That's some forward press on that driver. Whats your trajectory typically?

A lot of that is the camera angle not nearly as much as it looks. Normally I play a weak wipey fade when I need to hit the fairway which goes about 240 total or a medium height draw that goes 255 or so. I can easily hit it higher if I need to but have trouble hitting it low. Typical swing speed is 100-105 with typical ball speed high 140's to low 150's. Can swing a little harder than that but I have no clue which way it is going to go when I do that.

Curious who here hovers their driver as opposed to having it on the ground at set up.

Eddy, have you trird both, what works for you? One advantage I see to resting it on the ground is lighter grip pressure.

Because I have the yips, I am experimenting with not stopping my club stopped at address.., swinging about a foot past the ball, then back over the ball, backswing, then hit the ball..

I like this question and would love to hear responses to it. Yes, it's a little thing, but what in golf isn't? Plus, I've been doing both recently.

My driver does touch the ground at address, but I wouldn't call it severe. Certainly not grounding it to the point of being over-relaxed, but I can't dig how you can hover it -- seems way too tense.

Similar question: who hovers their putter?

I think I do? I'll have to let you know tomorrow. I don't even know...that sounds awful.

Didn't Jack Nicklaus hover all of his clubs?

I ground both the driver and putter. I have friends who hover both, always seems bizarre and unnatural to me.

Never tried hovering..except when I hit driver off beer cans, which I hit surprisingly well. Maybe I should give it a try!

Gotta love autocorrect... I went with the Anser because they had a brand new one for $90 at the local shop's tent sale. Wow I guess I was really in need of an upgrade. I love this thing.

What is with Bubba's shoulders. I can't handle watching his cocky ass walk the way it is and now he has that shoulder twitch thing. Am I the only one that this bothers?

Just got done with a golf trip of four days and six VERY hot rounds of golf. I thought I'd share a review of the venues we played:

Farmlinks - Sylacauga, AL:

Beautiful course with generous fairways. My only complaint was the speed of the greens which were a bit slow. The course is visually very pleasing though it is a pretty easy track. The Par 3s really standout here with 17 being a downhill mid-iron to a green overlooked by an enormous house.

Capitol Hill Golf Club Judge Course - Prattville, AL:

No cooler shot than the first tee ball. We played the 2nd set of tees at around 7,400 yards and this course is very challenging. Top-to-bottom this was my favorite course from a combination of aesthetics, shot-quality, and difficulty. The greens were in pretty good condition. My favorite hole was the Par 5 4th which demands some very precise targets when hitting both tee and layup shots.

Side note: try the bulgolgi steak sandwich in the clubhouse. It is phenomenol.

Capitol Hill Golf Club Legislator Course - Prattville, AL:

Didn't care too much for the front 9 aside from the 4th hole which is one of the most challenging holes I played on the trip. Blind tee shot playing 480 with a pitched fairway. Green is tucked closely to a hazard on the left and protected by bunkers. The back 9 has more character. Hole 12 is sneaky narrow and derailed the rounds in our group.

Ross Bridge Golf Club - Birmingham, AL:

Amazingly this course lived up to its hype. What a beautiful track. It was a little disappointing that the greens were a bit slow and a few quite burnt out, but the views on this course are unrivaled. The biggest dispppointment here is in the staff. We played a foursome from the 2nd back tees (teed off around 8a) and there was a twosome ahead of us playing the wrong tees for their game. We spent 10 minutes waiting for them to clear #2 fairway and 3-5 minutes between every other shot. Eventually they were behind by 2+ holes but the rangers said that they were "on pace" when I inquired, so the situation never improved. Meanwhile, we waited on them for every shot and the group behind us waited on us.

Oxmoor Valley Ridge Course - Birmingham, AL:

The biggest disappointment of the trip for me. I had played here once before and it left great memories. The greens were in pretty terrible shape both beat up from unfixed pitch marks and slow in pace. The shot-quality here is very good, but unfortunately the greens soured my ability to enjoy playing here. We also chose to eat lunch here and the concessions ran out of hot dogs and, of the ones that were available, they tasted undercooked and very unappetizing.

Hermitage Golf Club Presidents Reserve Course - Nashville, TN:

A fun track though quite easy. Very generous fairways and conditions were pretty good. I honestly expected a bit more from this course given its ranking as #2 in the state of Tennessee; it lacked any sort of "wow" factor.

Overall, if I take into consideration all things (price, course conditions, difficulty, shot-quality, staff, etc) I'd rank them in the following order:

1. Judge Course
2. Farm Links
3. Ross Bridge
4. Legislator
5. Hermitage
6. Ridge Course

Nice report, UC.

Can't imagine I'll ever set foot in Alabama on purpose, though.

It's brutal, I've played with amateurs that copy that.
