I'm having a hard time playing anything but Verrado "The founders" course in Buckeye. The cost is great and the course is a fun track. Beats driving out of the west valley.

Nice, desert forest is elite! Only played it a few times but remember it being narrow and hard as hell. Haven't played Rio Verde CC but played both of Tonto Verde and then the other Tegavah or vista verde a bunch. Nice area out there for sure.

That, and your boss won't let you play anywhere else.

Played silver leaf today, love that course. Excellent shape and such a fair desert course

Hit the range last night, swinging a club for the first time in a little over 2 years. It went better than expected so I'm gonna get out and play a round tomorrow morning. Hoping to get back into it this summer.

Heading up to play capital canyon (used to be hassayumpa) this morning. Pretty pumped to play a new track and get out of the heat for a day. Just gotta dodge the monsoons

Capital Canyon was a fun track. Definitely a shorter course as it was only 6600 from the tips in elevation but fairly narrow so only hit a few drivers the whole day. Layout was solid and par 3's were very fun imo. Greens were the best part. Outstanding fast bent grass greens that were super easy to putt on and keep the ball on line. Would play again!

Got up to Lake Tahoe this weekend for a buddies bachelor party and we all went out and played Edgewood. Just a surreal experience all around. I will try to do a short write up with pics if anyone is still trolling around on here... course conditions were so good it felt like it was artificial. Special place for sure

OK going to Scottsdale Sept 2nd-9th . Yes we know its hot but golf is cheap. 1 guy has been there before

Suggestions on best courses to play and places to eat. We rented a house in North Scottsdale

Appreciate all the help

Good timing because most of courses start overseeding in middle/end of September. On those dates you should be fine and have no impact except for maybe far north Scottsdale courses who may seed early.

Suggestions:
Quintero (best public track in the state imo)
Whirlwind (two courses and fun, way better than Talking Stick)
Legacy (super fun track by airport)
McCormick Ranch (central, close to casino, two courses, okay)
Wigwam Gold (old school, really tough course from tips but not a desert course)
Southern Dunes (might combine with whirlwind as it's down south, really solid course, holds lots of local tourneys and qualifiers)
Papago (clubhouse may be open or close to open by September, redid course years back and future home of ASU, can be a beast from tips as well)
Grand Canyon Univerity Course (used to be Maryvale, course was redone, lots of money into new clubhouse and course, fun tree lined track)

Didn't list any private tracks as I assume you don't have any connections but if u can get out at any private courses up in Scottsdale there's a bunch of elite tracks up by you...

Wickenburg ranch is another really nice track as well as Los Caballeros if you wanted to make the drive to wickenburg (could combine a round with Quintero as it's on the way there)

Anyone else out there still teeing up on this thread? I have been playing a lot of golf lately at Moon Valley since two of my buddies joined there. Have played there many times and it's in elite condition right now. Greens are awesome but you could say that about everywhere right now it seems like with the "winter" we have had

So just got back from Scottsdale. Loved the City and wow found it easy to get around.

Whirlwind was our first course. Disappointed as we had to wait 45 minutes past our tee time to start do to a slow tourney. Than require 4.5 hours to play but the course was OK

Played Legends the next day and loved it great shape and player friendly

Wildfire Faldo was very nice but man was there a ton of sand. Hard Course.
Wildfire Palmer was very nice also less sand loved both courses

TPC Champions was also great but got stuck behind a group playing the back tees that shouldn't been there. Another Long round

Overall impression was all the courses were in very good shape but pace of play was slow except for one day. For myself just get tired of standing around and the marshalls do nothing . One restaurant that stood out was The Sicilian Butcher and Venezia's New York Pizza

Also we used Golf Now for all the bookings and had tons of issues and when speaking to the club house they had massive complaints about them also. They canceled our tee time last minute To TPC Stadium and than rebooked it only to cancel it again. I would suggest avoiding them all together

Pretty solid lineup:

Pretty damn pumped!

