We could try but as the 4 of us all want to play together I understand that chances of getting a 4 ball tee off are slim to none.

Is Boulder Creek the one right next to the turnpike? I'm west of Toledo and when we go to Pittsburgh to visit family, I always drool as we go by.

Just played Oak Tree today. 36 at Yankee something tomorrow, 36 at Avalon (?), and 18 at Pine Lakes on Wednesday. Staying in this huge mansion like place 3 nights with meals included for like $500 a person (11 of us)

False. Put your foursome on the ballot each day and chances are good you'll get on at least once.

Regardless of odds, you've got a lot better chance to play if you actually try vs. no chance at all. As one who has played there, it's well worth it.

Regripping my irons and wedges with Golf Pride Tour Wrap, 2G standard size. Really like the tackiness over the multicompound grips.

I used these for couple years now. Love them. Bought new irons and cut the brand new grips off to put these on.

My buddy who is playing the event didn't play that well, but his caddy made four birdies, and hit the ball great all day. Which led me to remark about 30 times that the wrong guy will be carrying the bag tomorrow.

We actually had two pros playing with our group, one guy from Argentina and the other from Colombia. Both were super cool. The Argentina kid actually finished in the top five two years ago to qualify for the web.com tour, but lost his card there, then lost his card for the Latin America Tour last year. So he has no status this year, but did pretty well in the last tournament to get into this event.

In a nutshell, he went from being a step away from playing on the PGA tour to trying to make a living playing $5 Nassaus on his home course. And he needs a good finish this week to qualify for the next tournament, or he won't have anywhere to play.

The Colombian kid has full status, but has only played in one event this year. He wanted to play in Argentina, but couldn't afford the plane ticket.

What was eye-opening is that I have previously played in pro-ams for the web.com tour, and I can honestly say there isn't any difference between the guys I played with in those events and the guys I played with today. But there was a noticeable difference between my buddy and the two pros, though.

For me, it showed me how thin the margin is between top professionals and guys who can't afford plane tickets, and the wide gap between good amateurs and professionals. My buddy is a legit golfer. He hits the ball a ton and doesn't do anything wrong. But the gap between him and the two guys we played with was pretty obvious.
Love stories like this. Keep em coming!

Never been to a PGA Tour event, thinking about getting tickets for The Barclays. If I buy tickets to the Playoff Club, I'll also be able to walk around the grounds freely if I so choose, right? I assume so, but just double checking.

Quote:
PLAYOFF CLUB TICKETS

The Playoff Club is a shared hospitality structure that provides spectacular views of all the action on the 3rd and 12th greens as well as the 4th tee. This double decker structure includes full food and open bar, private restroom facilities, and is an air-conditioned venue. Tickets are $450 plus tax with MasterCard® pricing and $500 plus tax without.

I dont know about The Barclays specifically, but every tournament that I have been to allows unlimited grounds access to all ticket types. The better tickets just give you the additional stuff like grandstand/clubhouse access, food and drink, or whatever else. There is a good chance they sell more tickets to that area than they have in actual grandstand seats though so its possible that it will be full at times on Saturday and Sunday (unlikely on Thur/Fri).

I've been to a few events (Ryder Cup, Memorial) and it is the same as CDL described above. Baseline ticket gets you unlimited privileges to walk the grounds. Higher-tier tickets get you additional access such as certain tents, restaurants, bars, etc - akin to a casino rewards card.

Anyone try the 3BAYS Golf Swing Analyzer? Is it it helpful? Looks interesting.

Does anyone actually play with someone who putts with the long stick (ala Adam Scott), and is also a double digit hcp?

Yes, I play with someone who is ~12 or so and he's been using one for several years. His putting stroke looks somewhat like Barkley's full swing (a little shimmy forward press, then a big hitch 1-2 inches in to the backswing).
He still has that 'stroke' even using the long putter, but it's definitely helped him make more puts.
fwiw he doesn't anchor it as defined in the rules, and yes we ridicule him without mercy.

Yes

It's a pretty good solution for people who have chronic back problems and it provides them with a way to still enjoy the game of golf.

Yeah I played with a guy a few times who sucked so hard at putting until he tried an anchored strike with a 3w one day, which made him go buy a belly putter and then eventually a long putter. Probably shaved 5 shots off his hdcp over the year and change transition. I'd guess he was Mid-50s and went from a 13-ish to an 8. I remember him saying that he didn't have back issues per se but practicing was much easier and less of a chore

I finally discovered how to properly chip, pitch and flop it. Hinge and hold + putting grip à la Jordan Spieth = Awesome.

I'm curious what shot people play when say the following situation occurs

Pin in back of green, tucked. Ball goes over the green say 10 yards in the rough. Not much green to work with. Is this a regular chip on where you are gonna have a 25 ft putt, or use a flop shot and try to land it in the hole and hope it sits giving you a 1-3 footer.

Depends on the lie but I think getting on the green and take chances with a 15-20 footer has more ev then taking the chance you flop it short or in regular golfers case blade it 50 feet over the green on the other side
