From not having status at 19 to top 10 in the world at 20 via 2nd in his first Masters is lolwtf incredible.

It's literally impossible not to root for this kid.

Been on #TeamSpeith since last year.

Spieth gonna win at least 8 career majors and 50 tournaments. I've been onboard since I heard of him as an amateur. He has the same fire as Tiger did coming onto tour as a kid. I don't think he will be content until everyone considers him the best player in the world.

And if she did not have that jacket on we would point out her pointy elbows also.

Hopefully the fame and money doesnt ruin him.

Anyone find it strange how he was using his hands to say "slow down" to his birdie putt on 18, to make sure he locked up a tie for 2nd?

Obviously a three putt would have been bad, I've just never seen someone visibly care about where they finish after coming so close to a win.

He's got a lot to learn after this one, but 4 majors sounds right to me.

Id take the over on 4 majors, just saying

End up with a better career than Rory?

I got 4+ as well, but who knows - dudes young and a lot can still happen (good and bad).

I think he needs to invest in a good sports psychologist to really help him hone his 'Tiger-vision'. And I'm not trying to single him out here, I think every golfer could benefit from this.

If anything, he seemed pretty poised/composed, given the situation and his age (he still shot even in the final round--which is far from a collapse)

I'd guess better.

Not sure what happened to Rory--maybe he needs to switch back to Titleist.

Also would guess he ends up with a better career than Rory. I think Rory has more talent but Spieth just has the drive and passion that Rory lacks

I'm going to guess under 4.

I imagine there is an insane pool of talent in the 13-17 year old range that is going to take the TOUR by storm. These are the kids that took interest in golf instead of little league soccer or baseball.

What makes the current 13-17 year olds better than the last group of 13-17 year olds?

Improved coaching, fitness, technology in the game. I could be wrong, but it is just my hunch that the talent in these things will only get deeper and deeper.

Come on Reed has 3 wins since Spieth last won a tournament, no need to hate. Not the first good player to not get up to much in his first Masters.

Amazing the hate for Reed for giving an honest answer to a question. Was it cocky yes but like any sport confidence is important. It makes every other golfer out there give a canned boring answer (Tiger Woods) to any question they are asked.

Though that is what also makes Spieth's accomplishment so huge as it was his first visit to Augusta

Watching the back nine you could definitely see his frustration, it seemed like the wheels were coming off...and he still managed to come in at even par for the day. That impressed me.

His wheel started coming off on the 1st tee, drives on both 1 and 2 were dreadful. Somehow he still managed to make 4 birdies and salvage level par.]

i would definitely take the rory over jordan career option.... i mean, rory is at 2 majors already (and basically blew another one).....

john daly is in very special group as he won two majors before the age of 30... i think freddy and davis love are at one major? (freddy 2??) . sergio is at zero... a whole british isles and ireland generation of stars is at 1 or zero majors

majors are hard to win... and there is going to be much great frequency of rory/jordan/tiger/etc. guys in the future than there were in the past.

if you were judging future careers, i might pick jordan but rory has already got 2 majors and jordan might not even get there.

US Open and British Open are especially difficult for anyone to win these days. pga is pretty good shot. masters is excellent as it's invitational field and course knowledge can be a huge advantage.

one last thing i'll say is that i think without tiger there would just be a ton of guys with 1 or 2 more majors.... i don't think you would see a few guys with 4 or 5... have to think about the math.

I'd be curious in the bump UA is getting golf merchandise wise this week alone with Spieth's run at the Masters. You'd have to think a few kids watching it with their dads latched on to "their guy" for the future over the weekend and want some of that UA garb. I know I'll be adding a few UA items to my golf wardrobe this year to go with the stuff I already have.

Such a genius play on UA's part to get this kid before anyone truly knew what he was.

Are you buying this garb with your allowance or is your dad going to buy it for you?

LMAO!!!! Everyone remember when it was " I bet Rory wins at least 2 majors a year for the next 5yrs?" JP is extremely talented but slow the fuch down. There will not be another Tiger or Jack in your lifetime. JP under 4 majors for sure & this could be as close as he ever gets to one. Bubba winning 2 in the last 3yrs is an amazing accomplishment, so where is his appreciation thread? IMO we will not see another 5 majors winner in our lifetime, that's how hard it is to win a major and how tough the competition is.
