I'll be in Vegas next weekend for a short golf trip. That's not till Sunday and Monday but I get into town Friday night and want to play Saturday. Right now Bali Hai stands out. Any recommendations for something better? I'm willing to spend $200-$250 if needed but want as much bang for my buck as possible. I'll have my car so traveling a bit isn't a big deal.

I’ve never played there, and what others have told me is several years old, but almost everybody said it was OK but not worth that price.

Pretty sure Bali Hai has been discussed quite a bit in this thread if you feel like searching.

Also, this time of year make sure you double check with the pro shop that they haven’t just overseeded the fairways which would make them soaking wet and cart path only.

Rio Secco is on the high side of your price at around $200. I really like that course. If you are going bang for your buck, lozen hit it perfectly, Paiute is perfect.

If you want to drive a bit, Wolf Creek is an option too. That's $200 and in Mesquite.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I'm going to book at Paiute Wolf. Looks like about $179 as a single and only 30 minutes from where I'm staying.

Unfortunately, no. Weather screwed things up. Since it was going to be 50ish, very windy(40+ mph gusts), and rainy that Saturday the wife and kids drove up Friday night and I spent the day doing stuff with them. I wanted to golf but not bad enough to spend $150-$200+ to play in crappy conditions. Lame, I know.

The group outing was on a couple unremarkable courses. Aliante on Sunday. Weather wasn't ideal then either but I managed an 81, even with the occasional hail covered green. Monday we played Painted Desert, which was much nicer but still nothing memorable. But I guess in fairness, with the amount of alcohol consumed before and during the round I wasn't going to remember but so much anyway. Did shoot a 78 there in much better conditions.

I had considered playing Bali Hai Tuesday morning before driving back to Phoenix but as tends to happen in Vegas, Monday night got a little late and it was all I could do to get up and moving by noon Tuesday. I'm hoping to get back up there over the next couple months to try again. With it being less than a 4 hour drive I really need to make it a point to do it a few times each year.

Driving up to Vegas again next weekend and looking to play Saturday or Sunday morning. Any 2p2 Vegas locals available to play? Or non locals who happen to be in town.

Just got back from Mesquite. Played Oasis (Palmer) $55 and Wolf Creek $100. Had an absolute blast. Wolf was in better condition than Oasis and I would play both again. Had lunch overlooking course after the round which did not disappoint. One of the days I will figure out how to upload photos.

Wolf Creek is always fun. I feel it's a course you can score well on if you play it a few times in succession. It's hard to pick lines off of the tee with the elevation change.

In Vegas next Monday through Friday for work. If I was convinced work would end earlier in the week I would bring the sticks out. In reality I'm not sure that is gonna happen. I loathe hauling em with and not playing. Tough decision.

I was in Vegas in October and played Chimera and Las Vegas National.

Chimera was in good shape, fun desert golf with good elevation changes and some challenging shot selection holes.

I was ready to be disappointed with LV National but the charm of this course rubbed off on me and I found it to be pretty interesting after all. The mid mod houses lining the fairways of the back 9 in particular were cool.

Both courses seemed like desert-foliage versions of golf courses you could find in any city in the USA.

Ended up bringing the clubs with. Decided to go cheap with the golf this time around. Went and played Angel Park Cloud 9 (par 3 course). Didn't remember it but I have played it before. I played a self 2-man scramble. Shot -1 with 2 birdies and 1 bogey.

Playing Rhodes Ranch tomorrow. Not cheap at $114 but everything is crazy expensive this time of the year.

Angel Park par-3 is lit up, yeah? Can play pretty late?

I think it can be, I guess I don't remember seeing lights, but I really wasn't looking. I played mid-afternoon. For being cheap the greens are actually really good. Ball marks are a thing though with it being all par 3's.

Chimera is still a favorite of mine in Vegas . My only memory of LV national is a dog running down the fairway with 5 or 6 syringes sticking out of its body. Never went back after that

41-37-78 at Rhodes Ranch. Par 71

Didn't have the a game ball striking wise. Combine that with the greens which were in pretty good shape equals a not great round. There were some rough patches on the green and if you putted through them they acted like velcro. Probably not worth $114. If the greens were fixed it would be great.

it's been a few years since I played it but yes the par 3 course has lights on 9 of the holes (explained below).

The par 3 course actually has 12 holes (or it used to at least) which are all open during the day. At night only 9 of holes are playable.

fwiw it's worth, there is a pretty nice executive par 3 course about 2 miles north up the road. It's called Durango Hills. I would play this course before I would play Angel Park's par 3 course. Only downside is the "sand" traps are really dirt traps and there are a ton of them.

also, as scott mentioned in his last post, the greens fees here are astronomical this time of year for what you get...and they have gotten even worse since COVID started. Apparently everyone took up golf here during the shutdown. No more summer rates!

I seemed to remember 12 as well, but I only noticed 9 when I played. I will def have to check out Durango Hills next time I am in town.

Back out in Vegas the week of 8/15. Haven't decided where to play as of yet. Gonna likely get rounds on the 16th, 17th, and 18th. I feel like actually playing poker this trip too. WSOP site the best (only?) to play online in Nevada?

yes and I think WSOP.com sucks s**t but I would refer you to the online thread for WSOP.com - Nevada to decide for yourself.

the heat and humidity have been absolutely brutal lately. Like Florida level humidity with the monsoon moisture but 10 degrees hotter. I really hope you catch a cooler weather pattern when you get here.

Any of you guys been playing in or around Vegas lately? I'm making a trip up with the family over Thanksgiving again this year and am planning on getting at least one round in on either Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. I'd love a playing partner so if any of you are around and may be free, hit me up.

Right now I've narrowed it down to Rio Secco, Paiute(I've already played the Wolf course), or Chimera as a little cheaper option based on some comments itt about it earlier this year. Cascata was on my radar, but at $400+, I'm afraid that's going to price me out. Anywhere else I should be considering that hasn't been talked about itt over the past couple years?

So far on Vegas trips I've played Aliante, Painted Desert, Bali Hai, Paiute Wolf, TPC, and Wolf Creek in Mesquite. Just looking for somewhere solid I haven't already been. TIA

I have not played Chimera so can't comment on that one.

Personally I love playing Rio Secco. Paiute I have played Wolf and Snow Mountain. One thing to consider is while some courses are under watering restrictions, Paiute has no such restriction since they are on an Indian reservation. So Paiute will win on looks for sure.
