I was doing some drills in my house during the week and started thinking about my grip etc, along with the recent hand issue I kind of had to monkey around with it to get it comfortable and I thought about how open my grip is.
My left hand seems find but my right hand seemed very open, and while it felt comfortable I could tell that it likely hurt me if I didnt get proper wrist roll more so than with a different grip.. so I did some googling...
This is what my gripped looked like (online stock photo)
...and my RH was probably even more open
So I started taking swings in drills with this grip
and while it did not feel great (what really does in golf at first it seems) I could tell I was rolling the wrist better and this would stop me from leaving the face open more so..
Instead of testing it out at the range I took it right to the course and hit the most FIRs I have all year with 2 others in the first cut of rough and 2 just through some doglegs, I didnt hit any big slices like I would occasionally and even on my irons I hit some really good shots particularly on one where I was just off in the first cut and just over 170 away, I hit a nice 6i up hill to 15 feet dead at the pin and 2 putted for par.
I also hit a bunch of other nice shots overall, and while my score didnt reflect it ... it will soon
