I shot a 75 at Pine Hill in 2004 (maybe it was '03?). There was a playoff at 72. I doubled 10 and 18 :-/ Closest I ever got to making it to the second round. Yes, nothing to brag about I know.

Reid,
Huh? Was that post a level? I thought you wrote in a thread that you shot like a 90+ at a club tournament or something.

Well, second stage keeps telling me I don't belong on the highest level so what's left? Hooters Tour? Kill me please...if I were 22-29 I would be all over that right now. I am 37 and have a wife and kid....and she wants another kid. Bills = growing!
Meh, I understand supporting your family and working and all of that. But if you are in a good position and its no big deal to take some time off work each year, I think you owe it to yourself to give it a try every year until you feel like you really can't compete. I think if you can shoot -15 at the first stage and are shooting scores good enough to qualify in practice rounds, you have the ability, you just need to make/have it happen. It would be a shame to never make it just because you didn't enter. Just think about how many times Todd Hamilton probably should've quit.

Played in 3 us junior amateurs and made it to quarterfinals in 04, very great experience. Played in a US Am 2 years ago, but didn't make it out of match play. I just don't have the mental game, too many thoughts racing around in my head.
Welcome to the forum. There was a thead about this here http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/93...l-game-741526/ not sure if it will do ya any good but wasn't sure how far you have dug around in here. If you have questions, there are some well established players in here that can help/give advice.

Now you see this year's mid-am qualifier was so embarrassing. At any other course I probably still break 80 playing no differently that day (I was 1 under through 7). Almost every one of those strokes over par were lost-ball penalty strokes for being a little off on the tee. The nerves and my lack of having a repeatable swing under pressure had me spraying it quite a bit off the tee, and the course I played was the most unforgiving course off the tees that I've ever played. Also, I haven't played more than 4 or 5 rounds a year since 2005. I've broken 70 a couple times in the past when I was still practicing. It's what I get for "hanging it up" for 6 years and thinking I can go out there and compete.

So no, it's not a level.

This is by far the best thread in the forum. Ship, as well as everyone else, if you could share more life experiences, I'd extremely appreciate it. As a younger member on this forum, I could really gain some insight and I'm sure many others would as well.

Some of these stories are mind boggling to me, Truly great reads! Appreciate the stories man I miss golf after this. My brag is probably just playing at the Royal Montreal Golf course for one full summer or my one albatross lol.

What kind of loft do you use on your driver as well as shaft type? I'm curious

I had a Voodoo X 75 gram before it broke and went to a Matrix 85 gram X and it is almost as good.

You have one more albatross than me.

I'll trade you the albatross for your handicap . I've got a set of NVS till my handicap deserves better lol

I've seen some of those matrix shafts go for like almost 350+ each :O. I.E. The Matrix OZIK TP HD at 1000$ is that only for the wood shafts?

That white 1k shaft is the one that Adams put in a club for me a month ago and I hated it....it was devastating giving it back to them.

Hey Ship,
I was wondering why you needed to stop your testosterone treatment when you went to Q school. Since you have Low T, doesn't the treatment just get you back up to "normal" levels? Does the treatment use synthetic testosterone or something that would show up in the test?

It is synthetic and shows up. I think all supplemental T is synthetic...never really thought about it though. I do know that my levels are brought up to normal and not above though. My doc is very adament about keeping the levels closer to lower average not above average.

its kind of weird, really. Like, why can you get a cortisone shot or something but you can't take something for having low T?

I'm really anti-cheating/steroids and that stuff, but the line couldn't be any grayer.

Wow that's crazy i'd hate life so much paying that much and ruining my game on top of it. Seems like there's alot of hype in shafts these days, would really suck if you were sponsored and had to run them lol.

Does anyone think Lance Armstrong wasn't on ROIDS?

Merry Christmas everyone.

Roids? No, I doubt it. Blood doping and/or blood loading? Hell yeah.

Sorry for bumping this but I've only just discovered this forum.

Anyway, I noticed a couple of people seemed to be complaining about the official here, but unless I'm reading it wrong the official did you a huge favour and all with a smile.

What am I missing?

I think the complaining is about USGA officials in general...no doubt this one was very cool to let me slide.

Lest you forget, the USPGA probably scored the lowest on the snoozefest scale this past year. Just sayin'.

7 3/4 Big head here....my daughters dome is currently in the 98th percentile at 15 months. Not sure I can take the bet though, not sure how to get $$ to Thailand! I was getting headaches from the Titleist hats and that is why I had to switch to visors.
