It’s certainly frustrating, but they are simply following the rules that have been in place for many years and already applied to multiple players with little to no public outcry. The LPGA shouldn’t just up and change a rule for somebody with a great backstory.

There are different rules in place across all the tours for members vs. non-members. If a non-member wins an event, he/she never gets all the trappings that a member would.

So while it’s weird, she isn’t getting screwed out of anything. That being said, it would be cool if they changed the rule. But doing so would really piss off the previous non-members that had won.

The AIG British Open she won last year was her first time out of Japan. Some don’t feel comfortable going to different countries. She’s still very young so that may change. It could also be a cultural thing.

She plays solely on the Japan LPGA Tour where she has won 4 times.

I thought Mike Whan's statement was pretty solid. I wouldn't be surprised if they changed the rule but it makes sense to consider it after the season.

What's this BS with the backstop they created behind the 18th green? I really wanted to see people go for it and dump it in the water behind the green.

Nelly had a 0% chance to win as soon as she laid-up on 18 in regulation. Talk about playing not to lose. I think they said she had about 170 to clear the water and 190 to the hole. WTF are you laying up for? The lie looked good enough.

Managed to remain unspoiled and just finished watching. I need chipping lessons from Mirim Lee.

It took a lot longer than we originally expected, but the LPGA has completed its first ten tournaments on the abbreviated 2020 schedule.

Korea sent their B team and still shipped the major. Love those girls
Good to see Sung Hyung Park back even if not playing well

Yealimi Noh could be a big deal someday. Tempted to bet on her this week but the price isn’t right and maybe a bit early to expect her to beat the likes of Green and Yang

She definitely has the talent and a lot of good experience, just needs to get that first win. Hasn't looked great since the restart but seems to be playing well this week so maybe she's back.

Tough draw for Portland to be up against the U.S. Open, but looking forward to catching up on the coverage later.

Every time that I have seen her on the broadcast she looks miserable. Positive mental attitude can do wonders for you.

Can't say that I've noticed that but I'm sure I'll be watching for it now lol

Had a chance to get into a playoff, so a good week for her. Certainly wasn't the only play to take a gut punch on 18.

Great performance by Sei Young Kim this weekend, never let up one bit even on the last hole up 5 shots. Nobody else on the tour can go super low as well as she can.

First class venue, too.

I really think that is time to change the title of this thread. "All about Ariya" She is not even in contention any more.

It has been a very unusual LPGA season so far to say the least. Due to the pandemic there were four tournaments played early in the year, and then play was halted for five months. Play finally resumed on the last day of July, but fans were not allowed to attend. Nine more tournaments have now been played, so thirteen tournaments are now in the books. The player results of these thirteen tournaments have been treated by the Rolex Women’s Golf World Rankings as any other results would have been treated in any normal year.

Thirteen tournaments may not sound like a lot, but it has resulted in major changes in the Rolex Rankings in 2020. Changes that will have a direct affect as to what players will qualify for both the 2021 Olympic and Solheim Cup teams.

If Danielle Kang wins she might have to get the thread title while we wait for Nelly to recouperate.

Also: Just read somewhere that MICHELLE WIE WEST is entered in the U.S. Open in December. Time will tell if she plays, but it's possible!

It's early in a career, but I liked the comment the announcers had yesterday. This is what Ariya could have been.

Also just saw my shift assignments for the Pelican Women's Championship in 3 weeks. I work the pro-am, then:

Thursday - Group 33
Friday: Group 11

Working as a walking scorer.
