I figured we could have a thread for all this kind of stuff. I've never used a swing aid or training device of any kind, but I'm curious about the Hank Haney-peddled Swing Magic. Here's the page with a video that shows what it does and how it works.

At the bare minimum, it does look like something that would get me to do 100 practice swings a day, like Haney promotes. I never thought of it before, as I only swing when I'm on the range or the course...but it makes sense to practice my swing at home, too, I guess.

Anyone have any experience with this thing or any other swing aid that has helped your game?

Thanks for the thread. I'm trying to improve and there's tons of stuff out there and I don't know what's good and what's crap.

I am trying to get my power back and I swing this 100 times every day and it seems to be helping.

This isn't my exact one but they're all about the same I think. On Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/SODIAL-Pinwhee...+practice+golf

This is the only one I have ever used. It helped me gain distance and acuracy. I was shooting in the mid 90's and it helped with my weight transfer.

They might help a little, but I believe that money would be better spent on lessons from a PGA professional. It worked for me.

Momentus 40 oz iron. You can get them used for under $50 and it doesn't take 100 swings a day in the off season to have a significant impact.

The pure ball striker is a really simple but powerful device. I used it to improve both my full game and short game.

Is that the slightly heavy wedge with the shaft that leans forward at address?

I'm a believer in a lot of the gizmos including two that have been mentioned in the tour striker, and the momentus. Impact bags are helpful as well.

A lesson from a good pga pro is also helpful, and there's no reason why you can't do both. I think money spent on gizmos and lessons are of more value than money spent on new clubs.

Unless you get rid of old blade long irons and get hybrids

Getting rid of my 3 and 4 irons and replacing them with hybrids immediately improved my game by 5 strokes.

Doesn't appear his website is active or these are easy to buy anymore. Too bad it seems like a neat simple helpful device. Anyone want to send me one?

I have one of these. It is great if you don't have time to warm up or hit balls before a round. I swing it in my garage before I go golfing when I am pressed for time.

It is also good if you have a tempo that is faster than you want. You really cant swing this thing quickly without having poor form.

Also, if you are doing drills to help improve lag (like pump drills), this is good for that. If you get resistance too soon you are casting. If resistance comes late you are not.

So, because it is fairly cheap, it is handy to have. I highly recommend...

I have the tour striker 7 iron (I think they also have a wedge more suited for higher handicappers), and for reference I am a 3 handicap.

I bought it because I have a tendency to scoop the ball and get a little handsy. You definitely need to have a good impact position to hit it, otherwise you will skull the ball 10-15 feet off the ground. I'd say it would definitely help you feel that good impact position and hitting down on the ball. The only thing I don't really like about it is that it just really does not look/feel like a normal club to me, which makes it harder to transfer the feeling it gives you to normal clubs.

Overall I'd give it a B.

Hmm. I have trouble taking a divot specifically because i'll hit it fat sometimes when I try so I've always been more of a sweeper. I'm also about a 2-3 handicap lately and thought it may help me.

The swing magic is interesting, although I'm not sure it's worth the price. But I've got 90s to return it, so I'll give it a shot. I've done 100 practice swings each of the last two days. Playing Monday...I'll bring one to the range and see what that's like.

medicus dual-hinge oversized driver is the only swing aid that i have ever seen that passed my smell test and the only swing aid i have ever purchased.

it is awesome. straightens me out every time within a couple of minutes.

driver is by far and away the weak part of my game. before medicus, i drove with a 2 iron.
