I didn't really want to know, but I couldn't resist. As expected, no dice.

I'm now 0 fer since 2001 when I first applied. No doubt will happen when I'm 70 and can't walk the course.

Earlier this week I checked in at the pro shop and the lady behind the desk said "I just have to let you know, we had a..um..incident...on the 12th hole earlier. There's a lot of blood out there.... someone broke their putter and hit an artery.."

Apparently they got the guy off the course and to the hospital. There was a bloody golf cart near the tee box with cones and a sign saying to stay away. There was blood on the seat and the steering wheel and scorecard was cover, so I'm guessing the guy hit his wrist. They didn't know exactly how it went down.

Warning, there's blood:

I need a diagram to explain how someone can involve a putter and hitting their artery without being batshi.t insane or a serial killer. One time. Let's see it.

eta: also, I see a regular coke bottle in the cart; when do olds not drink diet coke? (I'm right to assume she was an old, right?)

They said it was a he, I have no idea how old he was. I also have no idea how to hit an artery with a broken putter. Maybe the unluckiest person in the world?

Slam the putter on something and the shaft snaps and sticks in your arm? That's what I pictured anyway. I am envisioning an angry younger guy. Possibly roid rage related

Walking away from the green he attempted to bend his putter in half after a debacle of a four putt from 3 feet away, his adrenaline granted his wish but the force was too great and one end stuck into the wrist. Did I picture that right ?

Link in Norwegian, but basically a golf club in Norway can celebrate a somewhat strange 10 year anniversary this year:

http://www.rogalandsavis.no/index.ph...NyhetID=100211

Google translation

2005 they first found that some guy had taken a dump in two of the holes, and since then they'd have to have dedicated staff who has to go around and check the golf course for human feces and tp every day as the 'serial ****ter' has continued to do so several times a week.

Sometimes it's in holes (favourite one is green 3) and sometimes it's around other parts of the course.

They've tried to scare him (I guess it could also be a her) away by putting up lights that triggers with motion detectors, but they've been dismantled and removed by the guy.

Staff also says that while the consistency was quite firm the first couple of years, in later years it's gotten more runny so they're speculating that he's using laxatives or should start paying more attention to his diet.

Always happens during the night - guess he doesn't want to pay the green fee.

Heh my bad, I got rejected just as you all did.

I received an email May 11 from "Masters" and just assumed it was a rejection letter. It was the notice that practice tickets went on sale.

A friend of mine got his club stuck in the bag and as he was pulling it out stuck his head over it. Obviously the club got out and hit his chin so he had to go to the hospital to get 5-6 stitches. Hilarious.

Planning a Bandon trip with the old man for late August/early September. Getting tired of telling people I'm from Oregon and them asking if I've played Bandon (haven't).

if you have to choose, skip Trails. Pacific and Bandon are mandatory (in that order, IMO), Old Mac is great if you can make it work. Play the 13 hole par 3 Preserve as a reroute so that you can get the discount, and also look out for the free 9 hole Shorty's course at the range for free golf.

you're gunna love it.

Good to know. The plan is to play it all, as we're going for a long weekend. I have heard late August/September are best bets for good weather, which is what we were looking at anyway. My practice this summer is pretty much so I don't play like **** at Bandon and get frustrated.

do you plan to stay on property? during peak season (june-sept) there is a ~$50 discount in greens fees for staying at the resort. the inn and chrome lake are probably the cheapest options to share a room with two beds, but they'll run around $360-400 peak season. if you want to stay off property, i've stayed at the bandon inn a few times and its just fine (clean, withing walking distance to old town bandon and restaurants, etc). two queen beds will run around $150 per night that time of year.
if the cost doesn't matter, i'd suggest staying on property and using their awesome shuttle service to take you around the property.

Going out to Kohler in two weeks to play 4 rounds in 3 days with my brother. I played the river course at blackwolf run and the original whistling straights course like 16 years ago when I was 15 or so. Will be fun to go back out.

But you hit on why this is a dual issue. The weather is going to call for pants. The work angle at least leans pants. But it's nearly impossible to wear pants and not either be uncomfortable with the wrong shoes or look completely stupid.

If I was going on personal time, I'd go shorts/polo/pullover/tennis shoes, and maybe think about taking rain pants for when it's on the cool side. May be best strategy here.
Wear the causal shoes with the white soles, or the addidas golf shoes that look like that. Very trendy and comfortable and works with slacks.

Kind of an older model but I have them and they are decent and the price is insane low so if you were thinking of getting some hybrids you should jump on this. 12 hours left I think

Thoughts on getting irons fitted? Thinking of getting it done just to have them fit for my swing. Anyone do this?

Friends Dad got fitted for them and is making MUCH better contact with his new set and gained about one club in length.

+1 for getting fitted. Although I am a standard lie, stiff flex black dot Ping guy. I'm the definition of plain apparently.

Is there any sense in shelling out money for fitted clubs before you can shoot low 80s at worst? Even with garbage clubs there is no reason to average worse than bogey a hole.
