Just for fun...

This is my 4 year old. He got a new driver for being in a wedding this weekend, and tried it out at the range. He hits the ball quite well and has a balanced, coordinated, smooth swing. I was surprised to catch his swing at the top with my cell phone camera.

He looks very good. Keep it up, but remember it has to be fun for him.

In before some internet expert tells you that his club is across the line at the top, he should be more laid off, like Tiger, blah blah blah.

Seriously, though, that's one nice looking swing for age four.

No worries on the dad pushing kid into sports thing... He's good and we know it but we are neutral with him - we don't overly celebrate (aside from me posting on a board he hopefully won't find for another 15 years) nor do we discourage him from doing what he likes. He's learning alot from sports already but we're very careful about it. He's a normal kid and that's all we want. I just wish I could swing like him now, let alone 26 years ago.

I don't have it, but I don't see why you couldn't record your swing with it, put it on youtube and post it here.

That's really pretty rude and presumptuous to play a course that is closed so the staff can have time to take care of things without golfers in the way.

If I was the Super, I'd have you banned.

Found something on the range today. I really think this is it.

Most drives went a bit lower and much straighter, even quite a few of those that I pushed a little had a faint draw on them.

There still is a timing issue, pushing or pulling the drives, but not any bigger slices, just a few fades. And it seemed extremely reproduceable. After hitting about 7 buckets I went in for lunch, then practiced putting and chipping, then I went to the range again and hit 4 more buckets, and it was as if I had had no break at all.

So look up for me posting 40+ stableford scores in the 'wadaya shoot today' thread in the coming days.

Yes I'm sure the Super doesn't have any clue about it. Anyway, it didn't happen as the varmint guy got called away on an emergency job (can't wait to hear the details of that...)

What?!

11 buckets of balls? I hope you get them free or really cheap. At my local range it would cost me $143 to hit that many balls.

Lots of ranges have a monthly 'unlimited balls' pass for about $30.

how big is a bucket? i can see myself doing this if there are like 10 ball in a bucket. maybe 15. if it's a bucket of 35 like at my course, there's no way i am hitting that many. i hit 105 two days ago in 95 degree heat, wearing long pants and a cotton tshirt (dumb i know) and i couldn't get out of the sun fast enough.

I usually use a 3w/5w in this situation....I feel like it will be more consistent then blading a wedge. Right/wrong? Thoughts?

This. I don't care how small the buckets are, that's a lot of range balls.

On an unrelated subject, major props to Ping customer service. It took them 2 days to reshaft my 5 iron and get it out the door. Now I get to go see what it's like having a different model shaft and a different grip (discontinued lines FTL) compared to the rest of my set.

There are about 30-35 in a bucket. And it is free if you are a member of the club. No coins or tokens. free.

Before a round I usually hit one or maybe two buckets. Sunday and today is the only time this year that I have hit bucket loads of balls. Sunday was about 5 buckets. Today I practiced for a little over 3 hours, including putting and chipping.

If you really want to practice that is about the amount of balls you need to hit, but if you pay by the bucket, that is a major beat.

is this in Denmark, or wherever you are from? it must be a nice 70 F degree weather over there. the heat is like my #1 enemy right now.

I don't agree at all. That's way too many to keep getting anything out of the practice. The range is a prime example of diminishing returns.

Oh, ok, that equals about 3.5 to 4 typical "large" buckets at the places I've been . (Typically 90 to 100 balls/bucket.) My max is 2 buckets, but I could see how 4 would be possible if you're hitting at a quick pace.

It was probably something along the lines of great big gobs of greasy grimy gopher guts.

The only good varmint is dead varmint.

Your buddy has got to look like Carl Spackler.

He can correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears that Java is including putting and chipping in there? How many full shots did that include (just curious). On a similar note, I almost got through a large bucket tonight before my back got to me.

The thing is, you build a swing which allows you to swing that many times.. Which means a nice easy swing. You identify a lot of things you're doing wrong by what starts to ache, etc.
