Toward the end of today's round, I stripe a drive down the middle.

Guy in my group: "Do you ever get tired of seeing that?"

Me: "You know what I get tired of? You hitting 3 wood past my driver every single hole."

Him, perfectly deadpan:

"It's a 4 wood".

Mackenzie tour in town this week. Our course was closed this afternoon for qualifying so headed over to the host site to watch a bit of the junior pro-am.

Caught up with a group of juniors from our club paired with pro Joseph Harrison from Las Vegas (Boulder Creek area). Impressive young man. The juniors were completely at ease playing with him. He was encouraging w/o over-doing it. He played well in chilly, high-winds. Excellent putter.

I knew two of the three juniors in the group. The unfamiliar face, a 12 yr old named Daniel, is starting his second season in our junior program. He shot a 66. Missed three make-able birdie putts. Joe was kidding his only goal on the back was to hit his wedges inside Daniel's approaches.

Was told it is being put together by the guys from the Aldila tour van.

It i also counter balanced so playing it at 45.25 should give me the slightly lighter swing weight I like without having to play it at 44.5, take weight out of head or add weight to the butt end.

Brag: out-drove an olympic golfer. Beat: obv was a she. A company tourney and she was playing a hole with every group. Straight into strong wind and we both hit smack middle but hers went a bit high and guess maybe 200y and 220 for me. Variance: played like **** most of the round and then a guy who I also played with last year said after round: "you really have improved in a year!" Shot like 95, no idea what I did last year lol. Then again after the round when me and the two others from our group were eating he joined and promptly introduced himself to one of the guys he just played 5 hours with (was without cap and sunglasses, but still).

Please tell me the McKenzie brothers are involved somehow with the Mackenzie tour.

Still haven't watched the video yet but remembering the first minute I tried to implement it on the range after my round yesterday. Didn't notice a whole lot of difference in my swing. I will have to take some video to see what it looks like with this.

Grunching/mobile posting...

I know Pacific NW courses have been discussed before in the forum.

Any recommendations in the Tacoma and surrounding area?

We are redoing a trip down to that area, in September. Last time (5+ years ago now) we did Chambers Bay, McCormick Woods, Trophy Lake, both Gold Mountain courses, and White Horse.

If no better alternatives we will likely repeat the same courses but curious if anyone has any other recs.

Has anyone here played Arcadia Bluffs, and if you had the chance would you drive 2 1/2 hours each way to play it?

Yes and yes. Visually there aren't many courses that are its equal and it's really a pretty good layout in addition to being obscenely scenic.

Since it's a long ways from anywhere (2 1/2 hours from Grand Rapids) the best way to play it is to make it part of a multi-day trip to northern Michigan, but I'd still make the drive to play it. Last time I did we played 18 at Hemlock in Ludington in the morning, played twilight (4:00) at Arcadia, finished at dark and then drove across the state to play Tullymore and St. Ives the next day.

My old high school teammate is the head pro at Hemlock. I get up there every mid-October, AFTER the golf season is over unfortunately.

Ok, you convinced me. Its happening in a couple of weeks.

I've played St. Ives before but not Tullymore, really enjoyed it.

really pissed im missing a wedding in traverse city in august due to the birth of my child. just a fantastic place for golf.

Arcadia Bluffs was great when I played it ~10 yrs ago. Had a fog delay and didn't see the lake until the back 9, but once it cleared out it was glorious. Sitting on those chairs after your round drinking a cocktail is blissful- makes you forget about all the balls lost in the fescue.

Need an update on this please.

I just randomly picked up a Rogue Silver 110 msi 70X and threw it in my 915D2. Took it out to the range tonight. Liked it quite a bit, though we'll see how it does on the course. If it doesn't rain tomorrow night maybe I'll get in a little on course testing before the weekend hits.

It's obviously way more shaft than I should be playing -- I haven't had my swing speed checked but it's pretty LOL. According to the Aldila chart and guesstimation I probably should be playing an R flex but I've never had good results from flexy drivers.

I really need to get the bag set so I don't end up buying a shop full of clubmaking stuff on top of the gear. Dumbass me also bought a shaft without a Titleist sleeve, plus it's easier to find R and S flex Rogues with TM tips, so I guess I'm going to have to learn some things.

looks like the simgolf is paying off. broke 80 today for the first time in 41 years of golf.

needed par standing on the 18th tee and knocked the approach to kick-in for the birdie.

I like it so far but it does feel awful on off center hits. I actually launch it pretty high for a low launch shaft. It doesn't matter how hard I swing, if it is a good swing the ball starts exactly where I aim, no random overloading ect.
A counterbalanced shaft as well. The butt feels massively stiff but not awful.

My understanding is it is massively different then the 110MSI

As of now I think they only have the 60TX, 70TX and 80TX since only the tour guys and a few lucky randoms like me have them. If they come out with an X flex it will be mostly higher torque by a touch.

Not sure when it will be released but my understanding it is going to cost a massive amount of money. I think the 125MSI was in the $800-$900 range when it first came out.

Sexy shaft though

It is also crazy stable with vertical gear effect. This near skyball went 279. That is way farther than my old Synergy Blue 70x and in no way should that ever go that far.
