I've had a Vegas trip planned for about 6 weeks now, and drive up Tuesday. Had 3 rounds of golf booked(Wolf Creek, Paiute, and Rio Secco). Rio Secco already got scratched because a buddy is coming into town and we made other plans, and now I see it's going to be 115 and 116 degrees the days the other 2 rounds are booked. I'm playing early, 6:15 & 7:00, and am used to playing in the heat, but ugh, that sounds awful. I usually don't play here if the high is gonna be over about 108-110, but man, it's Vegas and I really want to check out these courses.

Of the 3 you have listed I would play Rio Secco over all else. I just really like that course. Toughen up and drink lots of water!

Interesting. I haven't played any of them and for some reason was under the impression Rio Secco would rank 3 of 3. Maybe I'll add that back in and play it the morning I drive home. Only 109 that day!

And I probably will just suck it up and deal with it. Lots of water, cooling towels, and shade when possible.

I have played all 3...seem to recall Wolf Creek being an absolute haul to get to but maybe mixing them up.

I remember liking Pauite the best but none were particularly memorable

Yeah Wolf Creek is pushing an hour and a half away up in Mesquite. I'll have my car and all the time in the world so figured why not. Tried to pick courses that were highly recommended in the Vegas golf thread but still in my budget.

Thanks. I took a mental health day Tuesday. Besides that I lifted weights Monday, walked 18 both Wednesday and Thursday. Lifted today. Just keep swimming.

Paiute is good. I have only played Wolf but I thought it was very nice. Wolf Creek is the one in Mesquite. Course was in good shape as of like 4 weeks ago.

Wolf is actually the one I'm booked for at Paiute next Friday. I'm really looking forward to it.

Guy the other day complimented my commitment to keeping my head down when I putt. Thats the 2nd such compliment in 3 weeks. Thanks Gary Player. I can usually tell if its a good putt by the sounds people make when they see a ball heading towards the hole. If I dont hear Anything by the time I think its halfway there then its usually a bad putt.

i've been told by a really good golfer that if you only watched me putt you'd think i'm a scratch golfer. so hey, i've got that going for me.

Played my member guest the last two days and my guest did 2 things today I have never seen before. On day 1 he was putting terrible on the greens, but doing very well putting from off the green, sometimes from way way off the green because he was afraid to chip. So today he put his old putter back in the bag to use on the greens, but kept the other putter for putting when off the green. On the first hole he is short of the green and instead of taking a wedge and a putter he takes 2 putters. He puts the first one close and then uses the other putter to save par. I've never seen someone use two different putters on the same hole, let alone do it to get up and down.

Later in the day he hits one way left off the tee and drills a house. A lady pokes her head out and yells something at him, and then goes bag inside. He's super upset because this lady is mad at him and he may have done damage to the house. He tees up another one and then proceeds to hit the same house again. He starts freaking out and I'm laughing hysterically. He gives me this pissed off look and says this isn't funny that lady is really pissed off, and all I could get out was "I'm trying not to laugh but I can't...."

Fortunately the lady didn't come back out again. The cart girl was coming up and saw the second shot and said it bounced off the roof back into play and told us what bush it was by. His ball was in deep crap and he tried to chop it out. The chef's kiss part of the hole was he then shanks it and hits our cart. I told him I'm giving you the hook and you need to pick it up.

Spoiler:
We did not finish in the money.

Member/Guest is always fun if that's exactly all you want out of it, fun. Trying hard to win $ takes the fun right out of it.

Was thinking maybe some duct tape would hold it a little better? If I like how this feels I would look into some hot melt until I buy a new one.
when you put up the lead tape take a screw driver and roll the tape over so the edges blend in better to the club

Yeah it is. He’s never played in USGA event before so I’m excited for him.

Motivating too. We used to beat each other’s brains in for a lot of years until I more or less stopped playing ~10 years ago

Where did he qualify at? I was looking at the qualification scores and I see they play 18 instead of the 36 the US Open does. Also saw the guy that has one the 40+ event here in FL 2 or 3 times is an alternate.

I was fit for a driver three years ago, but want to get fitted again. I'm trying to decide if I want to pay $50 which would go towards a new club that I may or may not need or buy, or if I want to spend $125 to get the report. $50 would go towards a club.

I thought the track man I used at the driving range kept track of the spin rate, launch angle and maybe ball speed but when I logged in just now all I can find is The grouping of my shots. There is no data at all. Perhaps I did not sign in when I was using the app before? Basically I think all I want to know is the ball speed / swing speed, launch angle and attack angle. Is that typically available from trackman at the driving range?

Spin rate is paramount, gotta know that. Clubhead speed is irrelevant, ball speed is what matters.

TM numbers are useful but don’t try to fit yourself. Good luck!

Thanks. Don't worry, no way I would try to fit myself. Knowing those numbers would be more for my own records and curiosity. I wondered if trackman records that in their Android app.
