golf goals are important. helps one stay focused. one of my main goals is to out-drive Dominic, AND, avoid having to search the desert for my ball.

the first one is sometimes possible; the second, not so much!

1. Get a putter.
2. Get a driver.
3. Get a launch monitor (FlightScope Mevo or similar)
4. Think and play strategically instead of trying to hole out every shot inside 330
5. Shoot under par for 18.
6. Shoot in the 60s.
7. Play a lot of golf.
8. 1 handicap or better.

Qualify for city finals.
Finish in the money for a gross single day event
Play at least 10-15 tournament rounds.
Track detailed stats and figure out an optimal strategy for me in events.
Suck less under pressure.
Get to scratch
bogey free round

These two go hand in hand. You can go out and shoot great by yourself but there is no substitute for pressure in tournament conditions.

I still get a bit nervous on the first tee in tournaments but I have found a standard pre-shot routine that I go through and it for sure helps.

i actually really enjoy the first tee jitters at our club championship. not sure why but i guess i like the feeling of actual competition.

I don’t know, that looks like a pretty good deal. Out of twoners are almost always going to pay +$100 at those courses.

That seems like a pretty good deal, but how many stipulations are there? Tax? Resort fees?

guessing that deal is per person, two to a room?
are there time of day restrictions on tee times?

the baseline:

last week of april weekday greens fee ranges (cheap rates are the early morning discounts)
Bear's Best: $159-229
Reflection: $159-179
TPC Vegas: $128-196

Aria Deluxe Queen (two queen beds) for three nights before resort fees & taxes: $1036

$964-1122 per person (two people to a room) before taxes and resort fees during the week

i have a hunch if you actually called any of those hotels and spoke to someone they could likely get you better deals than what you listed.

Quick equipment question: I got fitted for some new irons and ordered clubs with the shaft length shortened 1/2". I need to also pick up a new wedge - does it make sense to order that -1/2", as well?

It does but you may have to have it bent. Not sure how much that matters for a wedge.

i can't imagine the lottery aspect of it is +EV in the long run if you even remotely care about the clothes you wear and the balls you use. what else do they send you?

Finding myself with some free time on Tuesday while in Orange County. Decided to stay down in La Jolla after work Monday and booked to play Torrey Pines South around noon. I went online when booking opened up last night and they had exactly one time available for a single, perfect!

Should be just enough time to go check out the Scotty Cameron store before the round.

Nice that course is a ***** no matter the tees you use. I played there right after they had re done all the greens Hit a nice wedge from 120 out of the fairway and the balls first bounce went another 10 yards, I knew I was in for it after that.

The one ive tried is a bit different and will send balls, hats, golf themed tshirts you can actually wear, only once i got a golf shirt and it was actually really nice $90 value. Beer sleeves, legit golf towel, headcovers, snacks, lip balm and other different trinkets good for the course and your golf bag. The box definitely gets its value and then some every month based on the follow up research I do on the contents. I couldn't trust the ones really centered around actually golf course attire because I'm so picky but what I wear.
