It's most likely a combination of just about everything. If you can post a video of your swing we'd be happy to help you out.

I have to disagree with early tee times being the nuts. I don't think I start getting better than a bogey until it's at least 10am.

early tee times on weekends are the nuts because you arent stuck behind slow people

That's why I play during the week and play with my weener on the weekends. Don't need to play 5 hour rounds that way.

Can't wait till saturday the 11th. Playing 36 at world woods. Playing on both courses (#2 and #7 rated public courses in Florida) for only $80.

I guess this forum is big enough to make money for 2+2. Anyone else notice the Taylor Made R11 banner add running at the top of 2+2?

I just noticed this today.

Any thoughts on PGA Tour practice rounds? I am thinking about going to the practice round for the Memorial tomorrow. I have been to quite a few PGA Tour events but never a practice round. Would it be worth a 2 hour drive + $30? I don't even know what time they usually start playing practice rounds afaik they just go off whenever they want and with whoever they want, correct?

Also grunching here but the Memorial is the nut low imo selling only a weeklong "badge" and not selling any individual day tickets. I really don't want to go to all days but would like to just go to 1 day but it certainly isn't worth $155.

Been to the Memorial practice round a lot. Very good time to see some range work/etc.

If you are actually thinking about watching and getting close to the pros, I suggest you consider going to see the US Open Sectional Qualifying on Monday. Always a TON of big pros playing since they are in Columbus for the week and need to qualify and you can get in-between the ropes.

Here's the tee sheet; http://ohiogolf.org/html/tournaments...USGA&year=2011

Thanks for that link. I might try to get to that.

That said, Muirfield is an awesome track to walk and the weather is good in Ohio this week. If you go there, make sure you watch holes 14 and the tee shot on 15. Also sit by the green on 11 and 12 for some neat views.

I can't believe i've only just found the golf part of 2+2, great subforum.

I've been playing a couple of months, had a few lessons but my pros so far have seemed completely clueless so i've booked up 6hrs with Dan Whittaker (DFW1500 on Golfwrx - http://www.danwhittakergolf.com) on Friday. I have to drive like 400miles to get there but I can't wait. I'll write a TR when i get back and some before/after swing videos at some point in the future.

Can anyone recommended a good stroke counter? Preferably a digital one. I've seen a bunch of crappy ones on amazon and a few that seem way overpriced.

Yeah, I have been to the Memorial twice in the past. I was surprised at how hilly it is. I don't think I am going to end up going tomorrow though. I think I would rather play.

These work pretty well, you can usually find them at your local course's pro shop. Pretty cheap, too

I keep mine in my head on each hole. My friend, who is also a hack has one of those stupid clickers to keep track.

When I'm putting I'm saying in my head "this is for eight, two, one P, two S". That's my total strokes, putts, penalties, and sand strokes. Pretty ridiculous I guess but it seems to work.

That's more or less what I do. I can't imagine why anyone would need some sort of counter. I mean, even if shoot an 11 I can count that high in my head.

I'm kind of amazed that anyone would need to use a stroke counter tbh. Even if I lose track during a hole it's pretty easy to run back through the hole in my head - "drive left rough, 4-iron short left of green, chip, 2-putt" or whatever. Write your score down on your card along with whatever notation you use to keep track of stats like putts and move on to the next.

The clicker is ridiculous. Digging that thing out of your pocket after every shot...

I think keeping track in your head is better anyway as it forces you to really pay attention to your shots and how bad you are playing. "Drive, then I shanked that 4 iron 20 feet, then next shot was in the sand, then two strokes to get out and this is my third putt". Being able to recall each specific shot will help remind you of where/how you are going wrong. The counter has no memory! And with the counter the focus is on "adding up all my shots" as opposed to "playing the best golf I can".

Ya worst part about being a hacker is having to tally up some pretty terrible holes. That and duffing everything.

I haven't used a card outside of tournaments in probably 6 years. Unless I'm playing an unknown course I can go through each hole and figure out all my important stats fairly quickly. As for my score, I just keep track of how many over I am as I'm playing. No need for a scorecard imo.

When I'm near scratch I'll do that too. Should be there in 2 years.
