Assuming you mean the qualifying tournament to have a chance to Monday qualify all you have to do is pay the entry.

Anyone else see the NCAA girls finals today. That course kicked their ass. Was fairly amusing to watch.

I had trouble keeping my eye on the putting line and the ball line at the same time. And once I released the ball it always rotated a few degrees messing up the alignment.

It was also really slow, twice as long as what I do now. Probably because I didn't know how to do it very well.

Now I just place the ball white side up and find a point on my line to aim at a couple inches in front of the ball. Then lazer stare at it until I've set up so I don't lose the point. It has its downsides as well since I'm never 100% confident I'm lined up straight and sometimes I lose my point and have to start over (or worse yet, don't).
I actively never use the line, although I don't go to the extent of only white side up. I mark the ball, clean it, plop it back down and then read my line and similar to you just zone in on a spot on my line and hit the damn putt. Hate reading the green when my ball isn't on the surface though, much prefer to have it on the green to give me some perspective.

False on at least two levels.

web.com Monday qualifying is only one stage, shoot one of the low 12 scores of the hundreds that sign up and you're in. There is no pre-qualifying.

It also states that professionals and amateurs must have a 2.0 index or better in order to participate.

But I also have concern why someone would be interested in attempting to qualify for a web.com event when they have to ask this.....

I was going to say the same thing. Line on ball is a good practice aid. It probably provides marginal benefits in actual play too.

I have to use a line on my ball to putt. Putting is easily the best part of my game. The guys I play with who are all just as good if not better, do not use a line on their ball. I think they are pretty average putters. I think a line can be pretty beneficial and also getting it to roll end over end is a great practice aid.

I think a similar question was posted recently, but...

Ball sitting down in deep rough with not much green to work with. What club are you guys using here? More of a chipping or a pitching stroke (if that question even makes sense)?

I find myself afraid to launch it, but then end up not coming through with enough speed or firmness and end up basically chunking it very short.

Planning to get out and practice short game stuff tomorrow, going to devote a decent % of time to this, but wondering how you all attack the situation.

Play it like a bunker shot. I use my 60 in that scenario

I think choosing the word "firmness" above probably illustrates some of my issues with this shot too. Trying to force or shove the club into the grass a bit too much in a stabbing way, for lack of better explanation. I need to stay a bit "looser" in all short game shots. I've found that focusing solely on tempo "1, 2" has helped me a lot and keeps me in rhythm

I'm playing at Plainfield CC, site of The Barclays, on Tuesday. I'm hoping the weather ends up being nice because it should be one of the best courses I have ever played.

Yup. Wide open 60 and swing hard relative to the distance. Ball position is key depending on how far you want the ball to travel.

Eta: maybe not WIDE open but I definitely open it up.

Anyone live in or played in Albuquerque recently? Looking at going there for a few days sometime this summer to get away from Dallas summer. I know it's not that much cooler but 90/65 with dryish air beats the hell out of 100/80 and humid.

Played paako ridge a few years ago, obviously amazing. Twin Warriors and Santa Ana look good. Anywhere else to try?

What's the golf and poker like at Sandia?

I open up a 60 as well with the expectation the rough is going to grab and deloft the face.

At Bandon Dunes. Playing each course for 72 holes total over 3 days (18, 36, 18). Playing vs my friend who is scratch. I'm a 12. Getting 11 strokes plus a tee box. 9-hole increments. For each course one nine stroke play one nine match play. Adjust handicap by 1 anytime someone finishes +/- 2 shots net over the prior 9. Half point for each nine, 8 points at stake, Ryder Cup style. Playing for pride.

Did you bring an actuary along to keep track of all that?

Don't mind me, just a lil envious. Enjoy!

If you don't mind saying, how much does a 72 hole 3 night trip to Bandon cost?

It's a lot of time and money to become a pga pro. Just a perk of the job I guess.

I go the first week of January every year, split a two bedroom suite with a friend, and 1 round + half the suite is ~$220 per day. That's at least half of peak season, probably closer to a third. You can spend some $$$ on food and drink if you try, but there are also reasonable food options on property.

Before you LOL January golf on the Oregon coast, I finished all four days wearing shorts this year. Not the usual weather, but not uncommon

Kind of a professional courtesy IMO - sort of it's own little fraternity.

With that said, it might almost be worth it to just get certified so you have that card to use where you can!

Debating with a friend:

To hit a fade (for RH golfer), ball is further up or back in your stance than normal?

How about a Draw?

Up for fade when swing path is going more right to left across ball, opposite for draw, but I'd guess a lot of players keep it nearly the same and just adjust the path of the club.
