For your 5w. How much longer than your 3i, and how much shorter than D?

I am pretty skeptical here. I would guess it takes ~= 25-30 minutes to drive most courses in a cart without getting out.

For me, my driver is about 310, so it is significantly shorter than the driver. My 3i barely has a consistent distance since I just can't hit it well. On a decently-struck ball, my 3i might go 220-225. But my 5i goes 205 and 4i 215. But I rarely ever hit my 3i solidly, and have basically given up trying. So its really pointless for me to have the 3i at this point

It def happened. Several factors played into that round: This is a short muni course, only 6000 yards. I had the fastest cart (I worked there at the time, so I knew which carts were good and which were slow as ****). The cart paths go right up next to the tee boxes so there is little walking. (Plus, I probably parked way too close to the greens, oh well.) I have played this course hundreds of times, so I pretty much know all of the distances, what club to hit off each tee, and the break of the greens. I was playing well at the time, so it was pretty much just step off the cart and hit the ball. And of course, there was nobody else on the course so I could just fly. I also think it would take maybe 15 mins max to drive most courses

In carry???. that´s long, and your 4iron very close to the 5w. I need something more inbetween i guess.

Not carry, just in total. I am really tall so I have a crazy long swing arc that helps me get distance. I also rarely hit the 4i just because im fairly inconsistent with that too so effectively my distances go 310, 240, 205. Thats why a hybrid that goes ~225 would be nice. Come to think of it, maybe I should just ditch the 4i too and get another wedge or something

I dont hit my long irons well enough to get real yardages out of them.

So I got a 4h that goes 215-220 off the tee and 210 off the ground, well I used it to replace my 3i which went 200-210 (closer to 200). Now I have a gap between my 4i that goes 185ish and my 4h which goes 210. I never hit my 3w or 5w anymore so Im thinking about ditching those 2 clubs and picking up a 3h and a 5h. The 3h for 225+ shots and the 5h to fill the gap between my 4i and 4h.

So my bag would look like D, 3h, 4h, 5h, 4i-sw, lob wedge, and putter.

I believe a standard 3 wood these days is 15 degrees with a strong 3 wood being 13 or 14.

This is the exact club aside from it being RH instead... a friend bought it because he wanted to try 1, hated it (he hates anything that isnt an iron) and I hit it really well at the time and he gave it to me. I actually won a bet once by playing the entire back 9 with it aside from putting and shot a 47 (terribrag)

I think I have a first generation Taylor Made Rescue TP in the basement that's 14 degrees. Bought it due to inability to hit a fairway wood, worked pretty well as a 3w replacement.

Random question of the day. Do they play pro-ams all over the United States every Monday, or is that just something they do up here in the Pacific Northwest?

Those of us lucky (?) enough to live in the US have to find a new hobby now that our government agrees with China's internet censorship policies.

For me its even worse. I like fishing offshore for grouper and feds and Florida have banned grouper fishing for a minimum of 6 months this year (up to all year).

So my 3 favorite hobbies are fishing, poker, and golf. The government has taken 2 of those from me. Im sure golf is next.

I'm pretty sure that seasonality has a huge impact on this forum.... It's starting to get real nice most places so people can actually golf....

For me the NFL lockout has a big impact as I normally spend half my online time debating all things NFL related, and I just have nothing to say on the NBA that would interest anyone in SE, so I spend a lot more time reading and posting here.

Also the addition of the dagolfdoc's thread and ship--this's sweat threads (two of the best threads anywhere in 2+2), they've elevated the forum.

Common here in Michigan. I've played in a couple, nice way to play a different course. Wish I had more Mondays off.

If they ban golf down the road, I'm banning you.

Another endorsement for the Phil dvd. I have probably watched it 30 or 40 times and it has improved my short game dramatically.

Pretty sure some guy was trying to rip me off today. I went to a golf course that is a Titleist Certified Fitting Center and I was going through with the guy what I wanted (basing this off my current set), +1 in. in length, 2* strong, Project X 6.0 shafts (which Titleist has in their Custom Options brochure PDF on their website as not being an upgrade), oversized wrap grips, etc. He writes this all down, goes into the back for like 10 minutes and says something like, "alright with all those upgrades and "tweak" to the clubs it is going to be $5/club for bending them strong, $7 for length adjustment, $11/club for the shafts, etc." I told him I didn't want a stock set they had on the floor and him to make the changes there but instead just wanted them to take my fitting and send it to Titleist to have them make the irons and he said something like "it will cost the same bro." Seemed to me he was ripping me off as nothing on Titleist's website indicates anything I wanted was an upgrade except possibly the shafts. I mean isn't the whole point of custom fitting to make the set for you? Why would I have to pay for a set of clubs that actually fit me?

so $23 more per club, or ~$185 extra for a set of irons, and he didn't fit you? You just told him the specs?

go to a standard retail store and they'll custom order them for free a lot of times. No need to go to that guy unless you actually want to get fitted.

might be a $1 extra per grip but everything else should be good to go for free

Yeah, I mean I have my specs. I don't really feel like I need to get fitted atm. I just need them about 3/4" longer and 2* strong along with oversized grips and probably a different shaft (I want the Project X instead of the stock Dynamic Gold but can't really tell from Titleist's website if that is an up-charge or not).

Just go to your local Golfsmith or whatever is near you, they'll be more than happy to custom order them for you. Just have to wait a week or so. Could be an upgrade charge for those shafts, I'm not the best resource on this at the moment.

What do you guys think of these? They are the exact length and lofts I am looking for. The guy also said he would sell them for $285...

http://cgi.ebay.com/Mint-Condition-L...QQcmdZViewItem

I could then just order individual 3-5 from Titleist with the same specs.

I'm playing Wooden Sticks this saturday in the GTA, and I'm pumped. It's a replica course with 12 replica holes from famous courses around the world. #17 at sawgrass, the church pew hole from oakmont, amen corner, etc.
It's normally close to 200$/round, but they are offering a special for 2 rounds, 2 meals, 2 carts for like 160. I'm glad to be finally ticking it off my bucket list.

Being 6'4 should I look into getting my clubs extended? I specifically targeted Taylor Mades since they run longer but I still feel I "crouch" a little too much?

Yes. I got mine extended when I grew to 6'4 and it helped greatly. (Now taller but still have same clubs) Your spine will be at a much better angle and it will free your swing up a lot.
