Buying a set of miura 202cb with 1x soft stepped PXi 7.0 (so ~6.66 on the PX scale). Pretty pumped, though I won't be able to use them much for a while.

This leaves just a new 3 wood, which I'll wait for next year to get. Hopefully they release a new R11 version that's a tiny bit juiced. Don't want to hit a RBZ 3 wood like 285.

Pics I've seen look fantastic.

I put it in one of the top 3 I've played, behind Pebble and Straits ... but that and $2.25 will get you on the subway as I haven't played *that* many top courses. One of the guys I played with played mini-tour, and he's played *a lot* more courses than I have. He put it in his US top 10. Everyone who played it in the group I was with in Pinehurst last week came away saying it is the best course in the village.

damn, im completely lost.

So i walked into our local store to find a driver. Got them to measure my ss which is like a 104 so i guess i should be going for a stiff driver. But they only had a couple of nike drivers, some callaway razrx hawk black down stuff that was on sale. I kinda want to take a look at the new mizuno jpx 825, but i dont really want to wait that long. Other choice for me would probably be either a taylormade (r11s or RBZ) or i could go with the mizuno jpx800 which actually would save me a nice sum of money.

I dont think i really need all the tampering i can do with the taylormades. So thats why i was thinking about a "simple" club like the mizuno driver.

Anyone has any ideas?

Ordered my miura 202 cb with +1/2 inch PXi 7.0 shafts, 3-PW.

For only... $1989! So with a new driver, hybrid, and irons, I've spent close to $2900 on clubs this year. Regripped my clubs too for another $150ish.

Will need new wedges at some point next year, and likely a new 3 wood... but then shouldn't need a new club for a long time. Super pumped for my irons, too bad the season is going to end right when I get them, haha.

edit: also have $400 in proshop credit I have to use before the end of the year at my club... maybe I'll have them order some new wedges for me.

Just buy $397 worth of socks and a logo ball.

Anybody have/tried the Taylormade ATV wedges? Kind of looking for a 60* wedge.

Reviews and everything look great, but I just can't believe that it plays well off of tight lies. When I look at one and open the face a little, the leading edge sits up too high for my liking. But they say the way it's designed that it still works.

My dad explained to me in excruciating detail how his new irons are designed to skim along the grass and help him scoop the ball into the air.

Haha. I did something like this 6 or 7 years ago, not quite 400 bucks worth, but I still don't have to worry about socks.

Two notes:

1) Grant Waite was on GC's "On the Range" program last night. Hearing him and Billy Harmon talk was just hilarious. Grant talked about patterns and data, Harmon just threw out the usual cliches. Hope they have Grant on more, that's the future of instruction.

2) True has new shoes coming out this year. The first new one, the "Sensai" is available for sale now. Looks really good. I love my phx's, but man do I take a lot of crap for them. These look more traditional with the same technology (or lack thereof).

I dunno if I would describe the True Sensei as more traditional - they look more like running shoes to me. When I think traditional in golf shoes I think closer to Foot Joy Classics (RIP).

I'm thinking about getting a pair of Senseis for general wear but might wait for the release of the Proto model for a leather upper that's waterproof.

Looks like they'll also be refreshing the Tour and Stealth models as well as releasing a chukka style.

Yeah, traditional definitely a bad word choice there. My intent was to convey "less clownshoe-ish" which they are.

I've never played with anyone that hasn't commented on my true tours. They're also size 14s, so they do look like clown shoes.

w/e, they're the best golf shoes I've ever owned.

Do you have the 2011s or 2012s?

I don't think I've ever had anyone comment on my 2012s, though I picked up a pair of 2011s ($29 closeouts ftw) and yeah they def look clownish.

Also in the don't care, great shoes camp. At some point I'm probably going to have to just dump all the rest of my shoes since I never wear anything else.

I've got the "team color" ones they released a couple of months ago. Just the white with blue stripe and blue laces. I catch tons of **** for them, but I still love them.

I had four pairs of shoes in my rotation, haven't touched any of them since I picked up my true tours. Some people comment on them and they look a little clownish but idgaf, they are great shoes.

The Senseis are really hideous though imo, for that price i'd go with the phx

Question about the range:

How does the range measure yardages? Is it a direct line from the yardage sign to each respective flag, or they draw a straight line from the yardage sign to the far end of the range, and mark off yardages? (The latter implies that from the point you are standing on the range, a direct line to a flag could imply a greater or smaller distance than is indicated by the yardage sign.)

That really depends on which range you are at. There's no uniform standard way of doing it

Nice find. I'll have to watch the older ones as I didn't start watching until Ollie won in '94.
