I seriously considered buying one of these before I ended up getting the cart I have now. If our course would ever allow personal carts to be on the course I probably would pick one of these up.

Weather permitting I am playing a match tomorrow against the two regulars in my ground and one of the rotating players we have. It's going to be me vs the other 3 in match play, no strokes given.

Their handicaps are 10.3, 10.6 and 21.1. I offered the 21.1 to play up a tee and he said no because "playing up gets him in more trouble". Okay by me. I'm still going to offer it to him on the first tee to move up to the whites whenever he wants to on the day.

So, what do you think my odds are? I looked at the scorecard from Tuesday against the 10.3, 10.6 and a different player (he was a 13). I would have won 2 and 1. Some background on their games:

10.3 - Solid player who rarely seems to make worse that bogey.
10.6 - He has blow up holes often. If he is in the wrong mental state he can really lose it.
21.1 - Obviously lots of blow up holes but can hit the ball a decent distance when he times up his crazy swing.

Playing my first out of state course this weekend. Needed to drive my parents from NJ to NC last minute tomorrow and fly home Sunday. Playing Carolina Lakes which is apparently the #2 rated course near Charlotte. Insane how cheap it is for being a nice course but with club rentals it would still be a pretty penny. Anyone ever play there? Still nervous about getting paired with 2 elitist ******* golfers as the other twosome because I stink but so far it's been more in my head than in reality. Will be nice to get out with my brother in law on a beautiful course after an 11 hour ride.

I asked this before but club rentals are $55. Is that pretty standard? I'm guessing they give you some pretty nice clubs? My clubs are complete ****, starter set Wilson's so it's prob worth it just pay to use nice clubs for a round anyway. But since I don't care about clubs and I'm only flying one way with zero luggage would it be more cost effective to invest in a golf travel bag and check my clubs?

If you do a couple of things nobody will care if you're good or not: Be pleasant. Be ready to play when it's your turn. ****, that's pretty much it. The only people I hate playing with are raging *******s or those who slow things way down because they don't pull a club or do anything to get ready until everyone else is waiting on them. A fast player who shoots 120 is much better to play with than a turtle that shoots 80.

Rental rate seems standard/reasonable and they'll usually be pretty decent clubs in my limited experience. Unless you travel more no real reason imo to get a travel bag and pay the airline bag charge.

The rentals will be nice. That's around what our club charges for rentals and the last time I looked our rental bags were TaylorMade M2 woods and irons.

Awesome. Thank you for that feedback guys.

I've manned up and gone out by myself a few times here. Only twice at nicer full par 72 courses and everyone was cool. I still get in my head when a guy reaches a green in 2 and I'm on my 6th show but if I can't find my ball after 10 seconds I drop and move on. No one seemed to give me any ****.

And I've never played with a proper set of nice clubs. Excited for the rental now. Could end up costing me way more than $55

Tomorrow I start the first of 5 straight days of playing golf. I'm not sure I've done that since high school.

One day is a tournament. The rest are just early morning rounds and then an evening 9 hole men's club.

Update. Borrowed a Titleist T200 7-iron from the pro to try out different shots on the course.

Insane! Felt just like a 7-iron too. Had one really tough shot from 187 to a back pin. I hit a bullet 4 iron which turned over a bit into bunker. I dropped another one and hit the smooth 7 iron just for fun. Easy front fringe.

Since everything has been pushed back and compressed, it's now tournament golf season! The Golf Channel Am Tour died and the US Am Tour replaced it. Basically same everything. The thing that interested me most was their year-end event this year is at Innisbrook. No clue if it's going to be 2 or 4 rounds but anything I can drive 15 minutes to I am down for.

Upcoming schedule:
6/20 - US Am Tour TPC Tampa Bay
6/27 - The Grint Tour Innisbrook Island
7/4 - US Am Tour Innisbrook Copperhead
7/10-12 - FL 40 and Over (formerly Mid-Senior) Championship (at 2 local Club Corp courses that I am very familiar with)

Nice! this was just stock stiff. Gained about 25+ yards.

I pretty much have to get them now. The one thing I didn’t really think about that I noticed is that when you hit your 7 iron almost 180 yards, you can layup on par 5s easier and you can miss short a lot easier.

For example if I have 185 yards to a hole right now, I hit 4 iron. 4 irons are hard to hit. And if I want to miss short, I’d hit 5. 5 irons are slightly easier to hit but not really. So I usually just hit the 4.

But if I can have the control and consistency of a 7 iron to miss short? That’s just a game changer. I did that one one hole today...I had to lace a 4 iron over a tree from 200 knowing it was going to be short, but it in a good spot. There was a very non-zero chance I hit it right into the tree or hit a big hook into the water. It needed a near perfect strike to work. I dropped a ball and hit a super easy T200 7 from the same spot and they were within about 10 feet of each other just short of the green. There was about a 98% chance the 7 iron was Going over the tree.

Played 18 holes over the past few days. I hadn’t been golfing in 10 years. Many bad shots, a few good shots, got some color on my face, And had a nice time walking surrounded by nice scenery.

Best shot so far was the 5 wood that flew high with a little draw on the way down to land exactly where I was aiming on the skirt of the heavily guarded green 200 yards away. I didn’t have any tees left so I had to hit off the ground. The entrance to the green is about 10 yards wide On the right hand corner with High bunkers on both sides. I chipped to 7 feet and made the par putt.

As I was walking off the green I noticed that the two guys ahead of me were teeing off so I stopped walking about 10 paces off the green. FORE RIGHT. I cover my head and a ball landed a foot in front of my feet. Close one.

42-44-86. 1 birdie, 2 double bogeys. 70.8/134/6330 yards

Have moved on to the acceptance stage of grief for progressive distance loss. I'm going to have to become a lot more proficient with the 3 wood since I'll be hitting a lot of of them into par 4s and even par 5s. Otherwise, I would describe today as pretty average in all respects.

decided to crack open my old dusty copy of "golf is not a game of perfect" and to my surpise, just inside the front cover were some old pictures from a different time in my life that got me all sentimental.

pups of yesterday to remind me of whats really important in life and what is just superficial bullshit.

there needs to be chapters in "golf is not a game of perfect" titled "what i learned from a bad dog." and "what i learned from a good dog."

imo

perfect.

what's really important in life is living in the moment to create the memories that you want to reflect upon later in life.

I set up some lessons with a really good teaching pro in the Toronto area and had our first session Monday. I get really short arms on the back swing, poor shoulder turn and too many "moves" on the way back. We worked on a takeaway that has a bit of a later hinge and trying to feel like I have a ball squeezed in between my forearms.
He sent me this montage of the lesson.

God I need to work on my standing posture.
