Going to try to play Pinehurst #2 during my trip to NC next month. Just called said a single shouldn't have much trouble. Course has to be top 25 public course right? Anyone ever play it?

Gonna be in Dallas this weekend. Have been wanting to play Tour 18 because it sounds pretty cool to me. Any one played it, or recommends another course?

Yes i played it back in maybe 2006 (I want to say summer 05, though this trip was in like july so i doubt i could have gotten us on). It was 375$ a piece without caddies. completely not worth it in my opinion.

Friend played it pre-redesign and really enjoyed it.

Enjoy the collection areas!

There is one in Houston. I have not played that one but everyone who has said you're looking at a 5.5-6 hour round. Sounds awful. Check to see if the Dallas one is the same.

I worked there for a bit and played a few times. It's a course I don't think is easy to appreciate the first time you play it.

I played it some years back around the same time of year. They didn't overseed at that time (have no idea if they do now) and it's just really hard to make a brown course look like famous holes. I was less than thrilled.

If you want to go high end then play Cowboys, course is always in perfect shape with all food and non-alcoholic beverages included.

so should I not play Pinehurst then? Is it not worth it for the experience. Thought it would be pretty cool to play at the site of a US Open .

Played tour 18 couple times although not in the last two years. Does a really good job of replicating the holes. But pretty disappointed in the condition each time I played it. Maybe try it if you can find a good deal on golfnow. If you're looking to play full price for somewhere nice in that area try cowboys or bridlewood.

Depends entirely on whether you want to spend the money, and you need to know going in that it won't be in perfect condition. It's a great course but it'll be close to $500 if you aren't staying at the resort.

I'm going in a couple weeks, not playing #2 b/c I'd rather have 3 very good courses and 3 nights lodging for what it would cost just for that round.

I am going down with the wife for 5 days. Staying in Winston Salem, and was gonna take the drive over. I see Tanglewood which was used for the PGA Championship is only $39 with a cart. I played Bethpage Black last year for only $110 which I thought was a good deal. Perhaps I could better spend that money spread over a bunch of different courses, but if Pinehurst is a bucket list course then I will spend the money. If it isn't then I will pass.

I guess it just depends on what's important to you. I don't want to sell it short, it's a very good course -- although in fairness I have only walked parts of #2 -- and the remodel is pretty amazing looking. But does it have the 'wow' factor of Pebble Beach or Bandon or Augusta or something like that? Not IMO. But if you have the time and the cost isn't a big deal, why not? You'll only be 1.5 hours away and Pinehurst / Southern Pines is pretty amazing.

Having played it, I wouldn't spend the money or suggest you spend the money, but it's probably one of those things you'll end up regretting if you don't do it. So play, and just enjoy the entire experience.

Yeah it sounds like it's definitely not worth the money, but if the money amount isn't really going to affect you at all then probably go ahead and play it. It would be cool to play a course that you'll see in a few years as a major. Of course it won't play exactly the same and you might get stuck with a D-head who ruins your round or something.

The US Open will be played there a few weeks after I play it which is why I was considering it. And yeah $500 is a decent chunk for anyone. I'm all about value baby.

Didn't play it but played nearby Oxmoor Valley which was excellent (especially the Ridge course).

Heard nothing but good things about Ross Bridge.

Winter is finally fading away up here in the North (Toronto, Canada). I had a dream last night I was teeing off at my home course last night--it felt so real.

Anyone else itching as bad as me to get out there and play some ****ing golf? I know I'm not alone.

Haven't touched a club since November. Been way too cold and snowy to even think about range balls. Going on golf vacation in a week.

This should end well.
