Here is that membership I was thinking of getting.

If I am not supposed to share this link then please delete.

My biggest reason is that every course I want to play in MA has preferred tee times for it's members in the mornings on the weekends, so it is tough to get a good weekend tee time, but it is not a great deal.

well, unless i'm reading that incorrectly the $295 rate is for a foursome...
..."A group of four can purchase a golf time on either Saturday or Sunday for 30 weeks."

looks like each person saves $5 a round for 30 rounds. Sounds like $600 in savings for the group over 30 weeks - $295 membership = $305, plus each can get a GHIN handicap included, which i'd estimate runs $40-50 or so per person (another $160-200 savings). add on other discounts and it might not be quite as bad as you would think.

Yeah a group of 4 at $295 each. So if I played all 30 tee times I save $150, so then it only costs me $145 for the year.

Really almost sounds like you're just paying extra for the privilege of paying the full rate.

I'd keep shopping around man.

Brandel isn't talking about Tiger's actual golf at all, all he's saying is that his rules snafus and the way they were handled reflect poorly on his character.

Played on three islands (albeit a long time ago) and this is my recommendation, leave the clubs at home and forget about golf. Hawaii is a magical, beautiful place, IMO playing golf is a waste of time. Have vacationed there five times in the last 10 years and never once thought about playing.

went last winter and played 3 courses on Oahu. Ko'olau, Royal Hawaiian Golf Club and the Fazio Course at Turtle Bay Resort. The 1st two were absolutely amazing, would recommend to anyone golfing there the scenery was awesome and the courses were a lot of fun. Both are situated in the mountains/at the base of the mountains in a rain forest kind of setting, some stuff looked like it was directly out of Jurassic Park. The Turtle Bay course was on the North Shore right off the ocean, it was nice but didn't blow me away, i probably wouldn't play it again.

Got to strongly disagree with BO on this issue, i played 5 rounds over 7 days when i was there and had a blast. Still got to see and do a lot of the more touristy type stuff and lay around on the beach.

Thanks for the tips.
First leg of the journey will be at turtle bay while my wife has a conference, but I will have a car and can travel if you don't recommend that course.

I always stay on the North Shore just down the road from Turtle Bay, if you want ideas on things to do drop me a PM.

it's almost winter time up here in Canada. I'm trying to arrange a golf trip with the guys and my travel agent is trying to convince me to go to the Moon Palace Golf and Spa Resort in Mexico. It has 2 courses designed by Jack and she has an exclusive deal where she can offer me unlimited golf, all inclusive food and drinks (obv), airfare, accommodations for 5 nights - for $1000 per person.

Sound good? Anyone play Moon Palace Golf courses before? Any other suggestions? (my first time arranging a golf trip)

Any recommendations for a good travel golf bag? Preferably one where my clubs are 100% safe.

Anyone have any experience with hitting nets? Looking to get something to practice hitting balls in my back yard so I don't have to go to the range/ easier access/ etc etc.

Found this and really considering pulling the trigger. Obviously if I spent a little more I could get something better, but I don't feel like it'd make that much of a difference. Wanted to post here to see if anyone had any thoughts tho just in case.

In my experience with hitting nets, you get what you pay for. Im assuming for $45 that net is a giant POS

I bought one for $200 and it was a POS.

Thanks for the input. Glad I held off. I did get a Cleveland 588 58* wedge last night off rockbottomgolf for a little under $100 after shipping tho. Pretty excited about that.

I remember about 10 years ago when I was a much more avid golfer (~9 hcp) I found a golf ball that I struck well, putted and chipped well and just overall felt like a great golf ball for me

that golf ball was
Spoiler:
lady precept

after some cursory googling I noticed I wasn't the only one that found success with it. is there anyone here that uses them? I'm gonna be getting back into it next year and may go back to it - if it's roughly the same ball as before

Can anyone here give me a decent guess as to what % of tour players actually play with blade irons?
MISC/RANDOM/BS Golf Chatter Thread Quote

depends what's really considered "blade" nowadays

I'd guess 20% without really thinking about it too much.

Got off to a rough start yesterday, first hole is a dogleg left par 4 with a house inside the dogleg. Usually bomb it just right of the house cutting off a lot and the pitching from not far short of the green.

Unfortunately I came dead over the top and hit a second-story laser dead at the house. BANG! Right off the side of the house out-of-bounds. Sadness. Reload wasn't much different just not as far left leaving myself under some trees with a punch shot towards the green. Hit the punch a little low with an innocent squirrel having a snack dead in the way. POW! Nail the little rodent right in the ass. Ball still bounds up towards the green while the squirrel bolts the opposite direction none too happy. Up and down for double.

Cliffs - in my first three shots nail a house and a squirrel en route to a 6.

I'm sure it's been asked before and probably common knowledge at this point, but for homes purchased on golf courses it's home owners insurance that covers everything, right?

Is there a special add on or whatever you need to buy when you get that insurance to ensure it'd cover accidental damage from arid golf shots?

There may be coverage you can get, but in almost every case it's the owner's responsibility as the damage is part of the expectation of living there. I forget how it's worded.
