It's supposed to be a diplomatic thing but it ends up being the opposite. Just putt everything out ffs. If it's a short enough putt that you should make it then... you should make it.
Not to mention it's just dumb when you are down. USA was down 1 yesterday and made a long par putt then conceded like a 5-foot par putt to Europe. lol. Boring. Want to see more swongs during these matches. Instead we're just waiting around for people to really blow up a hole.
Some strategy to it as well. Conceding 2.5 footers early in a match when the pressure is lower, then making them putt one late in the match in a meaningful spot when they haven't had to make one all day can maybe make sense.
I don't think a 5 footer was conceded though, bad camera angle or something.
