids to him and dan carr*her at the same time figuring I'd decide which one I prefer working with. dan c's turnaround was less than 48 hours.

i can post link to my 10 minute vid lesson with dan c if anyone's interested. it was well worth the $40 imo.

What was your reaction to his response video? Is it something you would do again/refer a friend to do? Helpful?

It's been in the 50's the last week so I got the clubs out and bag in order so I could hit the first range session of the year and then we got a foot of snow last night.

Extremely helpful. He pointed out two major flaws and suggestions/drills for how to correct them as a starting point. One I knew about (very laid off), the other I did not. (very weak grip) Simply correcting the grip has helped me take the club back steeper and hit the ball farther. Almost all my misses used to be short right, now it's long left.

tl;dw is the first 2:30. LOL @ 6:07 still shot

My problem with my live instructor is he doesn't use video, nor does anyone else around here. I always felt like I'd hear a million things during the lesson then forget them or not be able to visualize what he's saying. This way I can record myself and compare to older swings to make sure there's improvement. Even showed my live instructor the lesson so he has a better understanding of my swing rather than simply seeing it at live speed on a range.

In total he sent me a 10 minute vid with commentary on my DTL and FO swings, a 2 minute stock vid of his on setup, and a 3 minute custom vid of himself demonstrating the changes he wants me to make.

Also used dan C through athlete nation and it was an extremely positive experience.

First range session since late October today, was a beautiful day in Toronto. Had a pretty strange experience today; I recently made a return to judo and my lower back has been tight since. I decided to warm up with some wedges today and every impact felt like an electric shock was going up my left side. After 3 of these I decided to hit some drivers and I was entirely pain free. So I hit an entire bucket of drivers with no pain, but I couldn't even bend over to tee a ball up, I had to squat down. Hopefully this is just a temporary setback. On a positive note, I was dominating the high draw with the driver and hit a tonne of great shots.

Yeah getting old sucks doesn't it

I have been having some pain in my hands lately (along with a strained groin and also recently strained something in my abdomen). I thought it was just from sleeping on my hands. Pretty sure it's the first stage of arthritis. So I have that to look forward to now...

So me and some friends are gonna play 3 x 18 holes on a weekend in mid april. Our handicaps ranges from 0 to 10 I think. We are 6-7 people. Do you guys have any suggestions for some fun betting?

We could do the regular 5 dollar first nine, 5 dollar second, 10 total and birdies etc but would be fun with something new.

You can throw a bunch of trash aspects into your bets

I stumbled onto this. Seems different:

Daytona

If you like risky games, you'll love this. Each team of two add their scores together, so if they both had fours the score is 44. If the scores were different then the scoring depends on how you fared to par. If one of you got a par or better you would take the lower score first. For example a 4 and 6 on a par 5 scores 46. If you are both above par, say on a par three, then you take the higher score first giving 64. The lower total takes the money, but be prepared for some big swings.

People should be able to play from what ever tees they want so long as they keep up with the group in front of them.

A single in a cart has to play from the whites because nitbo says so.

This seems awesome imo. Thanks

Anyone ever heard of a fixed two/three-ball market or at least a decent odds crash on a two-ball/three-ball?

Thanks

I assume he was talking about betting on the PGA where you pair up random 2 players v another random 2 players and bet one side for odds. I could be way off though

When you are chipping and trying to hole the chip/putt is it more advantageous to leave the pin in or take it out?

Out assuming you have good speed control and it will be rolling like a putt as it gets to the hole. If you have a good chance of hitting it thin or sculling it then the pin can make a good backstop.

I think there was a study done a few years ago and flag in was quantifiably better (though I don't really remember the specifics)

Pelz says definitely leave it in.

I feel like flagsticks are harder now than when I grew up. Am I just imagining this?

That explains why his most famous student always leaves the flagstick in, even from 90 yards away.

Pelz also proved that the optimal putt speed was 22 inches past the hole.

Maybe Mickelson just disagrees, but pelz def says leave it in.

I don't really care, I generally leave it in unless its leaning towards me.

And it's 17in. Which I completely disagree with.
