but as you say, it's changed........... i might have thought 1) players might be slow to adjust their schedules down; 2) asian women so driven that they'd try to play all them. but i figure they'd soon find it was counter-productive.
as an example, i get the feeling that Brooke Henderson has made a very tangible decision to play less than in past. seemed like even 2 years ago she played every tourney
Fair enough. There are definitely a lot more events. In 2011 the highest number of events played was 23.
Just my opinion but a lot of the asian players have experience playing the KLPGA or JLPGA, so they know what a grind playing tournament golf is. Even those that don't have likely competed as juniors.
I don't think Brooke Henderson is going to play significantly less. She withdrew from the 2 tournaments in Australia due to illness (at least that's what she said). She played 28/33 in 2018, 30 events in 2017, 31 in 2016. As a popular figure with significant sponsor obligations I'd be surprised if she played fewer than 26 or 27. She also seems to enjoy the game more than, say, Lexi Thompson.
It really is impressive how good of a job Whan and his team have done. Going global without stepping too hard on the toes of the KLPGA and JLPGA is big. He's going to need to shift focus some to building purses and bringing in some more name sponsors to step in when contracts don't get renewed.
