Re: Golf in Phoenix

I'm having a hard time playing anything but Verrado "The founders" course in Buckeye. The cost is great and the course is a fun track. Beats driving out of the west valley.

Nice, desert forest is elite! Only played it a few times but remember it being narrow and hard as hell. Haven't played Rio Verde CC but played both of Tonto Verde and then the other Tegavah or vista verde a bunch. Nice area out there for sure.

That, and your boss won't let you play anywhere else.

Played silver leaf today, love that course. Excellent shape and such a fair desert course

Re: Golf in Phoenix

Hit the range last night, swinging a club for the first time in a little over 2 years. It went better than expected so I'm gonna get out and play a round tomorrow morning. Hoping to get back into it this summer.

Heading up to play capital canyon (used to be hassayumpa) this morning. Pretty pumped to play a new track and get out of the heat for a day. Just gotta dodge the monsoons

Re: Golf in Phoenix

Capital Canyon was a fun track. Definitely a shorter course as it was only 6600 from the tips in elevation but fairly narrow so only hit a few drivers the whole day. Layout was solid and par 3's were very fun imo. Greens were the best part. Outstanding fast bent grass greens that were super easy to putt on and keep the ball on line. Would play again!

Re: Golf in Phoenix

Got up to Lake Tahoe this weekend for a buddies bachelor party and we all went out and played Edgewood. Just a surreal experience all around. I will try to do a short write up with pics if anyone is still trolling around on here... course conditions were so good it felt like it was artificial. Special place for sure

Re: Golf in Phoenix

Good timing because most of courses start overseeding in middle/end of September. On those dates you should be fine and have no impact except for maybe far north Scottsdale courses who may seed early.

Suggestions:
Quintero (best public track in the state imo)
Whirlwind (two courses and fun, way better than Talking Stick)
Legacy (super fun track by airport)
McCormick Ranch (central, close to casino, two courses, okay)
Wigwam Gold (old school, really tough course from tips but not a desert course)
Southern Dunes (might combine with whirlwind as it's down south, really solid course, holds lots of local tourneys and qualifiers)
Papago (clubhouse may be open or close to open by September, redid course years back and future home of ASU, can be a beast from tips as well)
Grand Canyon Univerity Course (used to be Maryvale, course was redone, lots of money into new clubhouse and course, fun tree lined track)

Didn't list any private tracks as I assume you don't have any connections but if u can get out at any private courses up in Scottsdale there's a bunch of elite tracks up by you...

Re: Golf in Phoenix

Wickenburg ranch is another really nice track as well as Los Caballeros if you wanted to make the drive to wickenburg (could combine a round with Quintero as it's on the way there)

Re: Golf in Phoenix

Anyone else out there still teeing up on this thread? I have been playing a lot of golf lately at Moon Valley since two of my buddies joined there. Have played there many times and it's in elite condition right now. Greens are awesome but you could say that about everywhere right now it seems like with the "winter" we have had
