Nice - glad you signed up for the mid-senior!

I've got the NLU 36-hole event two week from tomorrow (blind draw partner 18 best ball in the morning and 18 modified alternate shot afternoon) and then the state mid-am qualifier a few weeks after that.

Other than that a one-man scramble even in September and a two-day two-man event mid-October to wrap up the tournament season.

Caddying for my buddy in the US Mid-Am qualifier this month, too!

Very cool. Good luck. What does the winner of an amateur tournament get? There's no money prize, is there?

No money. Here is what you get besides the trophy:

Exemptions Earned from this Tournament
Winner

Current year's Mid-Amateur Championship
Next year's Amateur Championship
Next year's Amateur Match Play Championship

Last year the winner shot -15 over 3 rounds. I don't have that in me but goal is to make the cut. I actually played with the guy who won it in a one day tournament earlier this year. Pretty solid player but I would have never guessed he would have won it.

Realized I've been too lazy about keeping track of shots/scores on the course, what's the best app for that these days?

Looking for something that'll help me find out where I'm losing the most strokes, keep a database of my rounds, etc. Don't mind paying a few bucks if it's an upgrade, obv

This girl, Amanda, that does the silly interviews is pretty annoying.

I don't know anything about this, but in searching for a small GPS, I came across this and it sounds pretty fascinating. Auto shot tracking looks interesting, but I think you need to buy sensors and if that's the case perhaps this gets to be too expensive.... Edit: since you were looking for a app I'm guessing this is too expensive already but I can't delete the post.:

Has anyone purchased from the golf warehouse? Has anyone had any luck with Dick's sporting goods matching their price?

i've bought lots of stuff over the years from TGW but almost never at full price. they can have some pretty deep discounts when the seasons turn (i.e. zero restriction rain gear and pullovers at the beginning of summer, etc). i've never tried to price match with Dick's since i wasn't aware Dick's did that and most of the things i get at TGW aren't available at D's anyway.
i do buy most of my consumables from D's (balls, gloves, tees, etc) just to get the rewards points and $10 off $50 purchase coupons.

Thank you. Glad to know it's legit

re: scorekeeping and stats,

so I´m in Finland and most here use Golfgamebook. Have been wondering if anyone knows it outside of scandinavia, any regs here ever tried it? Developed by Finns, but think it´s been making a heavy loss so far at least.

I don´t have any comparables, but seems like a decent software. Annoying pop-up commercials did come up often, but I think paying a bit gets rid of those and lets u insert more stats than fairway stats and GIR and putts. Have most of my rounds there, but check stats maybe once a year these days.

There's a whole slew. Golfshot. The grint. 18 birdies. Myroundpro (only free strokes gained app I believe. They all do much the same thing so it comes down to ease of use and the specific things you want out of it to see which ones does it better. For just recording your score and a few basic stats they are all the same more or less.

Golf pad looks like an interesting app also. It might offer free shots gained. I haven't used it yet but I see it is there and if I click on it it doesn't tell me that it is a function of the pro version only.

Trying to get a lesson in before the weekend. Wanted to work on the driver again as other parts of my game are pretty good right now. If I could ever figure out how to keep the driver near the fairway and get rid of the 1-2 off the map drives I have per round, I honestly think I could get close to scratch.

Mid-Senior champ coming up in a little over a week so I'm trying to work on it as much as I can. The 2-3" of rain we received yesterday doesn't help with the practice schedule though.

It looks like part of being sponsored by Nike is that you have to wear the shirts they want you to wear every Weekend. It seems like every weekend there are several players wearing the exact same design in different colors, or sometimes the same color. I think it's kind of obnoxious, so I don't buy anything Nike. Pretty sure they aren't missing my business though.

Maybe it's like that for all clothing manufacturers and it's just noticeable because so many of the players are sponsored by Nike.

otter - i know for a fact golfers with a nike apparel deal are 'dressed' by nike every tournament down to the hat, shoes, and belt (and i'm guessing TM, puma, and other brands do the same thing). it's all their newest clothes and coordinated with their online stores.

Tennis is even worse. Turn on a match and if both are Nike players they are wearing the exact same thing.

If you have a clothing deal, you wear what the sponsor wants you to wear.

If you’re Tiger or Rickie you have some say but good luck if you’re not.

The PGA guys can be pretty monotonous and similar, if you want weird and unique check out the players from the JLPGA and KLPGA when they venture over to play an LPGA event.

Had the lesson today. Starting to get dialed in. Will throw up a video later today.
