The last time I was out I was hitting all my fairway irons thin so they were staying low. I hit a big mega-slice drive that landed clean in the other fairway (FIR, not). I grabbed a 4i and figured there was no way I'd strike it well enough to get it up into the tree canopy and sure enough I strike it just right and it flies right into the ****ing tree and falls straight down. "Oh you would ****ing figure out how to hit the damn ball now!" is basically what I yelled at myself after the shot.
After every hole I jot down any notes like "F, 2P, 1S, made 22 ft pt" which would stand for fairway hit, 2 penalty strokes, 1 sand shot. Well I played so bad last time out that my note on the 7th hole after a 10 was simply calling myself a politically-incorrect slur.
its terrible when you actually make those shots because you start to think you can, Ive tried to shots that were tough punches through trees the last 2 rounds... 1st was a perfect 7i punch to 15ft, and the 2nd was the one I mentioned that was too good and flew the green... it was literally less than a 3 foot gap, I definitely spent a little time studying the angle of the club and my line before hitting it... but it was still dumb.
I definitely have been tracking my shots more so and I need to get a little book and pencil to carry in my back pocket to track my shots and results going forward so I can use it to get better as fast as possible..
..I had one of those holes where I said things to myself like that this weekend, slice a drive but leave a standard shot out of the rough but hit a worm burner 10yds, followed by another AND another finally onto the fairway which I then topped as in the ball jumps 6 inches straight up then rests in same spot followed by same thing but it rolls backwards then I end up 30 yrds short, then skull it over, chip it on and 2 putt for a ****ing 11. Even my buddy I play with a ton was like WTF you never do that.
Of course it was after going bogey bogey to open where I am feeling good
