Saso going to get paid playing on the LPGA. Big win for her, another crushing defeat for Lexi.

I didn't screen shot it, but some media person bitched about Lexi only taking two questions after the loss. I probably fall somewhere in-between with the "athletes need to take questions" debate that's now front and center, but in this specific instance it seems kind of shitty considering Lexi spent a ton of time after the round signing autographs.

Swings get shorter; putts struggle making it to the hole; etc.

All tropes of what happens under pressure. Sure looked like Lexi had a case of nerves and couldn't get out of her own way. Was hard to watch

Her agent shut down the questions.

Lexi also refused Golf Channel interview request.

#17 was key. She never should have hit driver there, that was asking for trouble. Based on her response to her caddie she got the wrong club on the approach. She pars 17 and she probably wins it.

Parring 18 only gets her in the playoff with about 35% chance at best.

Nice to have major coverage on a network this weekend. Solid course, if not the most epic. Lots of birdies being made, it's definitely not Olympic.

Must have been pretty benign conditions today, lots of players under par so far (I'm only about halfway through the coverage)

has there been a massive short-term shift from asian winners/contenders to european winners/contenders?

i had noticed this before this week, but this week's leaderboard has few asians near the top (last time i looked)......

a few questions,

1) have others noticed this?

2) did COVID somehow harm asian women golfers more than USA/European?

3) is this a much smaller version of the PGA Tour's "Tiger Generation"? i.e. women's golf on tv more in europe the last 20 years. there's now a european golf tour

4) are asian women at less of a size differential vs. non-asian women on LPGA vs. similar comparison on PGA?... i'm thinking maybe this happening right now.

i presume my observations, if correct, are fairly short-term in nature.

i have never understood how players do well on LPGA with really, slow tempo swings....... i would have thought swings would be fairly similar to pga swings....... do more flexible shafts mean you don't need to go at it as hard? also, apparently the women's swing speed are nowhere near getting the driver+ProV1 yardage explosion (sorry bad grammar)

EDIT: when i reference asian golfers vs. european, i mean golfers from china, korea, taiwan, japan or of that descent.......... thai golfers seem different. not sure if that's partially genetic or that they just happen to have big hitters in the current generation.

I'm going with no, though it may well be that the Koreans have been somewhat less dominant this year.

A lot to unpack in this post, may give a more complete answer later.

In other, timely news there is a massive logjam at the top of the board at Carnoustie, should be an incredible finish. Looks like a nice weather day so scores will be low.

Booker, thanks for the response

I realize even if some form of "true" that it's based on limited sample size.

but I find in betting that often the best opportunities are things that potentially make complete sense (I think this does) and getting in early on them.

and looking back, people will always say it was so obvious even though some of them dismissed it at the time.

the one other drawback (and it relates to sample size) is why it would come on so suddenly.. but I'm thinking COVID is highly unique times.

thanks again for the response

Team USA up against it early in the Solheim Cup. Some serious fail down the stretch to only earn a half point from Session 1. I'm expecting Kupcho/Salas to be a strong team this afternoon.

Korda balls rest on the edge of the hole whilst the Euro's pick it up as a gimme.

I think Korda questioned that it could of still of have rolled in as only 7 secs went by and they can have up to 10secs I think.

Think euro's out of line picking the ball up tbh,

you're talking about the 26-year-old with 11 LPGA titles and a major?

Was never going to fall, disgusting behaviour. No doubt, the people who hated on Suzanne Pettersen a few years back will be on to berate Korda.
