Edit: It gets better!! After you watch this shot, fast forward to 24:05 for Stuart's follow up act.

Pro tip. Hit it in the bunker so you can spin the next shot and get up and down for bogey.

Phil Mickelson hitting his second shot to a par-5 out of the woods at Augusta, late in the final round to a green with a creek along side of it, out of the trees standing on pinestraw(I am doing this from memory so maybe I have some particulars wrong, but it was truly horribly awesome.)

My mind wants to spit out some others:

In a playoff, Phil Mickelson (that guy again) hits a wild slice into a deep canyon to the far left of the fairway on a medium-length par-4 at Torrey Pines in the early 2000's. Ball is for sure either lost or unplayable. Frank Lickliter just needs to keep it in play and he'll almost surely win.

Lickliter pull-hooks his drive (taking driver!) into the same canyon! Both take unplayables and eventually re-tee. Mickelson wins with a double-bogey when Lickliter three-putts from 15 feet for a heart-breaking triple-bogey.

I vaguely remember watching that go down live.

Yeah I think I was about 8 years old back then, and even I had the course management skills to be dumbfounded at not Lickliter not hitting 3 iron

PM was pissed because he hit a provy off the tee. Some jackass found his ball so he had to walk all the way back to the tee and hit the tee shot for the 3rd time. (Ball unplayable not lost)

rules question....

on the first hole at my club there is ob all down the right side....but when you get up to the green there is a road that you have to cross to get to 2 tee....if i hit OB on my hole but it is in bounds on number 2 am i actually required to play it like i hit it ob, or am i technically in bounds?(if i am in bounds on another hole)

OB. The rules address this very situation, but I can certainly understand why one would think they are in bounds.

And I bumped the rules thread that had slipped back to the 5th page I believe.

Not golf related, but I mostly only post in this forum. Today I won a 2 day 9 ball tournament at my local pool hall. I won it from the b-side after losing my second match on the first day; I won 9 straight matches on the b-side to win all the moolah! Scored 1500$ in total.

It's always more pleasing to do it from the left side. Congrats. Spot me the 7 and the break?

Played at a course where my buddy and I were paired up with 2 members. On the 7th hole my approach went right and embedded into a rock wall. One of the members told me I get a free drop. On the scorecard it also claimed a free drop due to pace of play. My buddy was trying to make me take a drop. Have you heard of courses offering very generous drops like this. Also on 1 if you sliced your tee into the next fairway you got free relief back into the fairway on 1. Found that odd, especially for a nice course.

Yeah for sure. And even more pleasing is that I have entered this tournament about 10-12 times in the last 2 years and only made the money once and it was a $50 cash. I got a little tip from a pro at my room last Thursday; he was watching me practice and noticed me missing the easiest of shots. He said there must have been a flaw in my focus at impact (not focusing on the object ball) and he was right, it changed everything.

I'm one of the weaker handicaps in the room (we handicap on games, not balls), but I beat the strongest player in the tournament 5-3 and he needed to race to 10. I essentially beat him without a handicap.

7 and the break? Might be a little too strong for me! lol

If the card says you get a free drop then you get a free drop.

Yep, I set a reminder to watch it tonight and lost interest after Sadlowski's match. I'd rather watch a highlight reel.

Scratch that, we got action!

43 year old Jeff Crittenden is in the final after knocking off the top seed in the quarterfinal, and then Joe Miller (2010 winner and runner up last year, and favorite this year apparently) in the semi-final by 1 yard.

Would be nice to see the old guy win.

$250k winner take all.

Crushing defeat for the old timer!

He hit it 365 and 7 inches and lost to 365 and 20 inches. Closest final ever.

Those yardages are really low, strong wind in their face or something?

There was a 5-15mph cross-wind, but it wasn't really in their faces. I watched the first two matches and the biggest drive I saw was 381. Sadlowski's last ball would have been much further, but it landed like 2-3 yards out of bounds.

It was also mid 50's temp wise which played a factor.

The longer the matches went on, the more it was dead into the tooth. That's why Critter did so well, he was the only low ball hitter among the finalists.

Anybody doing daily fantasy golf? Seems to me like golf could be one of the more profitable dailies, given researchable player tendencies.

Def not. Probably the most luck of all of them.
