I haven't even played with it yet though. Just hit a couple balls with it at a demo and was hitting it close to what I hit a 3 wood. I think a steel shaft should bring that distance down to the gap I am intending to fill with it.

I've now played 4 rounds on the course I averaged 41 on last year. my rounds have been 48-47-49-48.

So depressing. Zero consistency. I hate golf (well, not really).

Course I play the most last year I generally shot 97-101 on so far this year I have done a 107, 108 and 117 so I feel your pain...

...Just think its early and you know the course in our area are wet and awful generally.

We should definitely get a round in this year ND

Hey guys I have a noob question about clubs.

I was looking through a bag and saw some weird club. it wasnt a 9 iron or a pitching wedge but it looked like a putter back had a / on it and it was really bulky at the bottom and as it went up it got slightly thinner. It also had like a putter line on it to line up the ball. What would this be called and when would you use it?

Sounds like a "chipper" type club

...clearly used around the greens, kind of a waster for many people that need to keep their club count at a certain amount since you can chip with anything but I have seen randoms use it

hmm its not like that but it could be. It is almost like a putter but the bottom of the club but the bottom is fat and thick and hte top is a bit thinner. You are prolly right though.

I have a club that is clearly a sand wedge. the face of the club is huge and the face is slanted.

when you are in a bunker or in the rough trying to volley/loft it into the green you can usually use a 8 or 9 iron or a sand wedge right?

48, 47, 49,48. That looks very consistent to me!

It's probably a putter. Putters come in many different sizes and shapes. Just go to golfsmith website and search putters and you'll see.

If you are trying to flop it up on the green you might consider using a lob wedge, which has more loft than a sand wedge. You might use an 8i for a little chip just to get a little air over the grass around the green and then let it run. Basically using a putting stroke and the loft of the club gives it air to fly over the fringe. There is a youtube video of Phil flopping a ball over a guy's head who is standing about 5 feet away from him.

Post a pic of weird club?

All I can picture is "Hi, I'm Peter Kostis... this is, the perfect club."

what do we call this shot where they just dig into the ground just behind the ball, no follow through, i watched this on tv, couple of pros playing this around green, i don't know what kind of chip shot that is, can some one pls help me out, if there is any particular term for that kind of chip shot, thank you.

sounds more like a punch shot, but its rare to punch from around the green...

No follow through? Are they chopping it out of really thick grass or something?

i think last week at the players i saw one of young asian guy as i remember on hole 17 par 3, it ended up close to edge of green , from there he just chips it in to the hole, he just digs his club behind the ball, no more follow through, i was just wondering if there is any specific term for those kind of chip shots or its just a chip shot, i guess he chipped in one more that day from 10-20 yds from green

I just think of it as a chip shot where I know my wedge is going to have to dig into the ground, it will come out low and fast, less than ideal but pretty common on tough courses with thick greenside rough

Some people like this way of chipping, but mostly it is due to the lie. If the lie is low (can´t get under the ball) you are forced to stay behind it/dig. This obv demands accuracy since the club stays where it hits the ground and your angle angle is very steep.

then i guess it's hard to control that speed

This is exactly what i am talking about, club stays where it hits the ground.

I don´t think it´s called anything other than just a chip. Chipping from fairway, rough, crap is all different, but afaik they are all just called chipping. Club staying in the ground is not a technique, but a result.

pretty sure my clubs were stolen from my local Audi dealer when I dropped my car off at the end of last week. I just noticed. this comes right after I go on a 100k downswing and the DOJ owns me. I run bad.

edit: oh and I was supposed to go on a beach + golf trip this weekend for Memorial Day but now I'm on life tilt.

I think he's referring to KJ Choi's chip on 18 in regulation? It was like an 8 iron from the light rough.

about to golf on a tuesday at a place I've never played before... The whites are only like6400 where the tips are 6800 and trny ones are 7400, my buddy said he always plays the whites?? If we do I'll feel like I'm playing ladies tees as most par 4s are under 400, but I may be able to ditch my driver for most of the round since I've been god awful with it and use my 4i or 5i which I'm much mor consistent with and will only lose like 50 to 80yds but I'll still only be a solid 7i away in most cases