A friend of mine hosted the golfholics here in Phoenix.

The Arizona courses are starting to go up on their channel. They played:

Troon
TPC
Quintero
Wickenburg Ranch
Verrado

Pretty neat coverage of our courses:

Solid line up of courses...Quintero is by far my favorite of those probably followed up by Wickenburg Ranch.

I’m playing most of my golf these days at moon valley cc since a few buddies are members. Getting close to our annual palm spring trip in the spring right before it gets hot.

So i'm heading to Phoenix for the Wasted Open and to play some golf 2/1 - 2/4. Due to late/bad planning I think we are getting crushed on prices, but here is what we ended up for a lineup. We have a 4some with handicaps of 1, 6, 8, and 14

Friday afternoon - Arizona Grand $90
Sunday Morning - TPC Champions $200
Monday Morning - Raven Golf club $180

I feel like we are getting banged out pretty bad but I don't really care that much because we only do this once a year or so. Anyone have any better options to replace these? All of the tee times are refundable so if you find me something better I can switch it. We are staying in Scottsdale near the downtown area.

I would play anywhere besides those three courses! Recommend Quintero, Kierland, McCormick Ranch, legacy golf resort, whirlwind. Raven is the only decent course our of the three you listed.

Might replace TPC Champions with McCormick Ranch. Which course is better, pine or palm?

McCormick isn’t really that special but it’s central to scottsdale and more fun than TPC champ imo and likely cheaper. Pine usually holds the waste management Monday qualifier every year and is probably the better course. Palm has a lot of palm trees and a lot of water but both courses are interesting. Yes you’re getting gouged on pricing anywhere during this time of the year. Busiest time by far

I remember playing Kierland ages ago. I seem to remember it was a decent enough course. I also remember seeing an LPGA player warming up on the range and when we get to the first tee the starter said we would be paired up with someone. Both hoping an regretting at at the same time if it was going to be her. It wasn't.

Overall it went really well!

Friday at Arizona Grand the pace of play was ridiculously bad. Our tee time was 1:52. We didn't tee off until 2:15 and we finished hole 16 in the dark around 6:25. That course is terrible for pace of play because there are tons of blind shots and the course was packed with wasted open young guys. I actually liked the course OK and the greens were nice but the pace of play made it a bit miserable.

Saturday went to Wasted open. I could not believe the women there! Actually watching golf was just OK but the people watching was unbelievable.

Sunday we played Firerock country club through a hookup with my friend. The course was amazing but unfortunately the weather sucked with steady rain and wind and 50 degrees. I am so thankful that we did not play TPC champions course that day. It is a terrible idea to play the other TPC course during the wasted open because then you would have to deal with all the traffic and $100 ubers to get there.

Monday we played Raven golf club. I really liked it. Great practice areas. The course was busy but the pace of play was great. When we got there they said they double booked 3 tee times in the morning. We still teed off only 5 minutes late and finished in about 4 hours. It was a huge contrast to Arizona grand. Part of it was that the marshalls actually worked hard at it. Part of it was that the course sets up well with no blind shots. The greens were nice. I really enjoyed this round.

Overall I would rate the trip a success. Only downside was that the golf was really expensive. We paid 90, 160 and 175 for our 3 rounds. The round at raven did come with a $10 credit with the drink girl and $25 credit in the pro shop but that was still pretty pricey. If the weather would have been a tiny bit better on Sunday the trip would have been perfect.

Yeah you pretty much came on the most expensive possible golf weekend here for the entire year. For the best value and quality of courses and conditions I would recommend early September right before overseeding and it’s not terribly hot. Another good time is late March early April right after spring training.

Firerock is a fun track. Most of the good courses are on the outskirts of town and if you can get off at any private course you gotta snap accept that. Next time make sure you book the best public course in the state which is Quintero which is about a 45 minute drive outside of town but 100000% worth it.
